Salads were crisp & perfectly dressed, I especially enjoyed their tabouli which tasted like a bite of Spring. Hummus super creamy with balanced flavoring between lemon, tahini & olive oil. The sandwich ingredients were fresh & proportionate. The chicken breast had that nice grilled flavor, but 5 min cooked too long as was dry making it hard to chew. SOLID! We stumbled on this spot. We were the only folks in this establishment at 1st so I kind of wondered if I had found a gem or a no bueno spot. Boy did we luck out. Woweeeee from the moment we walked in we were greeted with such warmth. The place was clean and lots of places to sit. We were generously given beautiful mushroom soup, hummus and warm pita bread - so authentic and delish. Then the mains came: HUGE fresh chicken and lamb shawarma's. As we were leaving the place it started to fill up with obvious locals and the phone started to ring off the hook. This place rocks. What a great find for food! I ordered the cheese steak sandwich and the combo plate with chicken shawarma, lamb amd beef Gyro option. The flavors on the cheese steak were incredible and it was a big sandwich which I should have split, but was a glutton and ate it all myself. It did come with a side of French fries which I wasn't able to finish. The combo plate was just a flavorful. The spices they used to season all of the foods were on point! I ate plate for dinner and was only able to eat 1/3 of it and I can eat a good portion on one setting. There was so much food that they give you and it's a bargain for what they charge. Found this place by chance after driving by on the way to an appointment, decided to check it out with my husband and it was amazing! Very casual but authentic. I got the lamb & beef wrap and husband got the beef wrap, both were fresh, tasty, and light. They use flat bread instead of pita which I liked because I was able to eat more without getting so full. If you love gyros, this is a really good spot for gyros. Their falafels are also super devious! Crunchy on the outside but moist and delicious plus soft on the inside- just like how a falafel should be. They prepare the food well, and it's a hole in the wall place. They use ton of tomatoes for their wraps (so every time I order, I ask them for no tomatoes). I recommend asking for less or no tomatoes, if tomatoes are not your thing. This is a family owned place; they are always nice and provide good food. read more

PRICES QUALITY I wish I could give them fewer stars, but my husband is generous and tries to support small businesses where only two people work, and then they are a married couple. The main reason I'm not happy is that the prices don't match the quality of the food. I chose the falafel with tahini and my husband got the shawarma with two kinds of meat. When I first looked at our meal, I was impressed with the size of the falafel balls and the length of the shawarma. BUT, size is not really what you pay for. I tasted my food, and although it was crispy and freshly prepared, there were obvious drawbacks. The tahini, in my opinion, was not tahini at all. A very liquid texture with no flavor other than salt. All but one of the balls were burnt. I can't say it was bad at all because they were quite good on the inside, but the outside ruined the whole dish. My husband wasn't happy either. He said the meat wasn't very fresh and they didn't even provide sauces. Okay, he asked, but what he got was more like water with something in it. Unpleasant. The service is ordinary. The place is not particularly cozy, reminds me of what you might visit if you travel by car and stop at places on the side of the road. My advice to them would be to pay more attention to the ingredients and the cooking process and lower the prices. Maybe that will make the establishment feel better. read more

I've been stewing on this review for a while, and felt conflicted because I knew it was going to be bad. Generally, if I have a bad experience at a place, I'll try to go back and see if I just happened to go on an off day, and even then, I tend to not mind some things that other people are bothered by (bad service, being sold out of stuff, heck I disagree with giving businesses low stars just for finding a bug on your food). That being said, I did have higher expectations ordering from Mardini's due to the amount of adoration expressed on this page. I wanted to try a variety of meats that people have said were good, and so I ordered three plates for my household during COVID-19 - a combo of lamb & beef shawerma and chicken shawerma, lamb & beef gyro, and lamb kabob (had to get lamb kabob because that's my boyfriend's favorite). The first thing they did wrong was mess up my orders. For the Mediterranean plates, they state that you can choose hummus or tatziki. I'm not into hummus that much, so I chose tatziki for two of the plates. However, I received all hummus. The other thing is, when ordering online, you apparently get a choice of salad dressing. I chose a different dressing for each of the three plates, but all the plates I received had the same dressing. I'm not sure why they would allow this option on their online ordering website if they just gave you the same thing regardless. I wasn't fond of the salad and rice, either. The rice was kind of cold, a little clumped together, and didn't seem fresh, as well as the salad. The salad mainly tasted of watery olive oil. The hummus was pretty bland, tasted dated, and the sumac sprinkled on it couldn't save it. I don't think I came at a bad time, too - I ordered literally at prime lunch time. Now, the meats... The lamb & beef shawerma, chicken shawerma, and lamb kabob were overcooked to an extreme extent. I'm normally someone who eats every scrap on their plate, even if I don't really like what I'm eating, just because I hate waste. These meats were not only devoid of seasoning, but they were inedible. Not sure if I would call them meat; they kind of turned into something else. I tried really hard to eat them despite not liking it, but it was just tough on the outside and inside, and whatever I did chew turned into a rough, sandy substance. It was as if you had chunks of meat and then reheated it ten days in a row, then threw them into fire. On some parts of the kabob, my teeth just couldn't press down hard enough to bite a piece off. That being said, the portions were large. Unfortunately, that doesn't help the fact that I couldn't eat most of the food. On a brighter note, the lamb & beef gyro was decent. They were still a little bit dried out, but retained flavor, and was softer inside. I really wish they bothered to give me tatziki in one of the plates so I could have enjoyed them more. The other thing that was okay was the pita bread - they gave several sliced pieces in a bag all warmed up. They were chewier with a rough exterior, but would have been good if the meats were edible. I mean, I didn't even get the usual extra harissa, garlic, or yogurt sauce on the side - what's up with that? Uhg, sorry, neighbors and patrons of Mardini's Deli. I'd love to believe that they can do better, but I feel like it was pretty obvious that the meats they presented to me were too overcooked for consumption. If you have to get something from here, get the gyro, I guess. read more
