We came for an early dinner on a Sunday. It seemed a little busy for that time. Inside there's plenty of seating, very colorful, and there seemed to be enough staff. The service on the other hand was a little slow. When they placed the chips and salsa we said we were ready to order and the staff said okay and walked away. It took a while for the drinks to come. The chips were on the burnt side and I noticed other tables' chips were also burnt. The salsa was watery and it didn't come with much in the serving bowl. I ordered the Hacienda Chef Special ($15.99) and they ended up serving me the Hacienda Steak and Shrimp ($22.99). I didn't understand mix-up since I didn't have the menu anymore. The steak, beans, and shrimp were fine. The rice was dry and didn't have much flavor. My husband's burrito was very dry on the inside and he wasn't able to eat it. I will say the drinks are massive and were enjoyable. My husband enjoyed his strawberry margarita and the jamaica was great. Unfortunately, we ended up stopping somewhere else to be more satisfied and full. It could have been an off night for them but we were disappointed in both the service and the food. read more

La Hacienda was a perfect spot for a quick lunch and watch the Colts play. The restaurant is typical colorful Mexican vibe with standard menu. Festive Mexican music was playing gently throughout the dining room. Daily specials include a blueberry margarita, which sounded great and almost healthy, but I had to pass because it was just too early in the day. We sat facing one of the many tv monitors. Complementary chips and salsa came out quickly. I don't usually comment on chips, but these were really good. They were super fresh made, no salt and tons of roasted corn flavor. They were the best chips I've had in a while. The salsa is also fresh made and had a great kick. The lunch menu is super inexpensive ($7.50 most plates). I had a #7 with chalupa, enchilada, rice and beans. The bean chalupa was delicious with lots of fresh guacamole. The beef enchilada was ok - the sauce tasted canned and the cheese could have been melted more. Rice and beans were typical. My husband had the burrito lunch, which he said was very good, but I'm not sure his eyes ever left the football game. He was a zombie. Our server, Merino, was 5 star super friendly and attentive. I stopped in for lunch and went with the fajitas after hearing the sizzling plates coming out around me. The portions were generous, the server kept an eye on our table without constantly checking in, and the bright, busy dining room had a fun neighborhood feel. read more

I came for a holiday gathering and this was my first time at La Hacienda. We were a party of five and we were able to be seated in the restaurant at a table in the middle of the restaurant. I got a steak taco and Camarones A La chipotle which is shrimp in a chipotle cream sauce. My food was really good. The free salsa and chips hit the spot too Everyone else enjoyed their food and drinks. We were able to laugh talk and fellowship without feeling like we were a disturbance. My only small "complaints" were no football on the tvs on a Sunday afternoon and the tip was automatically added to the bill without us knowing. read more

Me and my family came for the Indianapolis 500. The place looked nice and clean. But right away once we got our food we asked to get our side since we didn't get it plus other stuff for our food. Waited for 15 mins everyone got sick of waiting so they started eating and just said if they come back to address that we don't want to be charged for it since we never received it. Once we made it clear after waiting she then brought out the plates. Which made no sense since we made it clear and were pretty nice about it. The food didn't match the pictures as well. The carnitas looked like chuck of steak not matching the menu. Only thing good was the Horchata. I'm not sure if this is every restaurant here since we are out of state. But hopefully this helps travelers! If I could I would rate -10/10. read more

I love the Chicken Soup at La Hacienda especially with Chilies Torado's diced up and the grilled onions. The lunch menu is very afforable, kid friendly with a kid's menu, and the regular menu is versatile and affordable. Even if there is a wait, it moves quickly. I do recommend on the weekend to dine early, rather than after the Club next door opens. The parking situation is tough after the band starts. Regardless, of what is your favorite foods, I think you'll find a favorite on this large, diverse menu. The restaurant has two large dining rooms with booths and many 4-top tables for larger groups. The service is good and 99% of the time is great. The large 27oz. Texas Margaritas are a favorite and extremely popular or one of their cold brews. My mom asked me if I wanted to go out for lunch, and not being one to refuse a free meal, I agreed. I was in the mood for Mexican and La Hacienda was near by. While we didn't order in I really wish we had! This restaurant was clean and well decorated! They played three bangers in a row while we waited for our order. Since this was the day before Day of the Day, we were able too look over the beautiful ofrenda they had set up. I ordered the chicken hacienda burrito and it was fantastic. The chicken was juicy and well spiced. The cheese over the burrito was a delicious touch. There's not a doubt in my mind I'll be coming back in the future. read more

Came here for a quick lunch date with the girls on a Saturday. We were able to still order off of the lunch menu which is 11-3pm. The food was fresh and so good. The waitress got our drinks and food order in and back to us quickly. Lunch specials range from $9-$12 and the portions are perfect. I had Texas fajitas 10/10 my friends had taco salad , and chicken chimichanga. We all order the special margarita which was huge and good for $7.75. Chips and salas was fresh. We spent $61.00 total. Well let me be clear. This review is based on ONE food item. It's so good I had to write a review. A friend from The Global Welcome turned me on to this. I was volunteering and she provided me lunch. La Hacienda has the best chicken soup. It's loaded with good chicken, diced tomatoes, queso, diced avocado, rice, and onions with just a hint of spice. It's just delicious. It tastes homemade. I've had it twice now just so I could be sure that it was as good as I thought. It was! Also a plus , the staff were all wearing masks. This was my first time at La Hacienda on Lafayette rd, I ordered three steak tacos with onions and cilantro with a medium size margarita! The food was delicious especially since I had a craving for tacos!!!! The Texas margarita which is top shelf was really good... the service could've been better but I'm just going to assume our server was having a bad day... During a busy moving day, we were thankful to have a respite to enjoy one of the many Mexican offerings in the International Marketplace. In an unassuming strip mall, we got take out to eat on our makeshift dining room table (mattress). I had the Hacienda Chef special, which was a mixture of very flavorful and tender meat. My partner had the vegetarian combo, which was unfortunately uninspiring and lacked significant flavor. I would have assumed the enchilada sauce was from a can. We were able to salvage her meal with an excellent Chile poblano however. The filling was very tasty and the outside was perfectly seasoned. I find chile poblanos to be difficult to perfect and La Hacienda is among the best in them. After an exhausting moving day, they were able to make our day a little better by offer a to-go margarita. I don't necessarily know if that is allowed, but it was certainly appreciated. There were more hits than misses, which makes La Hacienda a worthwhile restaurant to try again for us! read more

I have purchased food from La Hacienda several times and I have never been disapponted. Additionally, their Margauritas are top shelf. I usually call my order in and I go pick it up within 15 to 20 minutes. Everything is prepared from scratch right there in the restaurant and is served hot and well prepared. After visiting our eldest grandson and his new apartment on the west side, we decided to take him to lunch. Mexican food was agreed upon by all of us and w decided to give La Hacienda a try. It can be a little difficult to find since it stuck in an inner corner of a large building. We ended up driving all the way around just to find it. Although the parking lot needed some cleaning and pot holes filled, Once we pulled up to the restaurant, we found the interior to be clean and lively. we were given our choice of booth or table and we chose a section where the music was not too loud. All three of us ordered something from the lunch menu which was fairly large serving for the price. Our food came with chips and salsa. The salsa was very thin with just a hint of heat to it. The chips were light and crisp...good enough to munch on even without salsa. Our entrees came with beans and rice as well, so a full meal. Service was pretty good and the wait time on the kitchen was acceptable. My wife decided to add a frozen strawberry margarita and thought it needed more mix (not enough berry flavor.) La Hacienda is a good example of what we've all come to expect from Mexican restaurants in the Hoosier state. Margaritas and salsa were both good and the kids meals came out fresh only to be devoured quickly by little Yelpers. Not to get all "well, I've had REAL Mexican food" on ya, but I came here specifically because it was one of the few places with fundido on the menu which is one of my favorites. I was disappointed because it was like, just a chimichanga with some cheese stuff on top. It was like what fundido is in the underworld from that US movie. It was like the Big Mc from that McDowell's place in Coming to America. It was kind of fundido. Like, you if you ever had your heart broken and you know you'll never love that deeply again, the pollo fundido from El Encanto in Cave Creek, Arizona is what wrecked you for all other pollo fundido. read more

Today was our lunch tour with The International Marketplace Coalition. Did you know that around the 38th and Lafayette Rd area there are over 50 restaurants with food from all over the world? That's something you might want to check out and support. This is La Hacienda with wonderful Mexican food. There are things on the menu that are your typical fare and then there were several things that were not typical. I wasn't able to keep the menu long enough to photograph it or study it too long. There was a slight language barrier with a few of the workers. I say slight as in they didn't know what we were saying and we didn't know what they were saying. I only know there were very cordial and worked very hard to please us, and pleased we were. Nice place, nice people, good food. read more

This is my go-to place when I am craving Mexican food or a margarita. I've never eaten in Mexico but if I had to imagine, it doesn't get more authentic than this! My top 3 favorites on the menu are arroz con pollo, chicken fajitas, and the chicken fajita quesadilla. The quesadilla is loaded with cheese and chicken and veggies. So good. I always get the Texas margarita with sugar on the rim. The 27 ounce is a lot with food so I leave stuffed to the max but after a long week it's worth it. read more

Today, the food seemed a little bland and ill prepared but I think that is only because it's a busy Saturday night and the COVID-19 carry out orders are probably overwhelming. My usual go to meal from here is Steak Fajitas , well done with jalapeños added . It is very flavorful, the steak is tender and melts in your mouth. The meat is a sizable portion but I wish they would increase the rice serving size. I adore the salsa. It seems to be house made and had a very authentic zing to it. However, the guacamole seems like something that is squeeze out a tube . It's very mush and watery. Major disappointment. Overall? The restaurant is great! Affordable pricing. Have been coming here since my freshman year of college. The last 5 times I've been here the service has been SHIT. They change the salsa, not good at all, and barley ever come to you after the foods out to fill up drinks or even check on you. So I came here for dinner all because my daughter wanted to dine here I am NOT a fan of Mexican food but my daughter asked me to open my mind to new and different kinds of food so I did and I'm glad that i did . Soon as we arrived we were seated and or order was taken it took all of 15 mins and our food was out our server was very helpful he made sure our drinks stayed filled up and made sure I had plenty of napkins. This La Hacienda was a pleasant surprise. It's tucked away in a strip mall and is not very visible from Lafayette Rd. The food is typical Americanized Mexican, but they have several more authentic Mexican dishes. The place was packed the night we went which was a very good sign as this neighborhood has several Mexican restaurants to choose from. Service was very fast and friendly considering how busy the place was. I recommend this place if you are looking for cheap Mexican in the Lafayette Square area. read more

Normally this is my fav place to eat. I decided I wanted some la hacienda so I stopped there on my way home and put in an order to go. I ordered almost $70 worth of food for my family. You would think that especially with as much as I spent everything would be right. Nope. I couldn't even eat my food it was so soggy and what shredded beef was on my chimichangas didn't even fill half of the tortilla. I ordered deserts too and they completely left out the ice cream that was suppose to go with it. Didn't even give me an option on whether I wanted the ice cream or not. They also left the lids to my salsa not secure so I had a mess to clean up out of my car and outta the bag. Really disappointed with la hacienda as of late. La Hacienda is my go to lunch spot. In the winter time, I usually get their chicken soup. It is like heaven in a bowl. It has chicken breasts, rice, tomato, onion, and nice chunky pieces of avocado. Another one of my faves is the Texas fajitas. It is seasoned wonderfully and the lunch portion will have you looking for a nap before heading back to work. The service is pretty fast and if you go there enough, the servers will already know what you want as soon as you are seated. They are about their business. It gets pretty busy during lunch time, so don't expect to have a conversation with your server. But they are efficient and fast. read more
