For birthdays, they offer a shot if you're 21+, or cake if you're not! Cute bar area- would be good for date night! The chips and salsa are tasty- ask for the spicy kind of you can deal with hot!!! Finally got a chance to visit today for lunch and was so pleasantly surprised! We'd tried to go on a weeknight for dinner, but the wait was too long, and I'd heard that they were still working out the kinks, so we waited. Good choice. The service today was impeccable, and our lunches were delivered very quickly. The chips were fresh and not oily and the salsa was homemade and very flavorful, but not too spicy. I had the Carne Asada tacos and they were also delicious and seemed authentic. I know it is hard to swallow when you get bad service or the food is not top notch, but one has to give a restaurant time to get things right and catch their flow. Food was disappointing and not authentic. Nachos were a giant pile of lettuce and weird queso over some chips. The service was worse than the food. There was no hostess at first. Finally got seated and they gave us one menu. Waiter forgot to bring us chips, had to ask for them. Waiter forgot tortillas. Drink service was slow. It was either the manager or owner that checked on our table and offered to bring me another beer, but no one ever brought it. They recently opened and have some issues, so hopefully their staff gets better trained and they can turn this place around. read more

Pastor tacos are otherworldly. Very flavorful and the 'hot sauce' that is served with them adds a HOT factor that pairs well with the grilled pineapple. Had dinner at Margarita's recently with friends and none of us were disappointed. I ordered the tacos de carnitas and they were truly the best I have ever eaten! The pork was tasty and well seasoned. Another friend ordered the enchiladas verde and truly enjoyed them. Also, enjoyed a margarita that was exceptional. Kudos to the chef and bartender! I'm so glad I finally got to come here when I was in town! This place is great!!!! We came in on Saturday afternoon. No wait, we were seated immediately by the owner himself, Hector! Which was great, he was very welcoming. Our server, Lauren was AMAZING! She was very attentive and super friendly. I ordered the lunch portion size of the Chicken Fajitas. It was a plentiful portion and so good. Oh, and the Chips and Salsa, let me telllllll you. Their salsa is literally the best salsa I've ever had. Of course I had to get a margarita and what better way than as a flight? I think that's extremely clever! I try to like this restaurant, but I really don't! The chicken that's in the taco is so dry and tasteless! It's like a piece of boiled chicken slapped in the shell with cheese on top. No flavor AT ALL!! The last time I ordered hard shell tacos, the shells were stale!! The guacamole is very salty too(which I'm pretty sure they don't make there). For Mexican food that is supposed to filled with flavor, I find this place subpar. Try putting some love and fresh ingredients into the dishes, otherwise it's a no go for me!! read more

Great Tex-Mex food. The food is very good and the drinks are the icing on the cake. When dining here, I recommend the grilled shrimp tacos on flour tortillas. The grilled shrimp delivers a wonderful "snap" as you take that first bite through a hot soft flour tortilla. This first bite alone, is worth the drive. To wash the meal down, pick from an array of delicious draft beers at a great price. If beers aren't your thing, the tequila flows like water here and they offer a plethora of margarita selections. Be sure to treat yourself and if you can't decide which to get, try the Margarita Flight. The pricing of food and drinks here is very reasonable, especially considering the pricing of some spots on the other side of the lake. This place is a hidden gem. A bit disappointing. Our very friendly and personable waitress could not make up for the lackluster food. My Burrito Durango was a mix of three fillings, two of which (the shrimp and chicken) were both very nicely seasoned and masterfully grilled. The third filling - beef - was more than a little tough, and much the same could be said for the flour tortilla, which was also slathered in cheese sauce that was just too thick. Our other entree was a two item combo in which the tamale was a bit doughy and the refried beans - which had been requested to be subbed with black beans - came out as refried anyway. Not totally the fault of the house - although they could have chosen to enforce the sign on their door regarding mask wearing - was a very high percentage of lunch time customers who were not wearing masks at all, much less during the locally mandated "except when actually eating or drinking" times. So...a less than optimum experience. There is a growing number of Mexican options in the Denver area that we will try before returning to Margarita's. read more
