Tonight was the first time we've been here. Hands down delicious. The chips they give you when you sit are yummy - not a drop of oil. We had flautas as an appetizer, they were so Delicious and again not oily at all. My 6 year old daughter had the skirt steak which was cooked to perfection. We asked for it medium rare and that is what we received. I had the chicken in red garlic sauce - it was slamming. So delicious and just enough of spice. The guys had fajitas- flavored Great the only complaint is the meat could have been cooked a little less. The waitress was extremely friendly with a great personality. Have been coming here for years and always have given it a true 5 star rating. The past few times I have come here the quality of the food has dropped as well as the preparation. The green peppers in particular were slimy (maybe spoiled and cooked). The veggies were always crisp and tasty in the past. (I think they changed the chef and kitchen help). Also the portions have gotten smaller and the prices have gone up. I live 20 miles north of Lyndhurst and have always taken the ride because I thought that this was the best Mexican food in Bergen County and have recommended the Mariachi Grill to numerous people. Sorry I can't say the same anymore. Even the Salsa chips don't come out hot anymore. I think they are out of a bag now. I do hope the owner sees this review and does something about this or I won't be coming back. Maybe he has to take over the kitchen himself and make many improvements/changes. I'm so sad to see this happen and this is not something you can blame on Covid-19. This is about quality and paying attention. This business needs a turn around and I know that the owner can do it because he's done it before. Look I do understand what's going on with Covid and am even willing to pay the increased prices but not for sub-quality food, poor preparation and smaller portions. Hope they get back on track. Being from Southern California, good Mexican food is something that I am constantly searching for here in New Jersey. I can honestly say this is the most authentic Mexican food in North Jersey. I grew up in California eating authentic Mexican cuisine. It is by far my favorite of all. Since moving to NJ it seems a never ending quest to find a really amazing Mexican restaurant. Well 'seemed' because as luck would have it I found the Mariachi Grill! The tacos are authentic and fantastic. Hard to choose a favorite since all the options are tops. The Flautas are fresh made and superior to any I have had in memory. But the best of all is the mole sauce! WOW! So delicious I want to lick the plate clean! Both the chicken and beef enchiladas in mole are wonderful but for me the beef reigns supreme. For dessert I like their flan a whole lot and thought it was their best dessert until one day my son and I split an order of Churros. Another WOW! The staff is super attentive without being intrusive, they are very committed to providing a top quality experience. I have had them deliver once and the delivery man was terrific. The food was hot, well packed and just as tasty as if I was at the restaurant. I cannot recommend this eatery highly enough. I'd give it 6 stars if I could! read more

This restaurant was AMAZING; I will definitely be back !! I went on a Sunday evening (around 7PM), and I was pleasantly surpised by the atmosphere and decor of the restaurant. It was classy without putting off casual diners, and the dining room and bathroom were very clean. They started us off with tortilla chips (not greasy or overly salty) and salsa (mild and chunky with fresh vegetables), and we ordered guacamole to go with it. HANDS DOWN, the best guacamole I've had in the tri-state area. Small chunks of avacado, crisp tomatoes, and the hint of spices were perfectly mixed. My father ordered beef enchiladas with mole sauce and ate every bite, even after stating multiple times that he was full. The portion was four medium enchiladas with plenty of sauce and came with rice and beans. My mother ordered beef empanadas and raved about them. The crust was flaky and made in-house, and the filling was portioned perfectly. This dish also came with rice and beans. I ordered a chicken burrito, and it looked different (in a good way!) from any one I've had before. The tortilla was obviously made in-house as it was flaky and imperfectly shaped (not the factory-cut, perfect circles you get at most places). This entree didn't come with rice or beans because it was stuffed with them! I couldn't finish the burrito and ended up taking half home along with one of my mother's empanadas. Every item of food down to the garnish was fresh and delicious. The beans weren't salty like many other local Mexican restaurants, and the rice was fluffy and flavorful (not run-of-the mill, plain white rice). I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend this place and intend on returning once a week. Please support this local business because it's a gem in our community! **UPDATE: I called to inquire if they deliver (they do!), and my call was dropped. Not 30 seconds later, the owner returned my call, apologizing for what was likely not her fault and asking if she could still be of service! Now THAT is proper business!! I ordered chicken tacos, chips and guacamole, and rice and beans for delivery. They were all absolutely delicious and fresh and REAL! Also, delivery was prompt, and the food was solidly packaged. 3.5 stars. The food here is pretty good but it's far from the best Mexican food I've ever had. I found the menu to be a bit uninteresting. I had a chorizo burrito (which they nicely accommodated as a bowl without a tortilla) that was solid. The red and green sauces on the table were the stars of the show for sure. Guacamole wasn't bad either. I wish the atmosphere was nicer. This place looks nicer from the outside than it is on the inside. The open kitchen is loud and smoky, and the decor looks as if someone googled "how to decorate a Mexican restaurant" and stopped reading halfway down the page. So as long as you know that this isn't fine dining, you WILL be fine. Lots of people were stopping in to pickup food. BYOB. Came to Mariachi grill on a Friday night with my college besties for a dinner reunion. While we waited for 3 of the 6 to arrive we had nachos and guacamole . It was so delicious that we couldn't bare the idea to save any for the rest of our friends. It was gone by their arrival. For dinner, I had the fajitas, a few girls ordered quesadillas, others the tacos, and lastly the churrasco. I can't speak for everyone else, but my fajitas were plentiful and delicious. Super clean, spacious spot on Ridge Rd right near the train station. We went for lunch on a Saturday, and it was empty and not hard to find a seat. The menu was modest in size, not the three and four page novellas that other similar spots have. It was refreshing and easy to make a decision. We both went for the shrimp quesadillas while crunching on the complimentary chips and salsa. Great portion size and big flavor, freshly cooked veggies and shrimp, some cheese, folded into a flour tortilla and served steaming hot. Nothing pre-done here....made on the fly, and you could taste its goodness. The question is, does this remain the same when it's a full dining room? I hope so. This place has single-handedly ended my yelp-atorium (harhar). It's a new spot to the area (just 9 months), and a friend actually was the one who suggested the place. As one naturally inclined towards hole-in-the-wall spots, I was superexcited at first sight. Stepping in, it's warm and welcoming, and happy - you'll know what I mean when you see it. Chicken was perfectly executed. Even the chips were supercrunchy, nongreasy, nonsoggy, & were offered with fresh, cold pico. Guac - YES, so many times YES. Fish tacos (fried tilapia chunks) are better in the city, but fairly solid. They could use some radish and crema, but overall if I were craving fish tacos, I'd order them again. The place is BYOB, super friendly, no corkfee, at least not when we went. They're working on their license, but I'm personally a huge BYOB fan - cheaper and we bring exactly what we want! Absolutely delicious! The food tastes like it is cooked with love, the service is wonderful and the restaurant is filled with positive vibes. The 4 of us went on a Friday night and were seated quickly. It's BYOB so we brought our own beer from nearby and had it with our meal. Between us, we got a quesadilla, steak, shrimp, chicken, nachos, and empanadas and it all came out to only $60!! And one thing that is make or break for me is the salsa that a Mexican restaurant gives with their chips; and Mariachi does not disappoint, their salsas are great! The menu is not extensive, but what they make is very good! I suggest their NY Strip medium rare (it comes perfectly medium rare), the churrasco, or the cielo mar y tierra... Mariachi Grill is the bomb. It's conveniently located near the Kingsland train station, and it's across the street from Angelos. Large portions, delicious flavor, and extremely reasonably priced for what you're getting. They have separate lunch/dinner prices. The menu isn't gigantic, but everything looks and tastes amazing. I had a chicken dish, and my date had the chorizo empanadas. The place isn't huge, but it's somehow still spacious (we went around 8:30pm and there was no wait). They have a "bar" area, but it's BYOB, so don't get tricked. We had red wine with us, so we were good to go. While Lyndhurst is filled with restaurants and pizza places, their Mexican selection is limited. This place is definitely worth trying, and even though it already has amazing ratings, it is still a hidden gem to most. My biggest complaint? Not coming here sooner! This is a really small and quaint place. We stumbled upon it randomly. Since going to Mexico, it's been hard to find a place that actually sells a Mexican meal that is not Americanized. Their food is not overpriced and you get ALOT for the money you pay. We had the flautas, my husband had a burrito, my dad had the shrimp in red garlic sauce and I had the tacos. This restaurant doesn't have the biggest dining area, nor the fancy decor... it is however a great place for an amazing meal! The interior is very nice and the service is outstanding and the staff always greets you as soon as you come in. You're always asked what you'd like to drink which is nice since I've been to other places and waited for a long time to be seated and once at a table, I wait even longer for beverages. Got to try their Horchata! My favorite latin american native drink. Their food is more than enough to share sometimes. Churros are the best way to end the night! A very nice place. Came here for the first time. Everything we ordered was delicious. My table ordered the chicken enchiladas in green sauce (amazing), shrimp mariachi style (the jalapeños are hot!) and steak fajitas (large pieces of steak). Everything tasted fresh and the amount of food you get will not disappoint. Also, did I say BYOB!!! Service was great. Street parking can be tricky but well worth it. We'll be back for sure. I walk by this place everyday and finally checked it out, glad I did. The portions are huge, the price is right, and the place looks great. You get free warm chips with amazing salsa. The staff is very friendly. Two things for the company, water glasses are too small and it looks like you have a bar so I would suggest putting a BYOB sign in the window.
