Cinco de mayo Mexican Cantina is located on Meridian/State Road 135 across from Dairy Queen and Milto Dry Cleaners. They opened October of 2021 so most of the bugs appeared to be worked out. You'll find a private parking lot, even so, cars were parked in unmarked spaces since the lot was close to full. I thought it was those running in for carry-out orders. The turquoise building is colorful and easy to see from Meridian Street with a nice patio at the end of the building. As soon as you enter, you'll see where to check in and pay for pick-up orders. The lobby/waiting area isn't large but has seating. The interior has many dark wood booths and 4-top tables with a bar area in the back of the restaurant. We were told the Margaritas, and food, is excellent only we had to have carry-out today. Margaritas will happen on the next visit. We ordered off the very affordable lunch menu ranging from $8 - $12. My friend ordered the Mushroom Quesadilla stuffed with mushrooms, cheese, onions, tomatoes and bell peppers with rice and salad. She enjoyed the very stuffed Quesadilla with all the veggies and we both thought the rice was extremely good. I ordered #26 Pollo Chipotle which is Marinated Chicken Strips cooked in their special Chipotle sauce and served with rice and beans. The chicken was tender, cooked perfectly and I really enjoyed the Chipotle sauce. The sauce has a touch of heat and not an overpowering Chipotle flavor. We both were happy we tried this new, for us, restaurant. The menu offers all the traditional Mexican items with Taco Salads, Burritos, Quesadilla, Enchiladas, Tacos, Chimichangas, Fajitas, Chicken, Steaks and Seafood options. The kids menu has 9 kid friendly chooses with Mexican or American options for $7 and includes a drink. We decided after lunch we'd definitely return again since it was tasty plus conveniently located within 5 miles of my friends home.

The food and margaritas were great, our waiter was attentive, and the restaurant itself is really cute.

I got the Langostino Quesadilla that I loved! It was a really big quesadilla too. We ordered agua frescas tonight, but their bar menu is huge and I definitely want to be back for margaritas on their patio. This is prime location for patio season. All our service was very professional and fast. Bonus perk there is a free parking garage attached.... Makes going out to eat downtown way less stressful!

Overall a chill environment and ith a nice front patio/ sidewalk seating area. We enjoyed the chips n salsa varieties, surprisingly the darker salsa wasn't spicier just a different flavor. Orde re d the chicken burrito which was gigantic easily enough for 2 to share. Very well made fresh ingredients, covered in sauces and cheesy. And we all tried different margaritas, mine was a strawberry fruity take on a margarita, good and garnished nicely. Rated fresh and flavorful, not very strong and a bit pricey. Especially with some being $100+ for a drink was wild. Overall nice place, nice environment, wasn't busy and tasted good but is priced higher than most Mexican restaurants in the city.

I don't think you can really go wrong with the tacos, and the flights are a great deal that let you try things in a smaller portion (4 inch in the flight instead of 6 inch for a single taco) for a lower price point. I think my favorite was the Jackpot (jackfruit carnitas with BBQ sauce). Appreciated that they had veggie options! If you're gluten free, one thing to be aware of are the taco shells - for the epic tacos, the standard is a crispy corn shell inside of a soft flour shell. I got the Crabby Patty which had a "guacamole cushion," which I learned meant there was guac between the two shells. If no cushion is mentioned, it's just the two shells. IF you or a friend ask for gluten free, it's TWO layers of crispy corn shells. Lot of crisp. Corn fritters were also tasty. Everyone I came with was happy with their meals. :)

Great dinner here on a Monday night, especially given that it was day 1 of their new menu!…read more We hit happy hour for margaritas and the passion fruit margarita with a tajin rim really hit the spot. For my meal I ordered 3 tacos- the standout was absolutely the new brussel sprout taco. I have been thinking about that taco for a full week. The other 2 tacos (carnitas and a beef) were both good, but the sprout taco was so fresh and flavorful. I would definitely return!

Driving through…read morehere, you see the blight and the abandonment of this area of Indianapolis since the decline of manufacturing. Then again, it's not an uncommon story unfortunately- large parts of the city forgotten in terms of economic development but then suddenly needed during times of campaigning. Had taken Keystone and then Rural Street to get here, and the potholes are not kind. But, we had this place on our list and were determined to make it here at least once. Tlaolli stood out for its vegan offerings. Plenty of vegan taco options, birria (an absolute rarity to see vegan birria), and torta. They offer soy chorizo, jackfruit, and king oyster mushrooms as protein options. The exterior is colorful, and inside there are seating options. We had gotten our food to go, so I cannot comment too much on the service. Had placed our order online, and the food was ready within the estimated time in the order. We ordered the vegan birria tacos ($17.99), the vegan torta ($10.99 base but added soy chorizo, which was $3.99), and the no-no-no taco ($5.99). Our total with fees was approximately $45. Tlaolli offers outdoor seating, so when the weather is nicer this would be a good place to come. Next to the East Washington IPL branch, Tlaolli has a colorful green exterior with neon signage. Food: The food was very good. The proteins were nicely seasoned and juicy. The highlight for me was the birria tacos and the consome. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it. 10/10. This is a great local business in the area to support: offers a diverse menu of options with food that is comforting and tasty.

I'm pretty sure the owner was the one who waited on us. He was friendly and so patient while we decided what to order. I had the chicken chipotle tacos since I remembered them being so good last time but I'm pretty sure you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
