First time trying birria tacos and these were sooo yummy!! The lady was so kind and the food was made so fresh. The birria sauce was so flavorful, and both tacos came with sauces. The pastor tacos were also good, not as flavorful as the birria, but still a great dish. I would 100% come back with 2 orders of only the birria tacos, star if the show, oozing with cheese and packed with tons of flavor. Great spot for quick bite with the most authentic flavors. I really wanted to like this place since it seems like a local mom and pop but unfortunately, the food was just okay. We came by for lunch on MLK day at around 1. I had the al pastor quesadilla. The pork was overly spiced with cumin (?). There was pineapple in the quesadilla, which would have been nice if it wasn't canned pineapple because it was sugary sweet. Hubby had the birria burrito, which I tried and was also just okay. The consomme tasted very watered down. My pictures are from 2 different visits, but doing an overall review. This place has been on my list for quite some time so I'm glad I was able to finally visit. On my first visit, I went in to find what seemed to be a husband and wife team cooking right in front of you, small place with only 2 tables. The lady took my order and did not speak English, unfortunately this led to her making me the wrong dish but they were quick to fix it with no problem, although the man did speak some English so not sure why he didn't take my order. Anyways, I got my birria nachos to go and living only 6 mind away they were still in decent condition when I got back home. However... 1. All the cold toppings they add on top caused all the warm toppings to get cold too. 2. The chips were mostly broken and small pieces. 3. My personal taste, something spicy was missing. It needed a kick! Now I wasn't giving up on this place, today I went in to try their beef soup & pupusas. The lady was working by herself, which made it difficult to order since the soup is not on their physical menu but we made it work. She told me the pupusas would take 10 mins and I'm not mad at it because they are made to order, fresh! When I got home I was so excited, the pupusas were absolutely delicious and fresh tasting. Tasted 10/10 those are definitely a winner. The soup was so good too, couldn't tell if it was salty or just a concentrated beef stock but either way, it was hot, comforting and everything I needed. Had plenty of meat in it too, that's a nice bonus as soups usually come with limited protein. Ordered through Seamless and it was quick and easy. I really wanted to order from Mi Sabor because they offer pupusas, my favorite! It's a little difficult to find them in the area too so when I saw them on Yelp I got excited. The chicharron, beans and cheese pupusas are delicious and at 3 for $10 you can't beat it. They were perfectly fresh and really filled. Very well made. My boyfriend got the chorizo quesadilla and loved it. I thought it had a bit too much cotija cheese but that's just my tastebuds, he really loved them and can't wait to get them again. We also tried the nachos de Birria and they were good and jam packed. Truly so much meat and toppings. Their green sauce is a little odd on the nachos, it's something I'm not too familiar with but it's tasty. Their salsa verde is super flavorful and fresh. Overall a great spot with a huge menu. Was craving a chicken quesadilla and came across this spot on yelp / google. I've must've driven passed this place countless times but it is easy to miss. It got pretty decent ratings so decided to give it a shot. Between my boyfriend and I, we had an order of cheese empanadas, birria quesadilla, chicken quesadilla, 2 smoothies, and tres leches cake to go. The place itself is very small, had 2 tables for seating and dining in. The chicken quesadilla was nothing special, I've definitely had better. The chicken in my opinion didn't seem seasoned that well and the tortilla could've been crispier. The birria quesadilla though was soooo good. Only thing is is that it didn't come with consumme but we asked anyway and they gave us a side. The cheese empanadas were literally hand made fresh. I was wondering what was taking so long and I turned around and watched them make them fresh and fry them, and they were soooo good. The smoothies were eh, couldn't really taste so much of the mango flavor. The tres leches slice was 10/10. If I were to come back, I'd definitely try the birria tacos cause those look really good and the birria in the quesadilla was super flavorful. read more

A great new hole in the wall with no signage. It's a one man show kind of place with 1 dine in table and lots of take out orders. I would advise you to call your order in and give it 30 min. Birria tacos were great and had so much flavor without being salty. Both hot sauces didn't have much heat. Will be back to try more items. Street parking available. read more

I Recommend this place for the tasty food, friendly service from the owner and pretty good pricing. This is more of a pickup or Uber eats delivery type of joint. This place still needs to put up some visible signs as it's hard to notice this place at night. Hope they do soon. The chicken burrito I ordered was massive. Half of it it is the length of my hand and it was only like 12-13 bucks. 4 tacos for 12-13 bucks ain't bad at all either with nice salsa on the side. The set of 3 Birria Tacos was a big hit for my fiancé who said it was better than our favorite place in Paterson. I bet the birria empanada would be worth a try too. This place is definitely a unique gem in East Rutherford. My family is Salvadoran so it's wonderful to have a local place that makes pupusas. I always get the chicken and cheese pupusas even though they aren't listed on the menu. My husband loves the birria selection. He got the chicken birria burrito and it was huge! Bigger than a chipotle burrito! It was massive and loaded. It even had avocados stuffed inside. The owner is so nice and funny. He's a real character but in a good way!! Stopped by Mi Sabor Latino the other day and tried their steak tacos. Absolutely delicious. The portion was generous, the meat was well seasoned and the little slices of avocado on top made it perfect. Service was friendly and quick, which made the whole experience even better. I enjoyed it so much that I told my coworkers and my wife right away. She went the same day, had her own meal, and loved it so much she even had enough leftovers to take home. Do we really need another Chipotle or Taco Bell in the area? With a great independent local restaurant like Mi Sabor Latino, there's no need for that boring chain food. My wife and I managed to escape from the kids and get out for a date night. After a relaxing couples massage, we decided to go grab some birria tacos. I saw some recent reviews online for Mi Sabor Latino and make a bookmark of the location to try. Be prepared for a tiny restaurant when you arrive. There's no sign on the outside but it's a cute little establishment on a corner in East Rutherford. Ample free street parking is available. Bench-style seating for about six or eight people is all they have but most of the orders seem to be takeout or Uber delivery. Don't expect the menu, because there is only a one page list of what they make... no prices listed. But be rest assured, the portions are overly generous and the price is extremely reasonable. We decided to have Birria nachos as an appetizer and then split an order of Birria tacos for our meal. Wish I had thought ahead to BYOB but it had not even occurred to me. After placing our order, one of the assistants dropped off a bowl of homemade/storemade (not a bagged commercial version) tortilla chips and an awesome green sauce, which was reminiscent of Peruvian aji verde sauce, but more mild. Damn, that green sauce was like crack for us. Just could not stop eating it. So much so that I asked him to pack me a to go container to bring home so that our kids could try it. The food arrived after an approx.10 minute wait and boy was it worth it. Check out the attached pictures to share the details. Sorry the chip bowl is mostly empty and there's a couple bites out of our meals. We could not help but dive right in! Check out birria nacho plate picture - tons of meat, fresh, avocados, Cojito cheese.... YUM, Another customer stopped in to place a takeout order and ordered some mango smoothies. The owner made some extra and dropped them off on our table as complementary desserts. It's that kind of "above and beyond" effort made by this establishment that will ensure that we are going to be returning customers. We will definitely be back to this restaurant and will bring a few friends and/or the kids with us. Will remember to bring our own cerveza or margaritas! The gentleman doing the cooking was the owner, was jovial, extremely friendly, and just a generally nice person. No language barriers here and he made us gringos feel right at home. Even after finishing our meals, we spent a good, 20 minutes at the counter, chatting with the owner as he was preparing other takeout orders. He's a hard-working, family man who invested his savings in this location to bring good food to the neighborhood. It's his passion. Feel good about spending your hard-earned dollars at this establishment and let's keep him in business. He needs us and we need him! Let's all partner for the win-win. read more

The food here was superb and authentic. Per usual, we ordered way too much but happy we did as I'm writing this as I'm finishing my leftovers. We ordered the birria tacos (4pc), al pastor burrito and chicharrón and cheese pupusa. Everything was absolutely fresh and delicious! The tortillas you could tell were homemade. Great crunch on the birria tacos, flavor of the consomé was amazing and the tacos were filled with meat and cheese. The burrito my fiance said was great! The pupusas were AMAZING. Nice and crunchy on the outside with amazing filling. This will be our new spot when we are craving Mexican food and Ecuadorian pupusas.
