During my consultation he made me feel hopeless, helpless, overwhelmed and extremely anxious. I have had another consultation and was treated with respect and compassion. When I booked my consultation I was told no charge for the appointment, now I have a bill which I have asked to have amended. He's just about the money. My recommendation seek another periodontist who acts with care about the feelings and well being of their patients. UPDATE: The office apparently has nobody in charge with customer service, I have written them 2 letters about my billing. I was billed for a consultation, that when I booked my appointment and asked them if there was a consultation fee the woman who answered said there was no charge. I paid for my x-rays and received a bill for the consultation after i requested it be removed. When I called the office to speak to the person in charge of billing I was told there was nobody who handled billing ! Really ?? That bill I also paid In exasperation with this issue. I now have been sent yet another bill for $16.58 which is apparently compounded interest. This I refuse to pay. It's absolutely ridiculous. Stay away from this horrible Dr. and the inept office which is so poorly managed.

I didn't realize that they don't have a endodental surgeon on staff and they are a common dentist preforming root canals until after we were referred by Dentistry for Kids. It took several days to get an appointment and then they couldn't finish the job during the first appointment and wanted us to come back months later. I insisted they make an appointment much sooner much to their dismay. Hey also wanted to charge us $1,300 out of pocket without unstanding our estimate of benefits. I argued that they are wrong and I'd like a breakdown of our estimate of benefits, that they could not provide. Finally after they scheduled us a date to finish the root canal weeks after the initial procedure I asked about prescriptions since my daughter has been in immense pain and was concerned about continual infection. I asked about penicillin and the dentist reply "oh yeah I guess that would be a good idea". WTF kind of place is this???? They told me in order to get a cleaning I had to have x-rays. The assistant who took the x-rays and other photos was perfunctory in her duties and didn't respond when I told her what she was doing was uncomfortable. Dr. Cera came in a gave me a quick exam and then I was told I had to go back out to reception to wait for a hygienist. My wait started at 35 minutes past my appointment time. I waited another 15 minutes and told them I had to leave for another appointment. So I went in for a cleaning and never got a cleaning. Worst of the worst.

He narrated the entire procedure, so I knew exactly what he was doing with each instrument and in each part of the process. It was very reassuring. And he was very gentle. I am so happy that I don't have to look elsewhere for a dentist--and don't have to be afraid! (I'm not particularly afraid of dentists, but aren't we all a bit nervous about dental work?) It turned out, as a good dentist told me, that he created a false/fake root, the cause of the pain, which destroyed the tooth pretty quickly. My first experience had been fairly frightening and I'd been hesitant about following up with the re-treatment for that tooth. Dr Kahn was very thorough and articulate in explaining what the procedure would entail. He was also able to explain what had gone wrong with the first procedure performed by the other doctor. The office staff was very efficient in the scheduling process and Carmella was exceptionally helpful in regards to my questions about insurance coverage. The actual root canal, while not pleasant, was pain free and over in an hour. I did have trouble initially in getting an appointment but I understand now that was likely a result of the answering service/undelivered message. I'm glad that I followed up and was able to get in for a consultation. I would highly recommend Dr. Kahn to those in need of a root canal or other endodontic treatment.

Thus, I drove in the high heat to the office for my appointment even though I am older and the heat makes me fatigued and ill. When I got there they tried to force dirty ionizing radiation old school dental X-rays upon me. I asked if they had the new radiation free DEXIS CARIVU technology and they did not, but they had said prior that they would not force me to get dirty ionizing radiation scans. But when I got to the office, I felt tricked. They said they wouldn't do the exam without forcing me to be exposed to the radiation cancer-causing scans. They tried claim the x-rays are low dose as ever as the industry has lied about for decades. However, there is no safe dose of ionizing radiation according to LNT, just look it up. IONIZING RADIATION IS A KNOWN CLASS 1 CARCINOGEN. The only safe dose is no dose. Everyone should be asking for the new dental technology and RADIATION-FREE DENTAL EXAMS! These dentists should not be forcing cancer-causing scans on their patients. The first rule of a healthcare provider should be to DO NO HARM. Especially for children.
