Unfortunately this ended up being a mistake. I have lived within miles of this place but had never had anyone over decades ever recommend this place and now I see why. The entrance host was actually great and the vibe in here is legit for a real Mexican vibe. My problem was unfortunately my server. Maybe it's her first day ever or some bad day for her. Also the chips were actually stale and as I ordered street tacos she just dropped off the meat tacos and zero other stuff like every street tacos at any place in the world. She never gave anything. I would recommend coming here for an end of work day with coworkers but never ever come here for a relaxing meal. read more

Food is amazing birrias are the best in the city when I'm near I go here only had take will sit in the nxt time

Server messed up our order and didn't bring my wife anything. Margaritas were weak and watered down. Overall just a waste and not worth it. read more

The food is authentic. The vibe is so warm, with Mexican "home cooking" especially the weekday buffet! Service is great - everyone is so sweet! And the prices are very reasonable. Debated whether or not to share because I don't want anything to change! read more

Enjoyed the food here. Service was a bit on the slower end during our visit. We ordered margaritas, but they never came. This was probably a good thing due to the very generous portions of food we received. I don't think I could've stomached a margarita! Had we known how large the portions were, we would've just stuck with the appetizers or entrees - not both! Lol. read more

Los Predros has been my go-to spot since I moved to Birmingham. I ordered birria tacos and cheese dip. Ordering on the phone was a little difficult because of the language barrier, but we were able to get it. The staff is extremely friendly and efficient, which always makes my experience better. The food tasted fresh and was full of flavor. I recommend Los Pedro's to all of my friends and come at least twice a month. The facility is also very clean and has nice décor. My only negative experience comes from ordering through the phone, but they are very sweet and try their best. read more

First of all, let me start off by saying that I have been on the hunt for Birria tacos in Birmingham for a longggggg time, so when my good friend told me that this place had them, I was all in! The birria tacos were worth the hype!! The flavor was unmatched and the consume that's intended to be used as a dip was immaculate. I would 100% try them again and any other food this amazing restaurant has to offer. Giving 4 stars because I feel like the margaritas were watered down and didn't have enough tequila in them and the cheese dip was a little off; not bad, just off. But that's honestly just personal preference. Overall, a great place to try authentic Hispanic cuisine. read more

This restaurant was good a few years ago. Today we walked in and there was a flying cockroach that landed right on the table where I was sitting. There's mold in the ceiling and everything looks so old. I would give the food a Solid 4.5 from 1 to 10 rate. The restaurant was empty, me and my wife were the only ones in there and we still had to wait a lot to have the waitress take our order. Overall not a great experience. read more

Went here on a night it was not busy... there was no host/hostess when I walked in so I stood there awkwardly until someone finally arrived. I wasn't sure i sat anywhere or needed to be seated by an employee. After a minute or two a lady then took us to a table and took our drink order but never came back. We then had a waitress that could not understand When we told her someone had already taken our drink order.... She stated something in broken English and never came back. No one ever came back to the table... we ended up leaving after about 20-25mins. We couldn't even signal a staff member bc no one was paying attention. We left partially because no one had come back to the table but mostly because it was DIRTY on the inside. Several Tables were left with food on them, trash and food on the floor near tables and THEY DID NOT HAVE THEIR FOOD SCORE POSTED ANYWHERE. In the bar area there was what appeared to be a sign that contained the score but the score was hidden! We then felt even more uncomfortable and left knowing that it was probably a blessing in disguise that we did not get served. I had already seen one review where a roach was in the chips but I was willing to give them a chance anyway bc that review was about two years old. It is what it is. GROSS, Gross, Gross. read more

My brother and I went for dinner and it was packed. We were a bit disappointed with the chips, salsa, and cheese dip. The salsa was a bit watery and the chips had a weird taste. However, we also got the carne asada fries and they were delicious and definitely shareable. I ended up getting the birria tacos and they were good. Will definitely give this place another try. read more

This place is not the fanciest joint. We went to have our first birria experience. Couple of things: the wait staff was very friendly! She admonished my excitement! I had a strawberry margarita with patron and it was gewd! The cheese dip I can tell has real heavy cream in it...we thoroughly enjoyed. Now for the main event. The Birria!!! They were ok. They were not great. The consume needed some acidity to punch the flavor. It was not served with lime and afterwards I thought it would helped with the flavor. The brisket used is very tender but could use a bit more flavor. Would I go back again...yes. I would try something else on the menu related to seafood. They seem to have a lot of dishes that looked great with seafood! Order a side of limes if you order the birria tacos and add to your consume... read more

Authentic Mexican restaurant with an extensive menu and really good prices. I stopped into this place today because I was craving Mexican. Glad I did. It's not all gastronomy meets tacos, which is a theme that's sort of getting a little played out. It is however a good, solid Mexican restaurant that surely has something on the menu for everyone. They do a lunch buffet for 10 bucks until 3pm, which I narrowly missed but it turned out to be ok because I ordered from the menu and for about the same price I got more food than I could eat. There's tons of seating, a full bar, and the crew seemed really friendly. My food came out quick and was delicious. I ordered a steak chimichanga and it was fried to perfection. The steak was above average and exceeded my expectations....especially given the price. It is a little bid hidden in a strip mall off Lorna Rd near the intersection with Rocky Ridge Rd, but it's worth looking for. With so many Mexican restaurants around it can be hard to distinguish one from another. Basically, the food was hot, seemed fresh, and the menu had a massive variety of things that you don't find everywhere. Add that to the friendly service and the really good prices and you got a winner. read more

The food is very Alabama Mexican food so if that is what you like you will love it. I'm from Texas where the food is a bit more authentic so I prefer that. But it wasn't bad food. read more

I came for the birria tacos, i had seen many reviews of them being good and wanted to try for myself. I found this place that had them. They were ok, I had higher expectations. I am very pleased to share my latest discovery here in Hoover. Los Pedros Mexican Grill is located in the strip center at the corner of Lorna Road and Rocky Ridge Road. I refer to the area as "little Mexico" because of the cluster of residents, shops, and restaurants that are concentrated in this part of town. Los Pedros is different from most Mexican restaurants. They offer a lunch buffet from 11:00-3:00 for $10. I was impressed with the buffet. There are two serving tables. The first table contains a variety of hot foods. The options included: rice, re-fried beans, tamales, fried tortilla topped with chorizo sausage, beef fajitas and chicken fajitas. Also, there are some authentic dishes that I was not familiar with. These included nopales rellanos (cactus), meat balls, beef stew, chilli rellanos, and a noodle dish with shrimp (similar to a Chinese stir fry). Our waitress recommended the homemade chicken soup, and it was quite tasty. The second serving table contained fruit, vegetables, and a jello dessert. This table also included sliced limes, chopped onions, and cilantro as condiments. You can serve yourself from a variety of salsas (two red and two green) that were flavorful and spicy. The restaurant was pretty crowded for lunch on Wednesday. The clientele was primarily male, and I estimate 90% Hispanic. The diners appeared to be mostly blue collars workers with big appetites. The kitchen did a great job of keeping the demand. Festive Mexican music was blaring from the sound system, but I didn't mind. It made the experience feel very much like a Mexico City restaurante. read more

Today I had lunch with my friend and fellow Yelper, Paul, who also wrote a very good review about Los Pedros. Los Pedros is tucked away in a shopping center on corner of Rocky Ridge and Lorna. We were surprised to find that they offered an all you can eat buffet for $10. Our waitress even brought us complimentary chips and salsa after she took our drink order. The chips were better than most. They were freshly fried and even slightly warm. We hit the buffet and piled our plates. I sampled about 80% of the buffet. My favorites were the cactus fried with scrambled eggs, the fried tortilla topped with chorizo and a dollop of sour cream, and their stir fried noodle with shrimp and broccoli. All tasted delicious with a myriad of flavors. I also enjoyed sampling their different salsas. The 2 "red" salsas were flavorful but HOT. There was another "avocado" salsa which was creamier and sour. It was unique experience for me because I've never tasted a salsa like that before. Then I tried their salsa verde. Wow it tasted fantastic, but was it HOT! When I put a few sprinkles of it on the cactus/scrambled eggs and ate it with their Mexican rice... YUM! Their deserts included various cold fruits including cantaloupe, papaya, and pineapple. They also had what looked like a huge birthday cake that was very elaborately decorated. I completely forgot to try it because I was so full from trying everything else. That is one of the reasons I will return. One thing worth mentioning about their buffet is that their *hot* serving table was only so big and they seem to "rotate" dishes. That is, when we first arrived, they had their cactus/egg dish. But about 15 minutes later when I went back, instead of the cactus/egg, they had the stir fried shrimp with brocolli. I also noticed that when their papaya ran out, they brought out pineapple. In other words, if you want to try *all* their food, you may want to pace yourself and get a table near the buffet serving tables. Service was excellent. As Paul mentioned, it was pretty busy for a Wednesday lunch crowd. There was plenty of help with many waitresses busily walking around. It was easy to get anyone's attention despite the loud music. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The $10 all you can eat buffet price is very reasonable for the variety and quality of food you will receive. Check out Los Pedros. If you're dying for a specific burrito, they can probably make it for you, but if you want to sample a few different dishes and have a good hour to eat, try their buffet. read more

So I went to this location wanting to eat their tacos after so many great reviews from friends and family members on social media. I ended up inviting some family members on a Saturday. In short it was nothing like what friends have been raving about. I have been deceived! I was expecting street tacos smothered with the meat on their double layer tortillas cooked in the meat juices like how they show on social media. All the adults ordered tacos, which as you can see from the picture I shared, it came with one homemade tortilla, which was falling apart and was just warm and eventually got cold. I ended up ordering 4 different tacos, barbacoa, al pastor, steak milanesa and tripa, the meat was not to my liking at all. There was no flavors were not all that. I believe the only one I actually liked a little bit more was the barbacoa, which had a better flavor to it. The other tacos were a disappointment, I felt the al pastor was not truly cooked all the way, the steak milanesa was hard almost jerky like with no flavor and the tripa was just so wrong, being that it was only boiled, it taste awful if they do not fry it afterwards. Not only was the tacos disappointing but my daughter chorizo fries were not tasty and she was not a fan. My niece had the shrimp plate and as you can see form the picture they look overcooked and were very chewy. The aguas were decent but were a little bland to my liking. Almost all of us ended up not eating the food and was just a waste of money. I really don't expect returning anytime knowing there are better out there. read more

The food and service were great!!! They have a few drink specials. The food was well seasoned. This will be out go to for Mexican food!!

My husband and I went in one evening with our toddler. It was a weeknight and a bit later than the typical dinner rush so it wasn't that crowded. The decor was pretty standard for this type of restaurant. We were greeted when we walked in and were seated promptly. The menu is pretty large and has some interesting choices. We chose a kid's quesadilla for our daughter and my husband and I both got the Bistec a la Parilla, which is skirt steak, a cheese enchilada, rice and beans. The food was only fair to me. The steak had a decent flavor, but it was very chewy. The cheese enchilada, rice and beans were pretty typical. The salsa and chips were okay, if slightly stale. Our daughter really enjoyed her quesadilla and some of the beans though. Service was okay. Not as good as I typically see in this type of place. Usually they are right on top of it and make sure your drink isn't even a quarter empty. We had to wait on drink refills and it took a while to flag someone down to get the check. All in all, I probably won't go back. However, I urge anyone looking for something different, and probably more authentic to give it a try. read more

I'll just go ahead and cut to the chase, don't waste your time or more importantly your money here. The few times I've been here the food has always been sub par, luke warm and tasteless. Today was the final straw when there was a roach and pieces of roaches in our chips. The waitress was kind about it but the manager/owner didn't do anything about it. Didn't even come to the table to apologize. The place is just disorganized. The "carne azada" tasted like it had been chillin' in the freezer for months. Like I said in the beginning don't waste your hard earned money here. Taco bell isn't that far down the street. Last time my family and I will be there. read more

Two weeks ago my husband and I came here and LOVED it. We came back and the chips weren't as good, the salsa wasn't as spicy, and the chimichanga was completely different! It had more bell peppers and onions and the steak pieces were bigger. Very disappointed because I loved it so much and was craving the same thing we had two weeks ago. Still good but not as good as it was. read more

Very Delicious! Loved the Mangonada!! I was looking for a place just like this and I'm so happy I found it.

We walked in and live music was playing. This place was absolutely packed at Sunday brunch. The menu is in Spanish so I found myself having to google to figure out what was on the menu. They have a huge selection to chose from. I had the stuffed lobster it was so very very good. It really is too much food. This dish could have been split between 2 people. My husband had the steak fajitas and they were very very good too. The fajitas also were way to much food too. This is the best Mexican restaurant in town and authentic Mexican food too. So glad we discovered this gem of a restaurant. read more

IF YOU ARE NOT LATIN I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND, I WAS IGNORED AND LATIN CUSTOMERS WERE GIVEN SERVICE. I came in and asked to eat at the buffet, I was asked to sit at the very back next to the fan, that's fine. However every time the waitress came by the table next to me she would completely ignore me. I wasn't asked if I wanted a drink, I was not given any service and completely ignored for the nearby tables which, you guessed it, were Latin customers. I was very dissatisfied with my experience. A buffet is fine, however you get better service at Denny's and Waffle House, neither of which I am a regular. I never leave reviews on places even with service that may serve cold food however I've never felt so insulted and dismissed before. I even caught her eye as she continued to serve other customers and I was not helped. The point of a restaurant is to at least be given a cup to get your own drink with, however the way this was was set up was that you should be served at least that, a cup, a drink and get your own food. Terrible business, I can't believe it has this many good reviews. Even when I pointed this out when I went to PAY, all I was offered was a drink to go for free. I declined as I believe leaving an honest review would be better. Maybe this is why I get for being inclined to eat at a buffet. NEVER AGAIN. DO BE WARNED IF YOU ARE NOT LATIN YOUR SERVICE MAY BE POOR. I am a minority and DESPITE this I WILL NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS. TERRIBLE SERVICE BE WARNED. read more
