Mother of Bride, dress needed to be hemmed in top of shoulder (I am petite). When pinned at fitting it was how I wanted it to be, when i returned it was like nothing was done. Explained it is still too big. Was defensive, argumentative and unrelatedly had really bad breath!!! When I was trying to look at her to speak my concerns, she abruptly grabbed by shoulder and turned me around. She did this a few times. I asked her to please stop pushing me, she was hurting my back. When I came out of changing room, I asked her to update the receipt with the new pickup date and what needed to be done, she was arguing "I don't know why you are making such a big deal, i fix the dress, you can pick it up tomorrow. I said you know what, I am just going to go, she wanted her 4 pins back and said you are not paying so she wanted to keep the receipt. I never said i would not pay, I was going to pay and speak to the owner afterwards. Awful awful, awful!!

Long post but the gist of it is DO NOT TRUST Nancy Sinoway with your wedding dress alterations. I…read morewill post all pictures for proof. -She never used a measuring tape to make sure things were equal, BE CAUTIOUS OF THIS -Charged me $1200 for alterations, her 'bustle' she made me was made of other wedding scraps that was 2 strings to tie together under the dress -She cut my sleeves at different lengths, sewed them on at different parts of the dress and SEWED ONE ON UPSIDE DOWN AND DENIED IT. One sleeve was cut about 4 inches shorter than the other and at different thicknesses of the sleeves. -She pushed me out the door with the dress all bagged up before letting me try it on a final time, and that is my fault I should've pushed to try it on again -Never steamed the hem after she hemmed it so was curled up -Created receipts that I had NEVER been shown before after I told her she sewed a sleeve on upside down -Used every excuse in the book to send me a minimum refund for 'just the sleeves' and then called me shameful for asking my money back. The gentleman who answered the phone was straightforward and helpful. He quoted me the price right away and walked me through exactly how the same-day pickup would work, so I felt confident going in. Once I arrived, the experience was seamless. They had me try the jeans on, asked how I wanted them hemmed, and even offered different heel heights so I could see how the length would look depending on my shoes. Since I was wearing flats that day, I went barefoot and stood on a pedestal while they pinned everything to my exact preference - it felt really personalized and thorough. His response was to tell me not to come back. I thought I had misheard him but he repeated himself and said "don't come back we have enough business." Based on the empty, sad look of their store and other yelp reviews I doubt that but incase you're looking for a new seamstress you might want to looks somewhere else because apparently they already have enough customers. To all my fellow brides, please do your research first before settling on a tailor. Irene and her assistant are friendly when things are going well. But it felt like they did not really take the time to make your dress perfect. They don't want to hear any issues and it does feel awkward to bring up any issues because the appointments are very rushed. For bridal fittings, please find a place who will take their time with you. I actually had to get my dress taken in an extra inch because it was still too loose. I had 3 fittings total and had to basically ask for the 3rd one since they tried to only give me 2. The first fitting was only 15 minutes long, which was crazy because I've heard first bridal fittings can sometimes take up to an hour. I gave 2 stars because the tailoring job was okay. However if you decide to still use Irene for her services, do not feel rushed or pressured for your appointments. Take your time to examine your dress.

I didn't need any rush on the job either. Complete and utter rip off. This is the 8th bridesmaid dress I've gotten altered. I know what's fair pricing - this is far from it. Mario Tailor in Huntington village on Greene Street does an incredible job very quickly and is actually reasonably priced. Mario's closes at 4pm during the week which is the only reason i didn't go there this time and I am sorely regretting it. Never again. You've been warned.
