The food at this Taqueria Los Comales always hits the spot for me! The complimentary chips and pickled veggies are great. They even give salsa and lime for your food as well. I always get the carne asada tacos/burrito, and they always come out so tasty. You have to pair it with a nice cup of horchata as well! The service is always amazing when I go - they always check on us and take our order super quick. The ambiance is very nice and clean inside; I prefer this location because there's parking and a lot of seating inside the restaurant. read more

Unfortunately, the experience wasn't what it used to be. The food was disappointing, for starters. While it came out piping hot and impressively quickly, it was extremely bland! My grilled chicken burrito was the blandest burrito I've ever eaten. The protein needed more grilled flavor, and the quality of the sour cream and cheese shreds was poor. Both tasted noticeably sour, so either the quality started poor, and/or it was exacerbated by the containers being open and exposed too long. The tamales my husband ordered were dry and lacked flavor. For the quesadillas, you can get corn or flour tortillas. The one food highlight was the breaded chicken within my daughter's torta. That had a nice crunch to it. Service was fine. There's a lot of disposable materials used when dining in here: styrofoam plates and forks for the complementary chips and salsa, paper cups and straws for the drinks, and styrofoam to go containers. Would like to see them (go back to?) reusable utensils and cups, especially for diners eating in. Last note: the menu says to ask server for the full bar menu, but this is outdated. Just beer (bottles/cans) available. Overall, just not a quality meal for the $80 spent. read more

Taqueria Los Comales has been one of our favorite spots for over a decade, and we'll continue to be loyal customers. If you can, pay in cash to save on the credit card fees. I always order for pick-up, and they have never once gotten an order wrong. They always include plenty of salsa, pickled jalapeños, and limes. They never skimp on the sides, which I truly appreciate because that's getting harder to find these days. Service is always quick and friendly. We love their tortas, tacos, burritos, cebollitas, and their horchata. If you're dining in, I definitely recommend enjoying your meal with a cold Corona, plus you get chips and salsa at the table. There's nothing better than genuine Mexican tacos and an ice-cold beer. We drive all the way from the north suburbs just for the tacos here. Totally worth it every time. read more

My man and I decided to grab dinner here Friday night. The location was nice and had its own parking lot which made things easier, not to mention it was nice and spacious inside. We picked a table and our waitress asked if we wanted anything to drink so we ordered two large Jamaicas because I noticed they don't serve water when you first sit down so that was a negative for me. I ordered the lengua taco dinner and my man got 6 Al pastor tacos. The portion was nice and came with rice, beans and a side salad. My husband and I have been here several times and have generally been pretty satisfied with the food and service. Unfortunately, our most recent visit didn't live up to our past experiences. We ordered six tacos--carne asada, chorizo, and lengua--but none of them were up to par this time. The chorizo was overly oily, the carne asada was a bit dry, and the lengua just wasn't appetizing. Also worth mentioning--the menus were noticeably dirty, which took away from the overall dining experience. LC is just one of those go-to places for tacos for me. I really enjoy their steak and especially their Al Pastor tacos. Their Al Pastor doesn't come with chopped bits of pineapple and it's still delicious without. My only gripe is how tiny their tacos are. Probably 3 bites and you're done. But, they use quality and fresh tortillas which makes every bite feel like a fluffy pillow in between your teeth. The flavors are on 10 and I just keep coming back for more overpriced tiny tacos. We usually go to the Los comales in the city, and we like it. Just so happened we're in Niles, so we decided to come here for dinner. We go the Al pastor tortas dinner, and 3 tacos (cecina, el pastor, birria) The food just didn't taste the same , the meat was really greasy, the Al pastor was really dry like you're eating crumbs, burnt ends. The only one that's good is Prbly the Cecina taco. The tortas was okay. Service wasn't bad, but the food just wasn't on par to other Los comales. read more

I ate at the restaurant for the first time and it's a very chill location with lots of space. This time, I ordered the tripas (crispy), cecina taco, and camaron taco. I didn't realize how small they are, so they're a bit pricey for $2.50. But it's ok to me. Taste-wise, I did like the tripas tacos. They were a bit too fried and completely crispy, but they tasted fine. The cecina taco was ok too, not great, not bad, but just average. It didn't really have much flavor, so I added the hot sauces and the complimentary salsa to give it a kick. The shrimp taco surprised me! It was pretty filled and pieces of shrimp were falling out as I bit into it. The shrimp was seasoned and was covered with shredded cabbage and an aioli sauce. I thought it was the most worth it out of all the tacos I ordered. As for the atmosphere and staff. All staff were wearing masks and were very friendly. I liked that they came around just enough times to check on me and my friend, but also gave a lot of space where we could sit and talk. The environment gave me more like a whole-in-the-wall vibe, so it was nothing fancy. The tables and seating were decently clean. I would go back with friends to eat here because it's so close. My parents live very close by. Decided to stop here after a very brief visit after not eating here in many many years. I started of with the the chips and salsa as always when you visit a Mexican restaurant. What i enjoy about this place is the spicy picked vegetables they have at each table. These are great additions to chips and your meal. I ordered the chicken burrito. Let me tell you, they do not skimp on the chicken. They load it up! The taste was great. Not like other burritos where they add rice. This one includes chicken, beans, cheese, lettuce tomatoes, sour cream and avocados. The size was decent as I was only able to finish half of it. Dining in was not too busy. But the kitchen was working non stop with carry out orders. I mean customers were coming in to pick up what appeared to be every other minute. I was craving Mexican and ordered Los Comales for lunch delivery not expecting much but was pleasantly surprised and impressed. I ordered a steak burrito with rice and beans, marinated chicken quesadilla, chips & salsa, and an horchata. First, everything was packaged with care and consideration. They included ample napkins, utensils, and hot sauces. Bonus points, they even included Mexican giardiniera! Next, the food was fresh, tasted great and was perfectly seasoned. Ever since they relocated, the service has gone down hill. The menu has gotten smaller. The inside servers are usually pretty kind. The drive through staff is awful. They rush you and have no customer service. The girl with the glasses is beyond rude. If she hates her job so much, she should just quit. If I had written a review prior to Covid I probably would've been inclined to rate Los Comales 3 stars but we have been getting some really good food and service consistently during the pandemic. I have tried other places but I think Los Comales tastes the best all around and the prices are reasonable. Our usual order is the taco dinner entree with steak and pork, steak burrito, guac, salsa and chips and a large horchata. No one else makes horchata like they do! It's milky and just the right amount of cinnamon. I also like how they add the pickled veggies that go so well with the tacos and burritos. Also I'm not sure if the recipe changed for their rice but it has been so flavorful! Whatever they are doing they need to keep it up because I don't want mexican food from anywhere else! Tip: Order ahead online. I would give it about 30 minutes before orders are ready. Also, you have to get their chips and salsa. The salsa has a good kick and flavorful! read more

I've came here once before maybe 4-5 years ago. Remember this place being the hyped placed to go to for Mexican cuisine. Remember only getting the burritos here. I came here today and ordered 1 order of Carne Asada plate to share with my girlfriend. I'm very happy with the server splitting the meal into two plates when I told her we were just sharing 1 meal. The meal was terrible. Carne Asada was thinner than paper. The marinade was definitely not good, or none the less only marinated for a short amount of time. The rice definitely changed the last time I was here. I don't think it was worth $21 for this meal. Very disappointed when comparing this to Uncle Julio's $30 Carne Asada plate.
