    Different take on Carbonara.
    Daniel R.

This place was one of the best circumstantial hangs. Comfortable. Great location. Staff was exceptional. Decor was engaging. I spent a pretty penny and wasn't disappointed (wait for it....). My appetizer was an arancini bowl. Shockingly ample, and more tasty than I could have hoped for. Well done! The lamb pasta was decadent. Pure deliciousness. I would also like to send kudos to Kevin, the bartender. He's amazing. I asked for a wine pairing, but the pairing was a flop. Either your wine catalogue needs better attention, or you should train the staff. The key thing that stopped me from 5 stars was my take-home order. I am a huge fan of creamy pasta. I ordered the carbonara to go. ***before you start*** This carbonara was not a traditional noodle. It didn't feature the noodles, the egg, or otherwise. It featured asparagus and other elements. Texture was off, but not in a good way. I would definitely recommend a re-evaluation of that carbonara. I look forward to coming back with a more sophisticated wine menu/recommendation, and a carbonara that will appeal for its price point.

Great food, service and atmosphere. The pricing isn't for faint of heart but the quality and presentation make up for it.

    Affogato ... yum!

Dinner with my son on Friday night. Seated promptly with a reservation. Lots of activity at the bar -- good vibe. I found the back room to be a bit stuffed-shirt and lacking personality. Server was excellent and well trained ... friendly and professional. Focaccia bread with truffle was underwhelming. Tuna tartare was superb. My son had the lamb paperdelle which looked great, was a nice sized portion, and he said it was very good. I had the chicken parmigiana, which was an overly refined presentation, but tasty. I prefer a traditional parmigiana in a deep dish loaded with sauce and cheese. Affogato for desert was a great presentation and yummy! This is a good restaurant with a varied menu and is, true to its PR, "modern Italian." If you want an Italian meal go elsewhere. If you want steak, with some Italian offerings, this restaurant is a good choice with good service and solid food offerings.

Came here on a Friday night and the place was packed! Although it was packed the service was great and actually pretty fast! We got the beet salad to start and we both got the Lamb Pappardelle Pasta since it was raved about! Personally it wasn't jaw dropping that I would get it again and the noodles themselves lacked salt. I would definitely be open to trying something else next time. Overall cute spot for a date night!

Martini is one of the top Italian restaurants downtown, and is in a fantastic location between the Short North and Arena District. All of their ingredients are fresh, you can tell the pasta is made from scratch daily, and every dish is delicious! The service is top notch and this is an excellent option for a date night or dinner with friends & family. If you're in Columbus and craving a nice Italian meal, this is always a great choice!

This restaurant exceeded all expectations; from the stunning design to the exceptional food, drinks, and customer service. I highly recommend making a reservation, as the bar area is open seating but fills up fast. We sat at the bar until our table was ready, and were lucky to have Brad as our bartender; he was incredibly friendly and helpful with drink recommendations. The food is a must! Every dish was freshly prepared and absolutely delicious. And the tiramisu? Easily the best I've ever had in my life. It's one of those desserts you savor with your eyes closed just to take in every layer of flavor.

This has to be one of my favorite restaurants. The ambiance alone is great for a date night. Hailey was an amazing server and helped direct us to the perfect wine. We ordered the Shrimp pasta and the Mushroom pasta and both were absolutely amazing. The chocolate torte is also worth saving room for!

Dined here with colleagues recently. The restaurant has a nice vibe, it feels upscale but also welcoming. Our server was great. She expertly split our checks both for shared appetizers, our individual mains, and separate checks for alcohol. I made a reservation although it wasn't too crowded on the evening we were there. I split a Martini Salad (simple, but nicely executed, perfect size for sharing) with one of my coworkers and we all shared the truffled garlic bread. The garlic bread was delicious and not too filling before dinner. I ordered the penne the alla vodka - ate it all, nary a cremini mushroom left on my plate. One coworker had the butternut squash tortelloni, the other had the chicken carbonara. We all enjoyed our meals. No dessert because we were all quite full. Whenever I'm in Columbus for work, I like to get a meal here since it's reliably good and enjoyable.

Ate here this evening for my birthday! I got an appetizer calamari and shrimp! It was delicious. I highly recommend it. I really wanted to try the lasagna but I was stiffed so I did not. Our waitress/ bartender was great. I def recommend coming out to this place. Great service and fun times and great food!

Great atmosphere and amazing service. The lasagna was very good, but lacked a bit of flavor in my opinion. Oh, and I was a little surprised you had to pay for bread service. Still overall an amazing place and definitely recommend.

This continues to be one of our go to favorites. We had the garlic bread with fondue for the first time and it was excellent. Then we both got our favorites. My wife got the beet salad that she loves and I got the Veal Chop. Thankfully they brought back a version of the veal chop that I love which used to come with an agrodolce sauce and Cipollini onions and now it has a similar sauce with peppers which was very good but I still prefer the original. We got a side of the pasta Cacio a Pepe , which normally I like, but I did not like their version. I would not get that again. The vibe is always good there and our service is usually very good too even though it was only fine this time.

Tight seating. From corner to corner was less than 18 inches.

Valet: Yes $15.00 plus tip (Yikes!) Dress code: jeans and shorts acceptable Decor: elegant Bar: full bar and wine list First impressions elegant, low lighting, music in the background. Tables CRAMMED in together at angles. The corner of our table to the corner of our neighbor's table is 14 inches on one side and 16 inches on the other...close, too close. For a couple or single diner, get a table lining the wall for privacy or sit at the bar. I now know waaaay too much about the lives of the surrounding diners). The house margarita is a fine margarita - really good. Not too sweet. The habanero in the salt on the rim is non-existent - sounds nice though. The wine list is lacking. Bread service is perfect. The warm sliced bread is served with a small dish of house made pesto and a dish of olive oil with a touch of balsamic vinegar. The zuppa pomodoro (tomato soup) is thick and full of flavor. The slice of toasted bread is perfect to dip in it or break it up and eat with a spoon. Perfect for chilly days. The short rib is good. It is reminiscent of my grandma's pot roast more than short ribs. I loved my grandma's pot roast. So, if one wants a good pot roast with carrots, this is the dish. Not epic. The pasta was overcooked - mushy. Not fresh. The veal was lacking flavor. The chocolate bread is just ok and yet we were told it is the most popular dessert - let that set one's expectation. The lemon meringue pie has a very nice meringue, a creamy tart center, a little too sweet, and large blackberries tucked inside. The blackberries are absolutely a distraction from the delicacy of the dessert - try blueberries. Our waiter, Brian was excellent.

LAMB PAPPARDELLE (GF) But instead of the lamb I opted for Filet (medium)

The space is very bright and airy: loved the floral and plant vibes. Our server was kind but maybe a bit apprehensive because we brought our two daughters. Sometimes I feel bad bringing kids but honestly we deserve to have good food even if there are little mouths involved. We had the focaccia starter and it was as pillowy and sumptuous as it looked. Next was broccolini which our 8 month old devoured. I tried the funghi pasta and my husband had the sausage ragu. Both had generous portions. The kitchen made butter noodles for our daughter and she LOVED them. I was pleased they didn't try to doll them up because she really did just want noodles and butter. Finally, the octopus was sooo tasty. The sauce was super flavorful and I love a good bean addition. Delicious meal all around.

The ambiance was enjoyable, and our waitress provided decent service. For starters, I really enjoyed the gem salad -- it was refreshing -- and I also ordered a couple of glasses of Poggio Costa Prosecco to go with my Funghi pasta. Both were very good. However, we also ordered the lobster spaghetti and were not impressed. It was very bland, and the few pieces of lobster tasted slightly gamey. I would not recommend the lobster pasta, especially considering the price, as it appeared to be the most expensive pasta on the menu. The bill also included a fee labeled as "healthcare," which was not mentioned by our waitress. I had to look it up afterward since it was the first time I had seen a charge like that on a restaurant bill. I wanted to share this so others are aware of what to expect.

After skimming through the reviews I was a bit hesitant on coming here, but honestly I can assure you that the only thing I regret is not trying this place sooner. My boyfriend and I noticed it was in a small plaza and our first thought was that a "hole in the wall" place are usually the best so we were immediately excited. I did make a 6pm reservation after reading the reviews even though it was Wednesday and we were seated on arrival. We noticed the place was starting to get packed so I do agree that making a reservation would be best or try to avoid coming here on the weekends if you have issues with waiting or being crammed in small places. From start to finish, everything was a delight. Here's what we savored: * The homemade bread and butter- simply fantastic. I was going to ask for warm bread after reading a review, but since the waitress brought it out immediately I didn't mind and honestly it didn't need to be warm because it was good as is. The butter IS a true winner. I had to pace myself because I didn't want to fill up too soon! * Apps: WARNING portions are generous enough to be meals! We couldn't believe they were appetizers when it was brought out. Crab Cake- I've eaten a lot of crab cakes and I will say no, this wasn't the best crab cake I've had in my life BUT it was definitely a really good crab cake. Especially one with no breading. It was served with a delicious lemon butter sauce. Whoever wrote that the sauce was "sour" in a review made me giggle while eating this because I mean the sauce has lemon in it... hence the name, but even so the flavors were perfectly balanced and I enjoyed every bite. Fried Eggplant- okay my taste buds went over the moon with this one. An absolute standout. The eggplant was cooked to near perfection, and the creamy tomato sauce was to die for. 10/10! It was such a flavorful dish. Tossed Salad- a fresh, vibrant salad with a vinaigrette dressing so addictive we finished it in minutes. This is a unique salad because of the bow tie pasta in it. The tomatoes and green beans that also come in the salad are a nice touch and very enjoyable. * Entree- my boyfriend ordered the Chicken Marsala and he loved it! The chicken was cooked flawlessly, and the pasta was incredibly soft--possibly one of the best texture I've ever experienced. The marsala sauce was rich and flavorful. Ravioli- I opted for the spinach noodles with ricotta cheese and chose the link sausage. I also asked to have the crumbled sausage added as well (for an extra charge) because I needed to try this sausage that everyone has been talking about..... This Morettis sausage recipe does NOT disappoint. If you don't like "spice" you won't like it because it does have a kick to it, but I enjoy spicy. I will say I'm a fan of the crumbled sausage over the links though. It may be the same thing??? but I could go without the link casing. The ravioli were massive, perfectly stuffed, and absolutely delicious. Dessert: We couldn't resist not ordering and trying the dessert so we took it to go. They were offering a caramel apple cheesecake. After the food coma wore off, we enjoyed it at home, and I fell even more in love with this place. It's unlike anything I've tasted--cheesecake with apples inside is a game-changer! Every sauce and dish was outstanding, bursting with flavor and made with care. Karen took excellent care of us, making us feel welcome and ensuring we had a fantastic first experience. We're already planning our return to explore more of the menu. Thank you for a wonderful dinner. This place truly exceeded my expectations!

The employee who helped us was very friendly. We got the chicken parm, Alfredo, pizza, and bread with homemade butter. Everything was delicious. The crust was soft, chewy, and perfectly crisp, and that pizza sauce is perfection. My only complaint is they didn't have utensils available for takeout. We had a 20 minute drive home and were ready to dig in immediately, so that was a little disappointing. Already looking forward to our next visit.

You could taste richness of the homemade saccettini stuffed with cheese. I was told that the pasta for the lasagna noodles are made on site which is used for the saccettini. The veal scallopini was so tender, I could cut it with a fork. Not too many capers, the right combination of butter, white wine and lemon. My girlfriend's amatriciana sauce (she was kind enough to give me a taste of two) had a little bit of a bite to it but not too much. It was mouth watering. I opted for the "Lighter Fare" menu at $55.00, your only two other choices were a Tasting menu at $110.00 or a Pelino's Dinner at four courses for $69.00. The menu is very limited, there is no A la carte available. Our server was professional & polite & the entire staff was lovely. I ordered : First course :Tornare alle Origini Eggplant, Pachino tomatoes, Castelvetrano olives, Pantelleria capers Main Course: L'Oro Verde della Sicilia Rigatoni, Lemon, Butter with Pistacchio di Bronte Crema Dessert : Semifreddo agli Amaretti Amaretti crumble, Semifreddo with Chocolate Sauce This breakdown comes to $18.00 per course. Looking back even the Lighter fare menu is too expensive especially for only one main course on the nights menu that offers Shrimp on your pasta, not even a protein like Chicken or Beef. The most disappointing part of the meal was the temperature of the food, not even remotely warm for this small restaurant. I had a guest dining with me and their first course of Toasted focaccia, Salt-cured Italian anchovies, Bagnet Verd which was comically 2 tiny pieces of bread smaller than a quarter & rock hard for $17.95.
