I ordered my usual Greek salad with salmon. Salmon was good crispy on the outside tender flaky inside. Salad greens were fresh and crunch, veggies cucumbers tomatoes and bell peppers fresh. Overall healthy and tasty meal. Hubs got his usual beet salad with salmon which he enjoyed as well. A friend ordered chicken tenders and fries which looked really good and she enjoyed it too. My friend and I both got hot waters which they accommodated no problem. Parking was easy - we lucked out and got parking in the lot behind the restaurant itself! Karaoke was super fun as usual! Highlights. My favorite is probably the tartare, the flavor was perfectly balanced, the cracker was unfortunately stale, and the tuna itself could have been a little fresher. My kids had the Mac and cheese which they said was ok, and enjoyed the sliders. The oysters were good, but the shrimp did not taste fresh and were very bland like it's been soaked in water. The biscuits were tasty but I wish it was a little hotter so it would be more fluffy. I had a spicy tequila drink I forgot what it was called but the bartender did a really good job on it. The server really lacked personality and I wish was a little more attentive to provide us a good experience. I have this place 4 stars because the place is very cute and is a really good fit for the location, as a local, this can easily become a regular spot for myself and friends and it really has the potential to be this! 10/10 -- Our New Favorite Restaurant!…read more We're still pretty new to the area and have been slowly finding our favorite places, and Rail Stop has officially taken the #1 spot for us. We absolutely loved our experience and already know we'll be bringing our friends and family here when they come to visit. We started with the Soprasata pizza, and honestly, the gluten-free crust blew us away. One of the biggest frustrations with eating gluten-free is that there's often a trade-off in quality. You get the accommodation, but the gluten-free bread, bun, or crust is usually just... okay. That was absolutely NOT the case here. The gluten-free pizza crust was so good it hurt your feelings. My absolute favorite gluten-free bread is from Against the Grain, and the crust here tasted incredibly similar to their products. We actually looked them up afterward to see if they make pizza crust--and sure enough, they do. That level of attention to detail was something my partner and I really appreciated. It's one thing for a restaurant to offer a gluten-free alternative because they have to accommodate a dietary restriction. It's another thing entirely to clearly care about the quality of that alternative. Rail Stop doesn't feel like a restaurant that tosses a low-quality gluten-free bun at you and expects you to be grateful. They genuinely care about the food they're putting out, and it shows. The gluten-free fries were another huge highlight. They were perfectly crisp and SO good. Finding gluten-free fries that I can safely eat when dining out is rare, so it was such a welcome surprise. Typically, fries are something I have to skip, so being able to order them and actually enjoy them made me feel surprisingly... normal. That meant a lot to me. We also had the house-roasted turkey sandwich made gluten-free, and it was fantastic. The gluten-free bread held up really well, the bacon was amazing, the basil in the pesto was delicious, and all of the flavors worked so well together. It was also a very generous portion. We tried the buttermilk fried chicken as well (this was made regular, not gluten-free), and it was "solid", my partner says. Everything we had felt thoughtfully prepared. Nothing was greasy, the portions were generous, and the quality of the food exceeded our expectations. They also have a separate fryer, everything is house-made, and they're able to make modifications to accommodate gluten-free needs. That level of care made us feel very comfortable dining here. And then there's the bathroom, which sounds like a strange thing to rave about in a restaurant review, but it was impressively clean and genuinely pleasant. It was... elegant? I know that sounds ridiculous for a bathroom, but it really was. Even the locking mechanism on the door was thoughtfully designed. My partner kept looking at me and saying, "DUDE..." like Crush from Finding Nemo, because he was so impressed with everything. We also want to give a huge thank-you to Neythaniel, who provided exceptional service. He helped guide us through the menu, was perfectly attentive to what we needed, and was somehow also handling the host stand while taking care of us and other tables. It was frankly not safe. The driveways were partially blocked for construction which I had to navigate around as a pedestrian. This is not realistically accessible for those who have mobility limitations (the temporary attempts at ramps are not usable with a wheelchair). I was given beverage menus after arrival. They were extremely hard to read as the lighting was turned down. I did manage to read it when I put the menu directly under a pendant. The beer and wine selections looked interesting! I was looking for something non-alcoholic and there was no water readily available nor offered. There were a few (maybe 4) mocktails on the menu-they looked interesting so I got one that resembled a mule (ginger beer based). I ordered one so I wouldn't be empty handed as I talked with people, especially at a networking event. The server gave it to me and made a point of saying "here is your mocktail" (which itself is not unreasonable; referring it by its name or "beverage" is much more appropriate in those circumstances as the drink type and alcohol content or lack thereof is not anyone else's business). The food menu never appeared. The appetizers that were left out for the group were picked over and unappetizing. Cold fried calamari that has been sitting out? No thanks. A cheese and cracker board with no crackers and no serving implements? No thanks. There were two flatbreads there-I had a small square of each and these were ok. About 15 minutes before the event was scheduled to end the server asked me if I wanted another mocktail. I responded with an affirmative. I assumed he had canceled the order as the event ended. As I was getting ready to leave when the event ended (I had my jacket on at that point and he had validated my parking!), he brings over the mocktail and says "here is your mocktail" and sets it on the high top table where it just sat as I left for home. When we asked our server, Sarah, about it, she explained that it was was a fee imposed by management. This is separate from taxes and tip. This was completely a scam on the part of the establishment. It is a money grab for literally nothing but a way to pad the restaurant and doesn't go to the server. Sarah (our waitress) was outstanding ! - We were a larger group and she was so attentive and friendly. While the food was good, atmosphere very nice, the administrative fee (basically theft of the consumer) is a dealbreaker. We will NOT be back despite living in Watertown
