Why is it so hard to find good Mexican food in Illinois? I was very disappointed in Mariachi's Tacos. I dined in and had the lunch special at a good price. I ate beans, rice, a veggie taco, and a ground beef taco. The chips brought to the table were good and fresh. The salsa was alright. The beans and rice were nothing special and the tacos, the tacos........ They were so bland. Especially the beef, which should have been packed with plenty of flavor. I expect a whole lot more when everybody in the restaurant is primarily not speaking English. Unfortunately, luke warm service and unsavory food are not enough to bring me back.

A hole in a wall kind of place. They have a full menu. With lot of options. We all had veggie burritos and nachos. Burrito was huge. My wife didn't even finish her burrito, it was that huge. We went right before closing, the place remained open even after closing which was nice. Service was quick. And our server was helpful with lot of patience. We took our own time with 2 kids. So thank you. Will visit again.

Tacos are good comfort food that is usually and it doesn't cost you an arm & a leg, but taco joints are a dime a dozen ranging from excellent to meh. My wife and I were looking for something fast and we happened to be in the vicinity of Mariachi's Tacos. We decided to eat in as is our preferred method as you get To eat your food hot right away instead of carrying it home. The owner/server brought us hot crispy tortilla chips w/an excellent salsa (5 stars). The salsa was puréed tomatoes, onion, garlic, cilantro & jalapeño (excellent flavor w/a touch of heat). The tacos were pretty good. I got 3 taco dinner w/2 steak & 1 shrimp taco along w/very good rice and beans. My wife ordered the 3 al pastor dinner w/beans & rice. I think the al pastor tacos were actually better than the steak tacos. Better than average tacos. I really enjoyed the seasoning on the rice(maybe I was just hungry) but the star of the show was the salsa

Food is good. Ordered Asada taco plate and it didn't disappoint. Flavor is good and serving size is plentiful.

Food was pretty nice- about middle ground, I ordered two carnesada tacos without onions, extra cilantro, (was for someone else, i love onion) and six other tacos with everything on them. I came home, opened the foil and all 8 tacos were covered with onions... Quac was pretty good .. chips were thick super hard crunchy. I would go back to try other stuffs on menu.

I checked this place out for the first time recently while I was in the area wanting some tacos. I saw good reviews and thought I get some tacos to go. The restaurant was well lit, clean and spacious. The ordering was pretty easy. There was a tacos and tortas menu on the chalkboard, and a full menu by the cashier's/ takeout counter. I ordered two Al Pastor tacos, one Cecina (seasoned steak) taco, one shrimp taco and a pollo (shredded chicken) taco with rice and beans. I got a couple of hot and mild sauces to go along with it. After eating our tacos, my wife and I were quite surprised as to how bland our food was. We said to each other that based on the reviews this food doesn't even come close to being good. It was average tasting at best. Not sure how this place is so highly reviewed and I am certainly being objective as I feel that I have had my fair share of tacos to be able to assess that. The Al Pastor was okay but still underwhelming in taste. The Cecina was a major let down as it was totally bland. It didn't taste like seasoned steak at all. The shrimp taco was just so-so and the pollo was flavorless unless you added the hot sauce. The rice was okay but the beans were just average in taste. The best item was their hot sauce which had a nice smoky flavor. I was really disappointed by the taste of the food and am still scratching my head as to how this place has 4 - 5 stars reviews. The service was good and the prices are great but the flavor of the food was not good. Therefore, it's a three stars review from me. Not really my type of place when it comes to the flavor of the food.

You can tell this is an authentic Mexican restaurant as soon as you walk through the doors. The food is really good! My wife is Mexican so she can be a very hard critic when it comes to Mexican food. We both enjoyed our meals and I would definitely recommend. The waitress was really kind and let us try the horchata before ordering it.

We have not been here for a few years, but was reminded by yelper Howard L. We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The restraunt was relatively empty, but it was mid -afternoon and the waitress said we just missed the rush. I tried the taco salad and asked the waitress if she would recommend the pork or chicken. She recommended the pork and I am glad she did. The pork was tender and flavorful. The taco salad included guacamole, beans, cheese and the usual ingredients. The taco shell was very good, flaky and tasty. My husband had the carne asada and shrimp taco plate. The tacos were very good. The carne asada was tender and plentiful. Each was topped with onion and cilantro. The food was very good, their prices are very reasonable and the staff are very friendly. Glad we tried them again after a few years, and will not wait so long to go back.

We came by for the 1st time to try the food, because of a lot of recommendations and we were not disappointed. We're not drinkers, but they do not serve liquor here, but you can pick up some packaged foods and are welcomed. Of course, I had to try the Grilled Chicken dinner and my wife had the enchilada dinner (2 cheese and a ground beef). The Grilled chicken consists of two breast, marinated and pounded thin. The dinners come with rice and refried beans, plus grilled onion heads and also a grilled jalapeno and this puts the dish over the top. The chicken is thin, but grilled with a crispy edge, super moist and taste out of this world. My wife's enchiladas were excellent, but she made the wrong choice in sauces. The red sauce is the hotter and the green is mild. Other than that, everything was outstanding. Our server was very friendly and helpful, so don't be afraid to ask. We are returning this weekend to try their soups, Posole and Menudo, which they only have on Saturday and Sunday. Please give this place a try, I think you'll like it.

Service was a little slow (but seems like this the new norm with small businesses these days; so giving them some grace) but the food was good! Our server and cook were super nice and gave good recommendations for our first time experience. Reasonable prices and if you pay by cash (as of when this was written) you can save on the transaction fees. My picky daughter enjoyed eating her taco asada with the green salsa and some of my sour cream from my enchilada platter. My husband's Bistec a la Mexicana was the best dish out of all of ours ... perhaps cuz it was different than your typical enchiladas and tacos and burritos. It was tasty and came with your choice of flour or corn tortillas. I definitely recommend this dish and would definitely get it again. My enchiladas tasted good and I enjoyed them. My 10 yo son enjoyed his chorizo tacos and got full from them. I will def come back because I want to try their burritos and other dinner options our server recommended.

We like to try different Mexican spots throughout the area and had never tried this place. Upon entering, it's pretty small but there are seats throughout for dining in. Bright colors on the wall, casual place. I called ahead for pickup and the food was ready about 10 minutes later when I arrived. Prices are pretty standard to what is out there at other places. I ordered 2 steak burrito dinners. Both my husband and I did not care for the meat; my husband mentioned that it tasted more like ground beef & it had a somewhat sweet flavor to it. The portions were big and filling, but the rice was pretty bland.

We were around O'hare airport and we wanted to have mexican food. We found this place from Yelp and found the actual building quite easy. There wasn't many people at that time which is around 3pm. We got in, greeted and we can sit wherever we want. Once we seated a server came and ask for drink and food. It wasn't that long until we had our food which was quite a surprise because four of us had completely different meals. We tried each other food and everything was amazing! My husband tried many mexican food and he said their food is authentic. As fast as they served the food that's how fast we finished the food too. read more

Best F'ing chorizo I've had in a long, long, long time. Perfect mix of soft juicy bits with crunchy caramelized pieces of sausage! Extra flavorful! I'm full from my burrito and happy! So I had some time before my flight back to NY, stopped here to get a bite.... what a pleasant surprise. I had the pastor and la Mexicana, which is marinated steak taco...borh tacos were excellent !! It rivals some of the best tacos from Southern Cali. If u have few minutes before ur flight stop by this place, don't spend ur $$ at the airport food, it's less then 10min to the Ohara airport car rentals... read more

Having just completed a meeting in the area, figured I'd grab a bite somewhere. A quick search (via Yelp app) of the area brought up a few results. The easy choice would have been Paradise Pup.. but I wasn't feeling like having anything from the grill. Instead I came across a listing for this taco shop and while thumbing through photos caught wind of their Al pastor. It looked meaty and marinated, so I thought why not. Reviews looked decent so I stopped by. The inside is warm with bright colors popping out at you. The space is inviting although very, very small. They've packed in as many tables and chairs as they could without overwhelming it too much. The arrangement of wall menu, check out counter and dining tables could use some reworking to make the flow work better. Ordering off the wall menu in the middle of a room of diners you kinda feel forced to order quickly, rather than having time to make a better choice. The best parts of my lunch was the cost and the chicken noodle soup. Lunch was composed of an al pastor burrito and a bottle of agua. I decided to dine in. The waiter gave me a complimentary bowl of tortilla chips with salsa and a cup of chicken noodle soup. (Funny to me, because I too had made chicken noodle soup at home and was trying to finish it all week.) Their soup had a good kick but was not a menu item. A part of me likes to think had it been on the menu, I would have packed my burrito to go and eaten soup instead. Soon after, I knocked off 1/2 of the burrito and taken the remainder in a take-away container. The burrito was packed with lettuce and diced tomatoes. It could have been wrapped better, it seemed the burrito was bursting at both ends. Contrary to other reviews, the meat portion was limited in quantity. Also they diced it down to tiny pieces. At that size, it could have been better appreciated as a topping to a salad. (With these small taco shops that go through the pain-staking process of marinating, I feel that the meat could be cut into slivers. This way it can be appreciated for its handling & technique. I guess for the next guy, you could request it cut into chunks / slivers.) With tax and tip, spent about $9 dollars. Now looking back at photos, I should have tried a combination plate. But without explanation of their menu and no one to ask questions... I decided on familiar over experimental. Don't go traditional, go outside the box! (Side note: I may have to bring my own hot sauce or salsa verde. I desperately needed something to add flavor to that average burrito) read more

We were staying at the O'Hare airport Hilton for a conference and found this hole-in-the-wall taco place close by. Definitely a mom and pop type, authentic Mexican. The tacos were very good - we tried the steak, el pastor, the tongue, and chorizo (the tongue was slightly under seasoned but supplemented well with the salsa). What really blew me away was the fajitas - seasoned to perfection. I would recommend this place for a quick, cheap bite to eat if you happen to be staying by the airport. read more

Good food clean and friendly! To the "Karen" who reported the salsa as "watery" the salsa served with the chips is excellent! The bottles of red and green salsa served with the food are more "watery" but that is so they pour though the tip of the bottles. Overall food is good! Grew up in Mexico the food is authentic. Will return next time I am in the area! Nice people CLEAN restaurant good food what more can you ask for!! read more

We were just looking for a quick place to eat before a concert at Allstate Arena. Since we were from out of town we "Yelped" and found this place less than a mile from the arena. It doesn't look like much from the outside but DO NOT judge this book by its cover. This is top-notch authentic Mexican food made fresh. It's a very small place with limited seating but service was great and timely. The fajita platter was AMAZING as were the taco salads and burritos. If you like Mexican definitely give this place a try if you are in the area. read more

Needed to pick our daughter up at ORD and I had a taste for Mexican food. No time to eat before leaving from the far NW burbs. I saw the reviews and I thought let's give them a try. The restaurant was clean, well decorated and well maintained with many prints on the brightly painted walls. This place was a hit with their delicious, juicy, and moist tacos with fresh onions and cilantro. They were better than home made. I had 2 heaping steak and one heaping chicken tacos. They were to die for. The rice and refined beans were fresh and delicious. The amount of food they serve is huge. I was stuffed but I had to finish it since the dish was OH so delicious. I couldn't stop. We have several good Mexican restaurants by us BUT this place ROCKS. I will drive over an hour to eat the food here again. Try them you will not disappointed. read more

Mariachi's Tacos is located in a shopping center and is easy to miss if you're not looking for it. It's small - there are about four tables inside, but don't let that fool you. The menu is extensive, with breakfast, tacos, taco salad, tamales, tortas, burritos, fajitas, and more. Everything is in both Spanish and English and the person at the counter spoke both languages very well. Food is affordable and authentic. It was $6 for a burrito! read more

Although this place doesn't look very impressive, the food is delicious! It taste much more authentic than some other nearby places. It used to be very affordable, but because of inflation/COVID/supply chain issues the prices have, understandably, increased slightly. But not too much. I've never dined in because the atmosphere doesn't appeal to me. But the take-out service is fast & accurate. read more

Seriously my new favorite spot. The atmosphere is small, so everything is made fresh on the spot. The flavored are fantastic, and everything (seriously, everything) is delicious. The fish tacos are killer, and even their rice and beans are better than other places I've been to. Their Jugo de Jamaica is in my top two, and they house salsa and bottled salsas are fresh and delicious. Literally perfect! read more

Wanted to really like this place. I had the steak burrito and Tacos. I had better. Mediocre at best. You can find many more places that have better. I really wanted them to be AMAZING with all the Yelp reviews but in my opinion many more other Mexican places have better. read more

Located in a small strip mall by Touhy Ave. near 7-11. I've tried the other mexican restaurant the area but this is so far the best to my liking. The people working are nice too. The have lots of choices in their menu but i always order the steak tacos and chicken enchilada. I like it that the spices are not so overpowering. This is just a small place and could only have less than tables. We always order to go from this place. read more

I can't find fault with this place. It is what it is, a local, family run place in a strip mall. The girl behind the register made suggestions, for the taco plate. For $8.99, there were three well stuffed tacos, rice and beans. You can get your choice of meat fillings. Chips and salsa were free, and decent. Fact: the tacos needed nothing for flavoring! They were that good. I watched a steady stream of take out orders coming in and out. It impressed me that she went over every order, line by line, and made sure what was inside was what was ordered. Most impressive. I would recommend this place definitely! read more

I used to love their food... their tacos, fajitas, burritos, really anything I used to order, tasted amazing. BUT one day, while picking up an order, I saw one of the workers take salsa from one of the tables and dump it back in the big container of salsa. I don't trust them to go back there again. Sorry! I was excited this placed opened so close to my house, and after two years of going there, I was utterly disappointed and disgusted. I just can't go there again. Maybe I should just avoid their salsa lol read more

We are visiting from Michigan and staying nearby. This was the number 1 rated restaurant in the area, and I LOVE authentic Mexican street tacos. Nothing better than some fresh lime, onion and cilantro. Their prices are low, but the quality is high. I had two steak tacos. If you are ordering them with flour tortillas and lettuce and tomato, you are doing it wrong. I also had a tamale and a jarrito to seal the deal. The mole had a bite and I liked it. And the tamale was super moist and tender. Our chips were a little stale and chewy, but the salsas all had good flavor. I was sad to see that they had wood carvings on the bar counter, had posted a sign asking people to not handle them, and almost every single carving was broke. Because people ruin everything. Stop in and try the food!!! What are you waiting for?! read more

Went for the first time and they did not disappoint. Got sopes and nachos. Walked in and placed a to-go order and probably waited what seemed like only 5 min! Good amount of food, fresh and fast. didn't love the nachos but the sopes were on point! read more

This place is fantastic. The only draw back is I live in California. So it will be a some time before I get to go back. We tried the asada tacos, the pork tamale ,chili rellenos. Im in love with the way they make their chili rellenos. I wish I could bring the chef home with me. The staff is very friendly. And they hustle and keep everyone taken care of. I love forward to my trip there in the spring. I will be back. read more

Just ordered the steak tacos, steak burrito and rice/beans. This is not the same restaurant I first tried almost a year ago! The food changed. It's bland and no flavor. The beans/rice were not good. The taco and burrito were so bland that We couldn't finish the meal. So disappointed. Was there a change in the kitchen? Not ordering again. read more

It does not look like much from the street but upon entering, you will find a cozy little spot with inexpensive prices and quick service. The food is good too. My wife ordered the quesadilla and I the burrito. We both took home half of our meals because the portions were generous. Whether you like green or red sauce, you will find that both are mild so no need to worry about heat. No alcohol here. read more

I've been meaning to check this place out for over a year now on my adventure to try ever taqueria in the world. Finally there at the right time... Nice clean simple décor restaurant. The service was friendly. The prices are very reasonable. I ordered a steak Burrito. It was delicious. The beans were a real stand out. The portion was generous. Nice small place. Large menu written in chalkboard. Mostly to go orders. Ordered the steak burrito. Very good and half was enough for a meal. Guac and beans were also good. The flavor was amazing, not too fishy, perfectly paired with citrus, and minced small enough that we weren't left chewing our seafood for long. This paired perfectly with the accompanied chips, or if you're me, just eat it by the spoonful because it was that good and refreshing. The molcajete was....insane. You can't go wrong with flame grilled meat piled high in a stone bowl, but each piece had it's own flavor and was so delicious. Though served with homemade tortillas to make your own wrap, I couldn't stop myself from just grabbing the meat on its own. This was the first time I tried cactus as well, and to my surprise it had just as much flavor as the meat. The salsa that is poured on top of all the meat pools at the bottom of the molcajete after your meal, making for a great treat at the end with some rice. Speaking of rice, their rice is perfectly fluffy and has great flavor as well. I'm typically not a fan of beans but I couldn't stop eating the ones that accompanied our meal...how did they season everything so perfectly? I also ordered the enchiladas oaxaqueñas (mole), but ultimately was served the verdes. This wasn't a big deal for me and I didn't even bring this up since I devoured my plate anyway, but after reading a few reviews have found out that they often are out of the mole sauce and possibly just served me the green sauce for that reason. Something to be aware of in case you were set on trying their mole! All in all, this restaurant packs flavor, quality, and great service. Staff was always attentive and I wish I lived closer to try more items.

Next time I need to do my wife's play and order double beans instead of beans and rice. My tacos were messy but cooked well, with lots of bits of steak. I was a little confused because I thought my kid's meal would come with a drink, but they charged for his lemonade. I assume it's because it was a special blended drink and not just from a soda fountain. Now that we know this is here, we'll definitely be back, especially seeing that they have a patio for warmer weather. Glad to see we have an option when we're missing our city days.

This is some of the best sushi in the suburbs. I'm definitely a sushi snob after going to Japan…read moremultiple times but this did not disappoint. The zuke salmon (from the Ari signature nigiri) was one of the best bites of nigiri I've had. The smoky maki and the Ari maki were also amazing. The fish is so fresh and the combinations blend perfectly. The service is great and the ambiance is very nice as well. Definitely recommend!

The place is far more modern and updated looking with fresh booths and pretty painted walls, despite being a long standing establishment. I am a big fan of Latin restaurants who have of mix of food from different countries on their menu. One of the countries is sure to get short changed. However, this place surprised me. Their menu was diverse but well thought out. The food was actually very good and it was delicious. The pork was well seasoned, moist and succulent. It was served with your choice of rice or beans. The service was good as well. Our server was warm and welcoming and explained the menu in detail. This place is definitely worth a try. read more

If you're near by and want to eat good but not the best Mexican food and won't be disappointed ? That's the place. Staff were very helpful and kind, place overall looks okay like most of that type of restaurants. Food: Nachos were fine Fajitas with chicken stake and shrimp were on of the best I've had Tacos- unfortunately not so great, meat was dry so I had to add lots of salsa to eat this and add some extra flavor Mix of grilled onions and jalapeños were delicious. This place serves the most authentic food in the area, hands down. The service is remarkably fast, the prices are reasonable, and the menu offers a fantastic selection. Every dish I've ordered has been nothing short of amazing, and I've yet to be disappointed. Although seating is limited and it tends to get warm inside, I often opt for takeout. I must admit, I sometimes regret discovering this place, as it's hard to resist the temptation to stop by too frequently! read more

I love Mariachi's Tacos! The staff are very kind and caring. They always make sure you're happy and satisfied with your meal. The restaurant has a great atmosphere with beautiful decor. The food is spectacular! The tacos are so flavourful and the portion sizes are perfect. This is a great place to hang out and enjoy real Mexican cuisine. Very good tacos! Seasoned steak was very good! Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was because the waitresses were understaffed and needed help with how busy it was so there was a bit of a wait time. Overall great service with the understanding that sometimes it's busy and you just have to sit back and relax. read more
