I've worked in Menlo Park for almost 9 years and did not find out about this cafe until recently. I came during Monday lunch. Vibe was chill, there were a few table of customers there so that was a positive sign. They were out of ingredient for the entree that I initially wanted, so I went with salmon risotto. The risotto didn't really feel like risotto - it's definitely not Italian style risotto. Is there an American risotto? Because if there is, I'm guessing this is it. We were originally planning on another restaurant close by but chose Jadons cafe because of the ample parking and easy access to the restaurant with a walker. The restaurant was clean with good service and large portions. I had the short stack pancakes with fresh blueberries (4 out of 5 stars) and my friend had biscuits with gravy, hash browns and eggs (2 out of 5 stars as she did not care for the gravy). Jason's wasn't at all like I thought it would be inside. I was actually a bit taken aback that it was just a big open floor with lined up tables. There was no decor, not even any music playing. It was a cold, rainy day which made the place even a bit more bleak. But! The food was great. When plans to go for breakfast at breakfast time fell through, we went at lunchtime still intending to have breakfast. And that seemed to be what most of the other diners were doing. I started with black coffee and ordered the Pancake Combo with scrambled eggs, sausage and added a side of hash browns. We must have been last in the order lineup. When it seemed time for plates to be coming to our table, they just kept going somewhere else. But when our plates did arrive, everything was very good. The pancakes were huge and fluffy, definitely the highlight. The hash browns could have used a little more cooking. The potatoes weren't raw, just lacked a bit in the crispy top. read more

This is probably my favorite local spot for breakfast with my family. They have plenty of tables and a dedicated parking lot. If you can't find parking then there's also street parking along El Camino. I ordered the Louisiana scramble but substituted the sausage for a hot link. The gravy was flavorful and the biscuits were soft and fluffy. It was some of the best biscuits and gravy I've had personally, and the hot link gave a nice kick. My wife ordered the breakfast quesadilla and I enjoyed that just as much. The quesadilla is much lighter in contrast to the scramble but it's great item to share and it's packed with flavor. We also shared a short stack, which was nice and fluffy. The butter was a lot but we moved it to the side and spread as desired. The service is always great here. We also get the same two people helping us out, which adds to the charm of this place. The dining area itself is spacious and modern. It's a bit hard to explain but even though it's modern I still get the old school cafe charm. read more

I got the Jason skillet w/ sourdough and it was tasty, potatoes were seasoned which was a plus. Sausage , bacon and ham were cooked well. Service is always great! the food is always amazing! Just good ol Diner/cafe style breakfast and lunch items... well and some early dinner items like pasta. Been going here for years now and it never disappoints. I decided to try the Wheat germ pancakes today and they were incredible. I didn't know the difference between these and regular pancakes but they are high in protein and fiber. Helps keep blood pressure at bay and keeps you fool longer. They didn't even need syrup. The bacon was perfectly crisp and the hubby loved his as well. read more

The warm decor made it nice place to sit and eat with your family. Good old fashioned cooking. I had the El Paso Benedict it had corn beef hash and was amazing with my hash browns well done by the way I love the crispy lol. Wifey ordered California Benedict which was also a very good choice. I'm rounding up because we love this place - very reasonably priced, unpretentious and kid friendly breakfast / lunch option in Menlo Park. I appreciate the cozy, bustling ambiance and usually go with one of their breakfast or pasta options. They have a huge menu averaging $15-20 per adult entree, $10 for kids - portions are very generous. My favorite pasta thus far has been the prawn and sundried tomato, my husband enjoys the kung Pao linguine (I know it sounds bad but my mom also enjoys this!) Definitely recommend if you're looking for a no frills option nearby. Their parking lot is pretty small - would recommend parking in the Springline lot next door, first two hours free! read more

Never had a bad experience here. Food is consistently tasty (I favor the Jason's omelette) and the servers are all so sweet, and I mean all of them. I requested no butter this time on my toast (so I could control how much to put on) but not a big deal if anyone forgot. Toast came out with no butter and I then grabbed my SO's butter from his pancakes hehe. Waiter came by and was like omg who put butter on your toast, I'll get you a new one! We laughed and cleared up the confusion, but this was just one of the many examples of them having lots of attention to detail. Great ambiance as well. read more

This place could be good but the beanie cap/ sweatshirt guy ruined our experience. if this person is what you want representing your restaurant then the ownership must not care much. This guy was the personification of "I hate what I do". He couldn't remember anything we asked for and took his time getting it to us. And apparently it's more important to clear tables than to collect our money. There's just too many choices for dining to put up with this kind of customer care. We won't be returnin. read more

Went here to meet up with a friend for a quick catch up and breakfast. She had a breakfast sandwich that came with a cup of clam chowder, and she also got the Hawaiian pancake for us to share. I myself, ordered the crab cake eggs benedict. I was not a fan of the crab cake!! It was super bready, gummy and I did not feel there was much crab or crab taste. The Hollandaise lacked the lemony essence of a standard hollandaise sauce. The best part of my bread was honestly the hash browns and the pancake she got for us to share. The server was friendly, parking can be a little crazy. I ended up parking in the lot near Che fico ( which is nice because first hour or two is free ) by the time we were leaving however, the lot was clearer. Which was around 11:50. This place is right off El Camino Real. We drive by it a lot and have been meaning to try it. They have their own parking lot which is nice. Staff was very friendly. We walked in and we're able to sit anywhere. Our waitress was always checking on us to make sure everything was good. There's plenty of tables inside. We ordered the chorizo scramble and the apple waffle combo. The hash browns were nice and crispy. I love when they get that griddle crunch. Chorizo scramble was perfectly seasoned. It came with avocado, salsa, and sour cream. The apple waffle was a nice sweet addition to the meal. It's nice the whipped cream and syrup came on the side. The apples were enough sweetness for the waffle but I like the option of dunking it in some whipped cream or syrup to make it a little sweeter. There's a good amount of variety on the menu. It took us awhile to figure out what we wanted to order. Will definitely come back to try some other dishes. read more

We rushed in last minute, with only fifteen minutes until kitchen closing. However, they were perfectly courteous and service was great! Food was very solid diner food, absolutely no complaints about either our banana germ pancakes or the two omelettes we ordered. Everything was clean, including the bathrooms. We came because Stacks closed at 2, but I'm thinking we may switch over to Jason's because the bathroom accessibility is so much better, the food is great and the service is friendly! Everything on the menu sounded delicious, but I went with the Southern Scramble. HIGHLY recommend this scramble if you're craving biscuits and gravy. Hash browns were crispy and golden brown. My husband found this place randomly and it was surprisingly so delicious - such a hidden breakfast spot! I ordered the harbor omelette: filled with crab meat, cheese, spinach and topped with hollandaise sauce. I have never had anything like this and it blew my socks off. I love Hollandaise but wasn't feeling a Benedict ... I didn't know the sauce on an omelette filled with crab would be so delicious. And they are very generous with their crab meat portions! I didn't have super high expectations coming in, but their food blew me away. I would've given this 5 stars if it wasn't for their parking situation, but food and service was fantastic! Parking is a very small lot that you definitely have to wait for people to leave or find street parking on a busy street. We came for Sunday brunch around 11am and there was some people ahead of us that got quickly seated. We waited 5min before getting seated. I ordered just a side of egg & hash browns and my boyfriend got the French dip with clam chowder. The food came out pretty fast too! The clam chowder blew me away. It was so thick and creamy. It is arguably some of the best chowder I've had. They served it with salted crackers. The sunny side up egg was exactly what I expected but the hash browns were also amazingly delicious. Food was decent, but they charged us gratuity for a group of 6 when one of our 6 was a baby that did not eat anything, or was served anything. Also, the lady pouring coffee gives a false impression that coffee is free, as she walks around asking who wants some, rather than asking who wants to ORDER some. There is a key difference there. Im more upset about the gratuity charge for 6 though. I'd like to determine myself how much tip I give based on how my service was, rather than count someone that wasn't served anything. If they'd like to correct this, they are more than welcome to contact me. But for now, I dont see myself coming back or recommending it elsewhere read more

Went and donated blood last weekend then searched for a breakfast spot! Jason's cafe came up and the pancakes were highlighted! We went, although busy, we were seated quickly. The place was cute, clean and seated a lot of people. Everyone that works there was super friendly and very attentive!! We ordered, chicken fried steak, the protein scramble with fruit and an order of pancakes (duh!). Food came quickly and hot! Generous portions, tasty but the best part....the pancakes! I'm not a fan of syrup and these pancakes were so flavorful without syrup! All the good that passed our table looked so good. We can't wait to go back!!! read more

Bonus points for zero wait on a Sunday for brunch. The service was also fast and courteous. I got the waffle combo (BACON waffle, eggs over easy and sausage links) - sadly the waffle is a NEW style - see MY photo - they are now Belgium (thick) style waffles - not the "waffle house" thin kind I was looking forward to from older Yelp photos. They must have changed the waffle irons before the recent re-opening. Hubbs had the chilaquiles. A decent version - though my hubby said the jalapeños were too hot even for him! Stumbled onto this place as kids had a practice game near here. We were five of us including two kids and a toddler in a high chair. It was Saturday after breakfast so not too crowded Service took time both in taking the order as well as getting the food. Perhaps not enough staff that day. Food was standard like Denny's or any other American breakfast restaurant. Ambience was ok with lots of close and loud tables. And although menu indicated only parties of 6 will be charged, they added gratuity of 18% to bill even though we were only 5. When asked they said that's standard which definitely didn't sound like. No issues in giving a tip but forcing a tip left a bad taste in the mouth. read more

Great spot for traditional American breakfast in Menlo Park! This review for Jason's is long overdue. When I was younger, I would always pass by Jason's as I was going along El Camino, but never stopped in to try the food. The first time I had it was when they opened back up in early 2023, compete with a remodel, and I loved it! I've been back multiple times since. Their menu is HUGE. They have every breakfast or lunch time you'll ever want, from pancakes to omelets to sandwiches to skirt steak. The place is super popular on the weekends, and today was no exception: when my brother and I walked in at 10 to 11, it was almost a full house. We were lucky enough snag a table near the front. I ordered the lox scramble with a hashbrown and sourdough toast. This scramble was massive, covered with melty cheese and filled with salmon and capers. The cheese was creamy, the salmon and capers had a nice salty flavor, and the hashbrown was crispy. Such a filling breakfast. Between all the food, I could barely finish my scramble, let alone the four pieces of toast. If you're a fan of no-frills, classic Americana breakfast or lunch, pull over and try Jason's Cafe next time you find yourself on El Camino. read more

The food was mid, comparable to dennys quality. The coffee was not drinkable, bitter and burnt taste. I had better coffee, food and overall experience at IHOP, and that says a lot. Ambience, doesn't exist here; it's loud, no music, and the front door remains open so you get cold waves of wind as you are drinking your bad coffee and questioning why you are getting terrible service. I encouraged my family to try this place but had a disappointing experience. We showed up and the gentleman at the cashier said in a firm cold voice, almost as if annoyed we showed up, "how many?" We answered his question and he handed us a stack of menus and pointed us to the table. As we are sitting down, he approaches with a stack of cutlery and hands it to my husband who then hands it to the rest of the table. I was thrown off by the cold reception, and by being handed a stack of menus and cutlery to distribute amongst ourselves. The same employee happened to be our server. food was good, and made with "finesse" and care. sounds odd about a breakfast i know. I have had plenty of CFS from many places, it is my go to and barometer for a cafe. CFS was light and crispy and still tender., not beat to hell and tough when flattening it out. Gravy was creamy and smooth with perfect flavor. not overly seasoned or clumpy. biscuit tucked in under the gravy was soft and buttery. everything abkut the meal was pleasant and didnt go overboard in all the wrong ways. thank you!!! i will be back read more
