Came here to have a little brunch with my family. It's in a small shopping center so parking can be a bit difficult if you come at a busy time. We entered and was greeted by friendly faces. I tried their salmon toast and the kids tried their sweet crepe. All very yummy. My husband got something with bacon and eggs on top of hash browns and that was equally delicious. I think this place is better suited to come with a friend or two. Not a huge area for sitting so if you're looking for a place for a large group, you might want to try a different place. Saying that, its such a cute place to meet up with a friend or two or even a casual date. :) I havent tried their coffee, but a lit of people were order them. I just love the blend of urban chic and cozy comfort which creates a warm and welcoming environment. The use of emerald green and gold for the decor adds a touch of down-to-earth vibes. They have an extensive menu with great options for food like toasts, bagels, banh mis, sandwiches, crepes just to name some; for drinks, coffee, lattes, tea, boba and specialty drinks. I was trying to find a sensible meeting area for someone in Escondido, where I can meet them coming from Oceanside and I chose the Urban Sweet Café in San Marcos. The Urban Sweet Café is a small coffee shop located in an urban development area of San Marcos. The small shopping Plaza that surrounds it also has a few hidden gems. This Café has a very distinctively cute interior that comes across as a more organic, down-to-earth and healthy ambiance, as opposed to modern / industrialized corporate appeal. Although the interior is very cute, it is also very small & feels a little cramped when it gets crowded & boy, does this place get crowded during rush-hour times. However, I do like that you have a choice of seating along high chairs inside, a small couch in the corner, or outside on high tables. Please keep in mind that this is a café that you pay at the counter and then return to pick up your order. Their menu is very straightforward and simple and primarily focuses on a variety of sandwiches and avocado toasts. I liked the simplicity, because I know I can always customize my order to add variation to my flavors. I also liked that they had a seasonal menu with a few other choice specials. Because they were only 2 service workers, who appeared to be very young, our service was very friendly & attentive while we were present at the counter. However, when it gets busy, these two servers are so busy that they cannot attend to any other tasks, such as wiping the tables down or cleaning up after others. I observed this & wiped down my own table before seating. Overall, this is a nice place for a solid avocado toast and a decent coffee or a latte and is good for a cute date or small get together; avoid if group seating is required. I wish there was a feature on here to directly contact the owner instead of leaving a negative review. We came by today June 22nd around 12:00PM and waited for a while at the register and were not even greeted nor told we'd be helped shortly. After placing my order (with tip included) I kinda regretted even coming here. I tipped on my order even when I didn't want to for crappy service. My sister placed her order and was going to pay with cash she was then told no cash. I paid for her order and accidently tipped the highest amount and asked if I could re do my transaction as it was an accident. I assume it bothered the very bitter looking barista. The owner of this establishment should look better into who is being hired. The barista didn't even bother calling out my name when my drink was done (and yes she was calling other names on drinks out) I only knew it was mine after asking as I did not just want to grab a drink I was unsure was mine. The cashier was not very welcoming at all. Adding I was able to request the transaction of a refund for the tip and hoping to get my $6 back for crappy service. We did not enjoy the drinks made the only thing we enjoyed was the food. We ended up tossing away the drinks. Only positive was the cook who politely called our names once food was ready. A tip to the owner You should not have a barista with a negative attitude, energy and aura making drinks for your customers who can happily support other local cafes in the area with better customer service. Your cashier should also not be coming into work in faded sweats and a tank top looking freshly rolled out of bed. To avoid any conflict I did not ask for a full refund but truly would have gladly asked for one for the experience and the bad tasting drinks. read more

The first constructive criticism I have is that they NEED to get a separate section for pick up orders versus the line for people who are ordering in store right now. I came in around 9:50am and two people for UberEats or another pick-up service cut in front of me to ask for their pick up orders. I wasn't helped until 10:10 am, 20 minutes later.. I considered leaving and going to a different coffee shop. My positive feedback is that they made my coffee very fast, and it was good. I looked at other people plates and noticed the same thing. The lady sitting at the table next to me had crepes but I saw a green leaf leftover stuck to the corner of her wooden plate -- maybe spinach left over from the customer before her? Not sure. They have indoor and outdoor seating, I sat indoors. It was a hot day and their AC was working great. There was probably about 3 other customers when I arrived, and my order took some time to be ready. I ordered their lox toast and thought it was good. However, the lox tasted really cold, as if it had just gotten out of the freezer. I also ordered the she-fitish and didn't like it, but I think others might , the flavors just weren't for me. When I asked why, the staff said all their dishes were dirty despite the fact that there weren't many customers. My boyfriend got Doordash... Unfortunately my matcha tastes like straight milk. They definitely did not use enough matcha. This was the only item I ordered so looks like my $8 matcha sucks. I wasn't able to catch all the lovely baristas names before they ended their shifts except for Kimani. Kimani is an absolute beam of sunshine! Her upbeat energy is contagious and her fun spirit is just such a delight to be around; she immediately makes you feel welcome and is a wiz at recommending flavor/drink/food combinations! The entire Tuesday crew is made up of angels who are friendly and extremely attentive to guests (humans + the furry ones) and their caffeinated and conversational needs.
