My husband and I visited here a week or so ago for dinner. The staff were warm & welcoming. The restaurant is clean, however the food was a bit lackluster. It's okay. Not my cup of tea. I stopped in Margaritas on a slow Wednesday afternoon for lunch. It's a basic Mexican place with all the usual suspects. I ordered the beef taco salad and a side of guacamole. Also, I just wanted to add that I was sat before a table of men and a single seated man, by the same person who was serving and I was served last. Just seems, I don't know, a little weird. The taco salad was full of grease and it was pretty gross. It was edible...after I drained the liquid out. Not good, but edible. SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN!!! AWFUL working staff and LOW quality food. I placed to go order for Carne Asada. Drove all the way home to realize I had a bug in my food. So I drove all the way back up there to tell them about my poor service. Worker tried calling me a liar ! I showed him the photo and he blamed it on the cilantro not being fresh. What cilantro has LEGS???! On top of that, my replacement order was given to me cold when it should have been made fresh! I was nice and I was patient. Unassuming from the outside, but kitschy and cute in the inside. The service was fantastic! We went in on a Sunday around 1pm and it was fairly busy. The menu is large so the hardest part was deciding what to order. The server was really friendly and checked on us a lot during our meal. I had the chiles poblanos and it was delicious! We live about 20 minutes from Margaritas, but this is ALWAYS our go-to for Mexican food. It's always pretty busy, but they sit you quickly, and the hostesses are always very friendly. We went today and it was a bit different than other times (we've been going for years) that we've been. It took the server a really ling time to come to our table and she was rushing. Yes, they were busy so not her fault. However, we places our order for drinks, apps, and food at the same time and everything came out at the same time. The portions have always been large but this time they raised the price if the fajitas and got half the size we normally get. We will continue to go back just disappointed. This place is literally minutes from our house and it's been "our spot" for the full 2 years we've lived in this area. Margaritas always deliver fresh, hot and delicious food! The drinks are always amazing and the service even MORE amazing! I've never had a poor experience here! They even do take home margaritas ;) On this, our last visit due to relocating, I ordered the Burrito Toluca I believe and my partner ordered the Burrito Asada. Both looked pretty similar playing wise and both came with pico de gallo, guac, rice and lettuce. I ordered a side of refried beans because, #refriedbeans lol. My burrito included steak, chicken, shrimp, carnitas ANNND chorizo! That with grilled onions and peppers and topped with queso and red sauce (mind blown emoji) my fiancé had the same but with steak. I also ordered the housemade sangria fresca and oooooweee it was spot on delicious. Red wine, fresh fruit, w/ a splash of tequila and Grand Marnier. Guys, it was delicious! This is your standard white-friendly mediocre Mexican restaurant, the kind where the big draw are the drinks (hence their name) than the food. Not that the food is awful! No, not that. It is "okay" food. I've gotten the chicken mole and I enjoy eating it to an extent, but it is not that great. But it's not horrible. My dining companions, on two different occasions have been more than indifferent to their food and prefer different Mexican places. It's busy, loud, and fast-paced. Service is meh. Don't get me wrong, they work hard but maybe they just have too much to do, because we had empty water glasses for a very long and uncomfortable amount of time. Had a horrible experience here. Why when we were told 30 minute seating and return 20 minutes later to find we had been skipped which is completely understandable but when the host was very argumentative about it starts to cause frustration. In addition to that we are seated and made to wait 40 additional minutes until we are able to order our food. Had it not been the fact that our check was made from our drinks we would have left. I'm a weekly regular at Margaritas. We visit almost every Friday. One of my favorite spots for Mexican food in Indy. The staff is so friendly. They recognize my family and I when we visit. They always interact with my baby, and she loves to "people watch" in this always busy restaurant! The menu has typical dishes that a Mexican restaurant would serve. I typically go for a fajita chimichanga or asada tacos. If you like spice, ask for them to bring you the spicy sauces. They'll bring you three different thick, homemade hot sauces. So so good! My favorite is the spicy verde sauce. Obviously since the name of the restaurant is Margaritas, I have to mention it. I love them! The 24 oz. options are usually a 6.99 special. Overall, we love this restaurant. I ordered the Pollo Azado, which is grilled chicken with rice, lettuce, pico and guacamole. I currently am unable to have gluten or dairy, and this looked like a great option. I wasn't disappointed! I love the seafood chimichanga. It is stuffed full of whole shrimp, fish, and crab. Yes, it is faux crab meat. Thanks for asking. But they make up for it because the fish is also faux tilapia, made from processed and textured lobster tails. (Kidding!). The table side guacamole is fresh and tasty. And I love their fish tacos.
