I've been trying to get to Rio 150 for months now. What got my attention was the large margaritas. I could just imagine myself drinking one of them with chips and salsa and a great friend. My dream finally came true. The chips and salsa were on point but like I already knew the margarita was the star!! I got the flavored monster margarita in strawberry peach. It has all the bells and whistles. It was so pretty. It doesn't taste like there is any alcohol in it but you definitely will feel it after a few sips. The menu is very extensive. I ended up with the super chimichangas. Very safe choice. Everything on my plate had good flavor. We had a blast and I can't wait to share this gem with other friends Rio 150 201 N Church St Ste 111 Mooresville, NC 28115 (Review 43 in 2024 and 843 overall)

We need a big butt margarita!

It was crowded on this rainy Memorial Day, but we were seated quickly. My friend and I shared the margarita flight, which was awesome! The chips were hot and crisp but the salsa was thin and tasteless. Order their guacamole, it's the best! My chicken soup was fresh and flavorful, but not as thick and creamy as I would have liked. My husband's crispy beef tacos were great!

back in again but getting lunch with my lovely bride after Sunday meeting. place was pretty full up around noon but still had seating options for parties up to eight due in equal parts to good planning and good fortune. didn't think I was especially hungry so I just got the lunch special soup plus two cheese quesadillas and a relleno while my lovely bride chose fajitas for one... FYI: lunch specials are very special on Sunday because they're a dollar more ;-\ no issues from the other side of the table so I guess the fajita are acceptable and sufficiently large to take some home. relleno is an cheese stuffed pepper omlette here which is always a surprise even though the menu describes it accurately when I go back and look... wasn't expecting so big a bowl of soup but here it was so have at it; chunks of chicken in a deep flavorful broth plus lots of large floaty vegetables to dip and sip between bites off the cheese quesadillas. enough food to leave full and still take half of it home, so yeah, still good...

    Chorizo queso

Everything was so great, the mole sauce is great, mole is hit or miss in general and this one is good! The chorizo queso is soooooooooooooo good. We got quick attentive service, our server Darvin was so nice and efficient, I could see him taking a big party and still giving us what we needed in a timely manner. The place was packed, I can see why. Thank you guys! Will be back

I visit the River HWY location often and never have any issues and always receive great service. On two separate occasions I have gotten takeout from the Church St location and both times I have had issues. I get takeout from here because it is closer to my home and I don't like dining in at this location because it is very loud inside. For the most recent order, I ordered through the app and scheduled the pickup time one hour in advance. I arrived five minutes before my scheduled pick up time and still waited an additional 15 minutes. When I got the order the bags were tied shut so I couldn't check the order. I got home and was missing an item, but the restaurant called and refunded that item in the app. I ordered a side of fries and I got an order smaller than a McD's Happy Meal. There was also a side of sour cream and lettuce with about a teaspoon worth of sour cream. Also while I was waiting for my order watched a young man behind the bar squeezing limes, he then proceeded to pour the fresh lime juice into an empty bottle of lime concentrate which I am most certain the board of health would have some concerns about that practice.

I ordered the pork belly bao buns, but they missed the mark for me. Coming from NY, I'm used to bao buns being marshmallow-soft and pillowy, but these were a hard, and the pork belly itself was quite tough. Our wonderful waitress noticed I only took one bite and brought the manager over. He explained that the cut is naturally mostly fat, which I understand, but the texture just wasn't quite right because it should be tender not tough. I declined a replacement dish, and he kindly credited it on our bill, though the interaction felt a little awkward. My husband's salmon unfortunately had a very heavy mustard flavor. The spinach farrotto underneath was quite salty. Since there isn't a kids menu which is fine, my daughter ordered the burger plain, but it wasn't really a hit for her. My coconut guava Paloma was okay definitely the best part of my meal though it tasted a little artificial. The ambiance has a lot of potential, and they had live music playing. However, it was a bit too loud for the space, forcing guests to raise their voices just to speak to each other. We also noticed our table hadn't been wiped down thoroughly before we sat down. The absolute silver lining of our evening was our waitress. She was incredibly sweet, highly attentive, and took great care of us. She is truly the reason I am giving 3 stars. She mentioned that they offer a completely different menu for brunch. Because the setting is so pretty and the service was so good, we might give them another chance for brunch down the road, but we likely wouldn't return for dinner. Proof that lighting and plating can hide a lot! Captured these beautiful views last night, even though the dinner itself was a bit of a letdown.

The shrimp wrap, however, was disappointing. It had very little shrimp and seemed to rely heavily on overcooked bacon and an abundance of lettuce, which made it tough to chew and left it lacking balance. The menu offers unique flavors and creative combinations, but in this dish, there seemed to be more emphasis on presentation and concept than substance.

From load-in onward, management seemed far more concerned with monitoring and restricting the performance than supporting live entertainment. Before the show even began, there were already complaints about potential volume levels simply from seeing the sound equipment and production setup. The band and crew made extensive efforts to accommodate every concern throughout the night. The drummer used hot rods instead of regular sticks, the FOH engineer kept the band under very controlled volume levels, and even the lighting setup was intentionally kept minimal and non-intrusive out of respect for the venue. Despite all of those accommodations, management continued hovering throughout the evening and interrupting over very minor issues. It created an unnecessarily tense atmosphere for both the performers and production crew. Live music requires a certain level of comfort and trust between the venue and the people running the show, and unfortunately that never existed here. In addition, one of the bartenders consistently came across as dismissive and talked down to members of the band and crew during the night. At one point, they stated that this was "a bar that happens to have music," and proceeded to lecture me on how sound works and how customers would not be able to hear each other if the band was too loud. This was particularly frustrating considering the extensive efforts already being made by both the band and audio crew to keep levels controlled and respectful for the room. Everyone involved on the production side remained professional and cooperative throughout the evening, but the overall attitude toward live music and production made the experience unnecessarily stressful. As someone who works behind the scenes to help create a professional live experience, it was disappointing to feel like every aspect of the production was treated as a problem rather than part of the entertainment guests came to see. If a venue only wants extremely quiet background music with little to no production presence, they would likely be better suited booking solo acoustic performers instead of full live bands with sound and lighting support.
