I stopped in for dinner a couple months ago. Decided to sit at a booth in the bar area. There was some sauce all over the table/seat, so we moved up to the actual bar. Lo and behold, it was dirty as well. Chips and salsa delivered promptly but after waiting 5 minutes or so to see a bartender (never did) while perusing the menu we came to our senses and bounced. Outstanding restaurant. Outside of the building could use some attention but the inside was very clean and comfortable. Although it wasn't the best I've had the Chili Colorado was very good. My wife had a Stuffed Poblano and it was excellent. The child's taco was large enough for an adult and our granddaughter said it was the best she's had in a long time. Worst experience ever. After waiting longer than anticipated my party of seven did not get to sit together even though three other tables were open and would accommodate my party. Our food took over an hour and the waitress did not check on us once to see if we needed anything or to update us the food. Within that hour many others parties came in, ate and left. Willing to be Vegan Friendly They had a few vegetarian options on the menu in the vegetarian section. I was there for a late lunch and got the lunch fajitas and made them vegan by asking them to leave off the flesh, sour cream and beans which they happily did. Their refried beans have cow lard in them. Decent portion size, veggies were not soaked in oil like many Mexican restaurants do. Service was a bit slow but everyone was very friendly. If you're craving Mexican, I would highly recommend this place. The portions are generous, prices reasonable, and depending what you order, super delicious. I ordered "Fajitas Del Mar" (~$16), which came with tilapia, octopus, scallops essentially stir-fried with bell peppers and onions. As a tourist in Myrtle, I was pleasantly surprised how much cheaper seafood entrees here were, compared to where I'm from (the Triangle). My bf was starving, so he ordered "Fajitas for Two" with chicken for $19.50, which if they truly were for two (and they turned out to be), already made it cheap at ~$10 per person. There weren't many people around, so our food came promptly. As the food arrived on sizzling platters, everyone said "Woahh", because all our fajita dishes consisted of THREE plates. That's right...one for a generous helping of mouth-watering/cheesy beans and flavorful rice, a second plate for all the toppings (guac, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, big scoop of sour cream), and finally a large pan that required an oven mitt that contained the seafood fajitas. My friend also ordered a chicken dish that was served in an impressive-looking stone pot. Needless to say, the presentation was awesome given the prices, and we barely had room on the table for elbow space since most of us had 3 plates each. The seafood itself was fresh and good, and tasted great stir fried with the onions and a squeeze of lemon. The chicken was pretty dry in all the chicken entrees though, so I would recommend ordering a seafood dish here. We were supplied with tortillas to wrap our entrees and "sides" in as well, but I was sort of disappointed that they were flour and not corn tortillas (like most of the authentic Mexican places serve). Not a huge deal though. In summary, I was very impressed by the presentation and good value. The seafood fajitas are a must-try: great value for the out-of-towner. I would recommend avoiding the chicken dishes though, since they can be a bit dry. read more

I haven't been here in a few years, but we headed over last night on a Busy Friday night. We had a table for six and luckily were able to sit down right away. It was packed in there! Every table was taken for the most part. Chips and salsa were brought over pretty quickly And their salsa is awesome! Well specifically this the spicy one. The mild one was a little too bland for me, but my almost two-year-old loved it! Dishes at our table range from fajitas to quesadillas to me getting a grilled chicken dish. Everybody was very happy with their meals. I will say though, service regarding the food coming out was really slow. I just think it was so busy in the kitchen couldn't keep up. I will definitely be back, it has been a long time and I am glad I gave it another shot. Can't say much about the margaritas, didn't have a chance to try them. Two stars because the service was good. The salsa was a little like ketchup soup (although the spicy version was decent). The chips were stale and had no salt. The frozen margaritas tasted like plastic - it's obvious they use a very cheap mix. My taco salad came with a blob of gross "meat" at the bottom, and was soggy. The sour cream was grainy and tasted artificial. The guac had a strange neon green color and didn't have much in it besides avocado. Cheap ingredients add up to a very bad meal. One of the worst Mexican restaurants I've been to in my life, and I've been to a lot. read more

Oh my goodness, I can't recommend this restaurant more. We were recommended this restaurant by locals and I can really see why. The service was great and the music and decor certainly set the vibe. I got the burrito supreme which I believe was about $16 and I had half left over. If you get the seafood, the portions are not as large. Also, not the place to go if you have to make a lot of adjustments to your meal. For example, you can't really do many substitutions and I'm pretty sure you can't order no cheese. You get free chips and salsa when you are seated. My favorite was the spicy salsa and they also have a mild one. We love Mexican food and thought we would give it a try. Our server was terrible. He took our order and waited on other tables. I know they were busy but he did not come back to us until our food was ready. Another waiter was so kind and apologized for the delay in receiving our food and helped get us more chips and drinks. Then when the food came it was only warm. We waited so long that we just ate it as it was. Finally, I asked the kind waiter if he could get us our check. We didn't even take the leftovers because the food wasn't that good. The restaurant is old needs lots of updating especially the kitchen. We could see right into it from where we were sitting. We have eaten at numerous Tex-Mex restaurants in MYB area. Margarita's is one of the better and at the top of its price point. They are quick to wait the table and get your drink and food to you. The prices are more reasonable than most all other comparable restaurants in the area. They provide free thin warm tortillas and two small carafes of salsa-mild and hot. The hot salsa is pretty spicy and both have great flavor. Their servings are plentiful and are authentic Tex-Mex. The only negative is the availability of parking. read more
