Had dinner with a good friend last night. Not particularly busy for a Friday night, but I just had to pop on and give a huge kudos to the whole experience. Our server, Nancy, led the night with a smile, appeared just when we needed her to, and engaged in some great conversation. (Seriously, she offered a refreshing take on food service. Such a delight!) We were sat right away, was shown quick and friendly service, and had some sublime Mexican food. The table starts off with chips and a particularly spicy salsa, and then, together, we ordered the guacamole, queso, fish tacos and beef birria quesadilla. It was all absolutely delicious. Oh, and I ordered the Naked Jalapeño Margarita with a Tajin rim. Can not recommend it enough. Packed with flavor, with floating lime and jalapeño peppers inside the marg, and *just* strong enough. read more

That go-to place in Waltham to catch up with friends. It's right at the tip of Moody Street and along the Charles so I recommend coming here in the warm weather to sit outside. Now while vibes are good, food is meh. It is a chain Mexican restaurant so depending on what you get will determine your food experience. I like their appetizers esp the baby chimis and the nachos are pretty good. The entrees I've gotten have been just okay. Now hence the name, the margaritas are goooood. I like the classic or the raspberry, with salt! They sometimes have specials if you buy food get a marg for a discount, so look out for those. They have a good pour so a couple can get you buzzed.... and it'll make your food taste better lolololol. Sometimes you'll get your marg in a regular glass like in my picture which always makes me feel cursed but still tasty mwahha. Service is usually good, however the margs usually take a long time to come out? So order those early. They also give chips and salsa for the table which is nice. Margaritas has long been one of my favorite spots to visit, and last Sunday--after enjoying the fireworks--was no exception. Me and my Friends decided to go there to have a good time, but unfortunately, the bartender treated us rudely and unpleasantly. He never welcomed us and acted as if he couldn't care less about us the entire time; he treated other young women sitting nearby poorly, too. At the end of the night, we asked for the check and left a $5 tip--which he didn't deserve, since I believe this job requires being kind to customers to earn a good tip. Today, while checking my bank account, I realized he had overcharged me. It is unacceptable that this kind of behavior is allowed at this place. read more

Great place for some solid Tex-Mex and drinks with friends -- with a convenient location in a multi-college town. Came here on a Friday night for a friend's birthday, and it was pretty busy as expected. The vivacious ambience calls for an upbeat dining experience, you'll definitely have a lot of fun here. Lots of pretty lights and great music. I think it's safe to say Margs takes the podium for one of my favorite restaurants on Moody St. We waited about half an hour for the food for a party of five to come out, which was pretty solid given how packed the place was. I went for the "Margaritas Famous Taster" which came with a beef taco, a mini chicken burrito, and a beef enchilada. All were very good, though the shredded chicken in the burrito could have used more seasoning, and perhaps the burrito could have garnished with pico for a bit more moisture. The ground beef on the other hand, was extremely flavorful and exceeded expectations for Tex-Mex. read more

The fush tacos and chicken burrito were tasty, and I enjoyed the margarita flight. My only complaint is about the chips and salsa. They were complimentary; however, the bowl was filled with broken chips ( I'm guessing that they were from the the bottom of the bag. Where o where can I just get some descent food and a variety of drinks? Well, this chain is one of my favorites for decades. Our haunt is this place on weekend for a good taco salad, some street corn, chips n salsa and a few drinks (new flavors of margaritas and sangria) Staff is always friendly and a little busy. Food: - kids chicken taco: it was good, very flavorful chicken and for me personally, I love how it comes with only one taco and there is an up charge for a second because for me one was very filling. Is. - taco bowl with chicken: very good, but too big. It would be better if there was a half size option, and the price would also be reduced. - fajitas: again portions are big meal came out sizzling hot and had to wait a few minutes before you could eat it. But overall yet again very good. Service: you can summer for service and three words. Friendly, attentive, and helpful. Ambience : there is music playing, but not all is authentic Mexican music. Decor looks authentic tables have tiles on them designs on the chairs. Cleanliness: could be better. My water had stuff in it floating around so I didn't touch it. There were crumbs on the booths and some of the best seats are ripped. Bathrooms could be a bit cleaner, but were spacious. If there is any incorrect grammar, please know I am voice typing . We came here today to get some food because we saw a sign outside that says %50 off for hospitality workers. we came in and asked to make sure if we get those 50% off and they said yes. After we sat down we asked the server again and she said yes we'll get the percentage off but when we got our bill she said apparently you only get the %50 off if you order margaritas, appetizers and entrees so they totally screwed us over the only reason we came there was because it was my only day off and we wanted to get something in our budget. 11/19/25 around 8pm I had a crazy experience where we brought a 10 person party who were people in town for a wedding to get some cheap margs at the local "Mexican" spot. Someone who claimed to be the owner, a small frustrated man, checks IDs of everyone and had the audacity to say that the out of state cards were fake after scanning them when some of us are well into our 30s and had just gotten to town with the same IDs through TSA. Not only did he carry himself with an extremely rude demeanor, he even had attitude with the bride who was only trying to resolve the situation suggesting alternatives and THREW the cards on the table at us, said "You are not going to talk to me like that in my restaurant", and walked to the back of the restaurant FUMING like we were the issue muttering under his breath. You'd think he was having a hard night but there was nobody in the joint, so maybe he was the owner. The salsa was runny, the chips were greasy and as thin as the "owner"s patience, the restaurant dead on a night where the rest of the street was lively, brimming with people in other restaurants (for good reason), and our server nowhere to be found for 30 minutes with no water EVEN when the place was pretty much empty - we walked out after the ID situation. This is a waste of a potentially great space that desperately needs new management, specifically pertaining to the little man with the massive ego. Unbelievable, zero professionalism. read more

Not a haute cuisine place, but good because it's open until late, and you can get food. The blueberry or raspberry margarita was too sweet, though it was noted as a specialty of the house. The beer batter tacos were ok - the fish was fried decently, but why were the green onions sliced so thick? Also one of them wasn't washed particularly well. The mushroom enchiladas plate was okay too - too much mushy stuff around the plate, not enough differentiation of texture. Food simply leaves much to be desired, but grateful that it's open late. oh dear dear. When you name your restaurant "Margaritas" you better be real confident in your ability to put out margaritas! Sadly, This place falls sooo short that its very very sad. I got the margarita flight, which consists of 4 tasters. Three are pre-set and they give you a choice between 2 for the 4th. The preset included the original, blue hawaiirita, mad melon. For my 4th, I picked something raspberry (cant remember and cant find it on their menu) All of my tasters except the mad melon were BLAH. 1st, the tray used to present the tasters was drenched in water. It was messy and not a clean presentation. Its sad to reach for a napkin to wipe you drink and table space before you even sip your drink. 2nd, the drinks were heavily "on the rocks" and left it tasting like a watered down margarita. Did not taste any tequila. Was more like flavored water. The ONLY drink that tasted like it wasn't water was 'Mad melon" However when my bf went to order a mad melon on its own, he got a totally different drink and the waiter claimed it was because not enough Madeira was added. I mean the mad melon i got was a deep yellow, like oil color and the one he got was pink. AND it didn't taste the same so i don't know what was happening behind the bar. Now to food: Appreciate the chips and salsa for the table. I think every Mexican place has to offer free chips and salsa. Not the best salsa but its free so i'll take it. We ordered the fajitas combo (steak and shrimp). This was a good portion for 1 person. I don't think its sharable. No complaints but no rave reviews for this plate. Also got the chicken tacos and those were so-so. nothing special and a tad bland. Lastly, dessert! we got churros and it was a well made churros. I like! they served it with icecream which i liked but would have liked a to be able to dip the churro in chocolate vs sprinkled over the icecream. Lets end on a +ve though, they have a great location and space. Right on moody street, outdoor seating on the Charles and a really beautifully decorated interior. Came here for the first time and ordered takeaway. Ordered the chimichanga mix, the fajita salad, and the churros dessert. Total came out under $40. What's Hot - Service. Our food was ready within 30 minutes of ordering, which is pretty good. When we arrived to pick up our food, everything was ready and marked in a bag. Pretty efficient. The hostess had a face mask and gave us our order without any issues. - Quality of food. Pretty good. My fajita salad had a choice of dressings. I chose the cilantro lime dressing, which was pretty tasty. Definitely a nice lime flavor and it tasted fresh; not too oily, either. Chicken was warm and tender, but not very flavorful/seasoned. The churros were warm and slightly crunchy on the outside. Well coated with cinnamon and sugar. Husband's chimichanga was fried, but not overly so, which he appreciated. - Portions. Pretty decent size portions and enough to make you full. They don't appear to skimp on the portions for takeaway orders, which I definitely appreciate. - Takeaway containers. During this time of Covid-19, where many people are ordering takeaway, having proper take away containers is pretty essential. This place definitely has it. My salad was in a pretty large container, with the dressing and guacamole in separate container. Our chips were in a takeaway bag, which was stapled together, so the chips didn't fall out and make a mess. The ice cream that came with the churros were swimming in fudge in it's own container, as well. Definitely appreciate the fact that everything was organized and well put together so as to not make a mess. - Menu. Pretty good variety and there appears to be something for everyone, especially vegetarians, which is good. - Location. Convenient location in downtown Waltham, where there are other shops and restaurants in the area. What's Not - Quality. Not the best Mexican food I've had, but not bad. Keep in mind that I'm a native Cali girl, so I've had good and homemade authentic Mexican food! Haha... As I mentioned above, my chicken was not very flavorful and seasoned. It seems dependable and reliable in that you'll always know what you'll be getting. But this isn't knock-your-socks-off Mexican food. - Parking. Be aware that at this time of Covid-19, downtown Waltham has streets that are blocked off to help restaurants with space for outdoor dining. That means parking may not be the easiest to find. What's very awesome and unique about this place is the huge patio! The lights are beautiful and the view of the water makes this a great location for a meal or hang out. The margaritas are bomb! I wanted to honor my husband, and his service, and he said he'd really like Mexican food so we found ourselves at Margarita's on Veterans Day. Amber was our server and she was so wonderful! She was sweet, kind, and had good suggestions. She was taking care of many tables and was apologetic if she thought she made us wait too long. Amber really took care of our table and we appreciate it. Margarita's may not be the most authentic Mexican restaurant but it hits a certain nostalgic note with my childhood . The kind of note that includes fried ice cream from my younger days of going to Chi Chi's or On the Border: the churros are quite tasty-crisp exterior and warm center. Not greasy. Like the story of my life-I stared with dessert in this review. Let me tell you about the rest of the meal. We started with Happy Hour nachos. They were substantial enough for the $6 price and tasty. My "chica " margarita was skinny and really yummy. My brother got the seasonal margarita-cranberry orange-and it was very nice. They use a coarse sparkling sugar rum, which I thought was nice. I'm a texture girl. The three of us shared chicken fajitas and the Guadalajara steak fajitas. Refried beans were good, I didn't try the rice, but meat and peppers and onions were also good. Cheese, guacamole, sour cream, and your choice of corn or flour tortillas on the side. I prefer corn tortillas and my criticism of the corn tortillas is that they stick together and fall apart. Still, I'd go with them next time. Margaritas is easy. The atmosphere is easy. The restaurant is open and big enough. I give this place 5 stars because of the gorgeous waterfront views in addition to its tasty food and friendly wait staff. We had an outside table that offered a fantastic view of the sunset over the water. It was unbelievably beautiful. We had a fairly big group and ordered things from quesadillas to burritos to fajitas to salads, and everything was good and in good portion as well. I went here the other day to get out of the house and definitely wasted $40 for really bad food. Here's a breakdown (1) Staff wasn't wearing masks. NONE OF THE STAFF WAS WEARING MASKS (2) Sangria tasted like grape juice. I make my own authentic sangria and what I had was just bad (3) Salsa was depressing. I tried to add hot sauce but really, no hope (4) Couldn't even make a good quesadilla. I wasn't even trying for much and I got what I would expect at say a Chili's Honestly did any Hispanic even help with any recipes. It tasted like what white people who've never even left the North East assume what Mexican food might taste like and are afraid of spice.
