This is a hidden treasure. The service was great. The staff was very attentive. They answered our questions and made suggestions. The menu is huge. There is something in the menu for everyone - food and drinks. The portions were big. The food was also plated well and hot! We were able to sit in the outdoor area and enjoy the wonderful weather. The decor and vibe inside was nice and inviting. It's a nice spot for meeting friends, a date, or family.

Ate here for a late bday get together with friends. The place has really food. My dish today had shrimp, fish and crab meat in it on top of rice and veggies. It was enough to take home enough for a complete meal at home. The service was ok. We had to flag our guy down a few times but after we made our requests made our requests were fulfilled. Both times I have been here there was no wait for a table. Plenty is seating is available. Ambiance is nice.

I use to like this place mainly for their margaritas but my last visit was not enjoyable. Food is just decent, my frozen margarita was good but a bit thick, and the service was rushed. They had a large party that night so this could be why it was off. Another thing was that the restrooms were gross. Anytime I use a restroom at a restaurant I equate the cleanliness of the restroom to the cleanliness of the kitchen for some reason and it just made me lose my appetite.

My husband and I were in town for a concert. We lived in SD for over 20+ years so we were craving Mexican food. Boy were we impressed with our meals. The portions were big. We both loved our dinners. My steak fajitas were so well seasoned and the presentation was fantastic. My husband's poblano meal was huge! Very nice presentation also. The service was great. We had attention from all servers. It was nice that the servers all worked together as a team making sure we were satisfied with everything. Birmingham is lucky because they have a fabulous and authentic Mexican restaurant. Really wished the would come to our new home in NC. We are really missing good Mexican food. We will definitely stop by this place again. They earned a 5 star from us today.

There's not enough room to share how good the food and the service was here. From order to delivery was less than five minutes. I had no time to scroll on my phone and that's a good thing. I ordered the Cachitos which is shrimp, steak, chicken and carnitas with veggies, rice and beans. It was a high protein meal and it was delicious.

All in all it was an ok experience.... I arrived pretty close to 11:30 on a Friday. They didn't have too many people here yet, so not an issue getting seated. When I first walked through the doors they have started decorations for Halloween - so they seem to be seasonally festive which is kind of cool. Lunch menu is pretty standard set up with a variety of combos that you can choose between, all for a lunchtime value price. I would say that the lunch prices for their combos are probably 15 - 20% higher than other Mexican restaurants with similar menu styles. Service was prompt, but again, not as prompt as some of the other places I go that are closer to work. Service is friendly, but they don't check up on you much while you are here. Take order, bring food, bring check .... again, all friendly, but just not a ton of interaction. Flautas - one chicken and one beef. The chicken was the way to go, good flavor. The beef didn't even seem flavored, so was relatively bland. The salsa was serviceable, but far from my favorite. They are a solid three star review, but I probably would opt for places closer to my work in the future.

I ate here (or thought I did) awhile back. When we entered, everything looked different. Turns out that back in October 2018, new owners took over and renovated the interior. I don't even remember what the name of the old place was called. Margaronas Cantina is located in Homewood on State Farm Parkway parallel to Lakeshore, across from Moes, Godfather's Pizza and McDonalds. Just a stone's throw from Lowe's MC is conveniently located at a busy intersection. They have a very nice and spacious outdoor patio with tables and booths scattered throughout the interior. Their floors could use a good mopping because I really have a pet peeve about sticky floors. I did notice (and took a picture) of their attractive and interesting single blade fan directly above their entrance table. We eagerly awaited their chips and salsa and I was pleasantly surprised. Their chips were thin, crispy, and nicely salted. The salsa was also quite good. So good I got a to go container to pack up what was left. Our server also kept the chips and salsa refilled. A big plus right there as my family of 5 were pretty hungry and were devouring chips and salsa. Rachel tried the Enchilladas Suizas. Large portion, arrived steaming hot. She reported that it was good. Sarah tried the Quesadilla Fajita. Again a very large portion. Looked delicious, but Sarah couldn't finish it so she had leftovers. She also reported that it was good. Tammy ordered the Street Tacos with steak. The 3 soft flour tortilla tacos were filled with glistening steak cubes covered in delicious sauce. She said it was good. Matthew tried the Burrito Azteca. He really liked it because he cleaned his plate. Finally I decided to try something different... their Mexican Spaghetti! Pieces of beef in a cheesy sauce with mushrooms poured over a bed of flat pasta. It was just "ok" for me. The sauce was rather bland for me and I had to add some salt and pepper. Otherwise it's an interesting idea and I had a lot of leftovers to doctor up at home. For dessert we tried the Choco Chimi. Whipped cream, chocolate inside a fried tortillas... let's just say that we should've ordered two! MC is not unlike many of the other "mexican" restaurants in town. If you've eatened enough mexican food, it all starts to taste similar and we all tend to gravitate to our favorite based on other things like atmosphere, drinks, service, etc. MC had great service and all our food arrived in a timely manner and arrived warm/hot (a big pet peeve of mine). And the chips and salsa made my evening. So if you're like me and didn't know this place was under new ownership since October, give them a chance.

I've always passed by the restaurant but never thought to go in. They do have a deal on the Local Flavor app where you can get $20 worth of food for$10. Customer service here needs to be worked on. I asked our waitress for a booster seat and she never brought it. I ended up having to get one myself. She wasn't around much...we had question about the menu and she always seemed to disappear. When she did come around she seemed annoyed by our questions and I really wanted to to just get up and leave but we stayed because the kids were hungry. I ordered the sangria margarita. Let's just say it tasted very watered down....another disappointment because Mexican restaurants are known to have good drinks. For my meal I ordered the fajitas Mexicana. The portion was good and the meat was seasoned well. The guacamole side was very tasty too. The rice and beans were bland. My daughter got the kids pepperoni pizza and fries. She loved the pizza but she didn't really eat the fries. The only reason I wouldn't go back to this restaurant is because of the lack of customer service.

So this has been on my list and I finally came here on a Thursday evening with my son. It's at the end of a shopping center where a Walmart is. We got there about 5:30 PM. It was not busy at all. We were promptly greeted by a hostess that sat us in a booth. We started off with the chips and salsa, but on the menu it does say after two baskets they will charge you for the chips and salsa. We only had one. The chip could've been a little thinner. It's rude to find a raspberry margarita so I wanted to get one unfortunately they didn't have any frozen ones. They were just on the rocks. I was pretty shocked when I looked at the receipt and saw that it was $17 for a Margarita and it definitely wasn't worth that much. It had kind of a weird taste to it. We did get the cheese dip and it was very delicious. I decided to try the Mexican lasagna, which was so delicious. I got it with the beef and it was layers of ground beef, pico beans, and possibly some rice too. It was a good portion and I ended up bringing the other half home. My son ended up getting nachos with shrimp, chicken and steak and he really enjoyed it and finished his whole plate. I will definitely be back sooner than later because I love some good Mexican food, but I will probably end up getting just a soda next time. Fernando was our waiter and he was very attentive. I will say the restaurant in the bathrooms were clean. There's only one bathroom each for men and women. I would think it a restaurant this big they would have more stalls.

Being downtown, parking is not always the greatest, but it was a lovely evening for walking less than a block to the restaurant. It was a Saturday evening so there was a little wait, but we were able to sit outside and have a drink while we waited. Once inside, the place was dimly lit, really loud with music and very clean. And for having unisex bathrooms, those were surprisingly clean as well. Our waitress was great, I wish I could remember her name... but I do know she was from Cali. We ordered a couple of strawberry margaritas, which were just your basic drink, but still refreshing. Started off with a basket of chips, salsa and fundido. This is considered an appetizer, so no freebies here. The chips were fresh and warm, the salsa had a nice flavor and the fundido was ok according to the kiddo. We had the grilled shrimp tacos with rice and beans. You had to assemble your own tacos tonight, and order rice and beans separately as the taco plate had no sides, but all delicious.... Beans had a nice kick, the shrimp tacos were missing something in my opinion, but not sure what. We also had the best shrimp quesadilla we ever tried. It has overly stuffed and cheesy with wonderful lime cream sauce to go with it. This entree was a huge hit all around and it did come with a side, so no extra charges. To finish off dinner, we all shared the strawberry tres leches and OMG... Absolutely the best we have had in a while. Too bad it's seasonal. Over all, great experience and would definitely g

It's the clear winner for overall Mexican food in the area. Their birria tacos are phenomenal, the drinks are delicious and refreshing, and the sauces actually have real flavor, none of that overly thick, bland stuff you get everywhere else. They nail the meat every time: perfectly cooked, tender, and seasoned so well you don't get any of that "gamey" or off taste some places have. It's consistently solid across the board. They also have kind workers and the ambiance overall is good. Spacious enough for some privacy although I don't like some of their seating chairs...the benches that are connected between you and someone else behind you. A few times I had customers behind me moving a whole lot and it wasn't very pleasant. Honorable mention for tacos specifically: Mezon food truck (another gem I had to find independently). Lesson learned the hard way, don't trust most Birmingham recommendations; they've let me down too many times. Acapulco is worth every visit.
