Store staff aren't particularly brimming with friendliness but that's okay as the mission is to get high quality food for what each of us deems reasonable. Cash is king! Service is always a big thing for me. The operators and staff here are part of the neighbourhood. They know their customers and it is always busy. When the call was made a very mean grumpy miserable old man had answered the phone and in a very angry voice said "this is the meat department ! You should be calling the main store line !" I told him this was the main number on the website that given. If this is not the number can you transfer me? He said " NO !" With that the man hung up on me. How much does it take to press a button on a phone to transfer? Guess that is too much technology for that old guy to handle and way too rude ! Taking business elsewhere

Ditto with the veggies. I like the Longo's brand of pasta (the beef tortellini and porchetta and mushroom ravioli are stand outs). While I haven't tried them, they do have the deli, butcher, and seafood counters. Theres also the hot and salad bars, which are popular around lunchtime. Staff are pleasant and helpful, as are checkout cashiers!

The old market was very cramped and had poor lighting, and I was always reluctant to shop there. The new owners are much more friendly. The products are fresh and the selection is good. It's much better than shopping at Metro in terms of price and quality. My only complaint is that the shop is a little small and can get very crowded at peak hours. You can't really shop in one half of the shop because there is a line up of customers.

Inside the lights are lower than in a big chain grocery store. They also sold potted plants and cut flowers. Prices are the same or slightly better than at a big chain grocery store. For example, I wanted to buy a bag of cherries. There were two prices, $2.99/lb and $4.99/lb. The difference was that the more expensive cherries were bigger in size. There were fruits displayed outside the store, like the cherries. When I was there, the cherries were in the shade. However, the temperature was 31C with humidex of 38C; are fruit affected by humidex? I suspect they are. But if the strong was shining o  it, I worry about the fruit getting over ripe. My cherries were OK for the $2.99/lb price I paid. At my first set of 25 cherries, one was rotten. The sweetness level varied from cherry to cherry. They sold all the typical fruit and vegetables, without having any Chinese vegetables or fruit. This is in Greektown, after all. It is best to use cash. There is a charge of $0.25 for debit, so that's acceptable. There is some minimum purchase for credit cards, but I don't remember the rules. There is no free WiFi. There was no question as to where we would go....Nasr Foods. After a bit of rummaging, we found the corer we needed in a basket. We had been here before, as Nasr in our official supplier of Tunisian Harissa, Moroccan or Mediterranean Sardines, and Tahini (they have a large turnover and it is always fresh. I always buy the apricot leather there, as it sells for less than $3/pound. They have the full range of middle eastern specialties, including all condiments used in cooking. The store is being spruced up and is really a supermarket (about 11,000 sq. ft.). They have a great range of middle eastern packaged goods, including canned goods, jams, honeys, and other specialties. They also have a 'deli' with a wide variety of cheese, and other comestibles. If you enjoy Lebanese, Egyptian, Syrian, Moroccan, Tunisian and other such cuisines this should be your 'go to' store. Take a trip to the souk and visit Nasr. You will like it!

Better than what you can get at a regular grocery store, and its cheap. You can go next door to the small Loblaws and get the rest of your groceries, but buy your produce here. With a TD across the street, a multitude of coffee shops nearby...why go anywhere else?!
