I sincerely hope this message helps some people in the future while considering this company. My roommate and I chose to live with Marcus Property for our last year of college and got treated like specs of dirt. The initial start was great and we were very content with the service. Our original landlord, Ms. Teriann was so gracious and treated us students like adults who were thoroughly interested in renting out property. As we did so, Teriann was always available and gave us all the contact information on who to call and when. Where my roommate and I first experienced a plethora of hassle was when we had no idea Teriann went on medical leave. We had reached out to her numerous times and no response, so naturally, we contact anyone we could at Marcus Property when we had some questions about possible move-outs. Not only did we have to go in-person after a number of phone calls and e-mails, we had to ask Ms. Arnette about the current situation. You would think that something like this would be addressed to tenants immediately, however we received no formal notice. Ms. Arnette as our "new" landlord treated my roommate and I with zero respect and completely acted like she owned not just the property, but us as well. Never once were we late on any payments, nor did we have any physical damages or issued with the property, but we felt completely looked down upon, strictly on a low level of expertise. As we began our move out process, there again was an issue with communication. It was hard to 1) get solidified answers from our questions out of anyone, let alone our landlord and 2) get a hold of anyone, let alone our landlord. I would hope that no other future tenants experience the lack of professionalism. I am truthfully sorry to say that this is a business that needs help, because if it is as evident as it is to college students, it must be equal for those with much more experience in this field. read more

She's helpful, friendly, and takes the initiative to fix things that will help the sale. If you need something fixed and don't have a person, Joy has a guy. I had been a renter for more than ten years and have never had problems with any of my landlords. I've never been late on my rent or utilities, I'm neat, clean, no pets, nonsmoker, professional, with excellent credit and references. I had a bulldog of a woman manage my account. Within a few months of moving in, they hiked up my rent. She then tried to bully me into changing all the vertical blinds when the apartment building found the unit in violation due to the color. I tell her that the responsibility to change it is the unit owner's, not mine, as those blinds were there when I moved in. So she makes me measure the windows so she can replace them. I tell her perhaps it is better if they did the measuring, I don't want to do it wrong. She sends someone after many grumbling emails. The vertical blinds arrive a few months later, and during the install, they were all a foot too short. Oh, the irony! Then another time, the washer dryer broke down. It took them 3 months to replace it, the whole time I was paying for rent for a unit with a washer dryer. No rent adjustment. When they finally sent Best Buy with the replacement, Best Buy couldn't get the old one out of the skinny doorway, so they had no choice but to take the new washer dryer back. Bulldog landlady blamed me for that. Landlady and underlings accuse me of lying about the doorway and sending Best Buy away. Why would I do that? I want to wash my clothes already! There is more... I can go on and on about bulldog landlady but you get the idea on the ridiculousness of it all. The kicker was 2 months after I moved out. Said landlady tried to collect even more money from me stating they calculated my deposit refund wrong and I owed them because I already cashed the deposit check before they could cancel it. Know the law, friends! Tenant's rights state that your landlord only has 2 weeks to bring up anything they need to settle with you. After that, you are legally done with them and in the clear! I would give Marcus Property zero stars if I could. The one star is because that landlady inspired me to actually buy my own home so that I would never ever have to deal with a landlady again! When I bought, one of my criteria to my realtor was to chuck out all listings that had Marcus Property written on it, no matter how nice the home was. It just wasn't worth it to deal with them any longer than I had to. read more

The bad reviews are right...! A condo was listed on craigslist.. Being highly interested in the place when the ad went up, I contacted this place immediately. Right after I called, we scheduled within 12 hours for a site and then I filled out the application that very same day with the agent. Was told I would get a confirmation once I sent the payment but no word.. Anxious since good condos go super quickly here, I tried to contact them. Finally when I did get a hold of them, they inform me that the price of the condo was incorrect and is higher by $500... Worst part is that they did not contact me immediately about this situation for this immediately move in ready condo. Now, I have to call the place and ask for a refund and go through the process of getting it back.. read more

I've rented with Marcus Property Management for a total of five years between two different apartments. I'm really surprised at some of the complaints because I've never had any issues with them at either times. Each year I have an inspection and any repairs are done really quickly. At the first apartment I had an issue with condensation behind the dish washer affecting the wall. I didn't notice it until my inspection and someone called me to schedule something within a couple days. Aside from that, I haven't had too much interaction with them. I've had questions here and there and have always received a quick, courteous response. There was a $50 rental increase at the first apartment but we were month-to-month at that point. I felt that the rent was still really reasonable for the pet-friendly apartment we had. If I ever need to move, whether to rent or purchase, I wouldn't hesitate using Marcus & Associates again. read more

This real estate firm represented the building I purchased an unit in a few years ago. I specifically asked to purchase additional parking spaces and was told one bedroom units were not allowed to do so. A few month ago, I found a one bedroom unit sold with two parking spaces. I now see this firm and its agents are no different than used car salesmen...they have no problem lying. Too bad because companies like this one should have their license revoked for lying and ripping off clients. Awesome-est of the awesome is my description for realtor Grant Kapono Kanoho. Grant was determined, forthright, and conscientious while selling my leasehold condo. This leasehold property had many obstacles to being sold: the current leasehold will expire in 8 years; the condo association potentially will have a special assessment; and the leasehold owner had many demands before signing the "Assignment of Apartment Lease." Subsequently, Grant ensured each purchase inquirer understood the situation regarding the condo leasehold duration and the potential assessment. The condo recorded 7 weeks after the buyer-seller agreed upon date. The delay was the leasehold owner's demands for new conditions in obtaining an agreement for the "Assignment of Apartment Lease." Grant represented me and negotiated the new requirements for the "Assignment of Apartment Lease." In the meantime, the buyer needed a place to live. So, Grant negotiated an "Early Occupancy Contract" to accommodate the buyer's need for housing. I have known I could trust Grant since purchasing this condo in 2003. After that, Grant and I worked together in 2005 to convert this condo into a rental property. Later, he helped me find a property management company. Now, this demanding condo sale exemplified his integrity and professionalism. Bottom line: There were many obstacles to selling this condo. Worst property Management company Anywhere! I read all the bad reviews and still rented from this company. Now I am kicking myself for it. I am locked into a lease I can't get out of and I am renting from slumlords. Yes, they do offer cheap rents but that is only because they rent fetid outdated roach pits with decades of deferred maintenance. Expect to be treated with rudeness and as if you are the scum of the earth if you are a renter. Also expect to be finessed into a lease that will have you paying months of extra rent after you move out. Please don't be pulled in by this horrible company. Find someone else to rent from or consider moving to a cheaper state. If you can't afford to buy you will be treated like a dog. read more

Marcus and Associates are Rental SCAM. They will not only keep your deposit they will remodel there unit and charge you for "damages" to the tune of $5000. I left the unit in reasonable condition and I have been fighting them to settle the outrageous amount they are charging me. For example $650 for a new fridge because I left the fridge dirty. $3000 for flooring because the stick on tiles came up where my bed was. The rents are low but the bill on the way out will ruin your credit for years to come. read more
