Maria's Brunch has that cozy neighborhood cafe vibe that makes you want to linger over one more cup of coffee. *AMBIANCE* I went on a weekday for brunch around 10am where there was no wait. I was also excited that they moved to a bigger, brighter space. There's ample parking in the back or street parking which are refreshing changes compared to the old location. *FOOD* The menu has something for everyone, from classic breakfast staples to more creative brunch options. Come hungry -- the portions are generous and everything tasted fresh and made to order. I highly recommend trying their seasonal tiramisu latte (I seriously would order this everyday if I could) and their Tex-Fast Bowl which was decadently delicious. The drink was creamy with a hint of sweetness and definitely lived up to its name. If you're not a brunch lover, they also have other options like burgers, wraps, house specialties, quesadillas, and much much more! *SERVICE* Staff was friendly and welcoming, though the pace could use some improvement which I'm sure they'll figure out over time as they just recently set up in this space. Overall, Maria's Brunch is a great spot in Metuchen that's definitely worth visiting!
We got the chicken pesto sandwich on ciabatta bread and the tiramisu french toast. We went on a weekday, so there was no wait. It seems like you can join a waitlist on Google, so I would double check it before going! They serve everything from breakfast to lunch items. There was plenty of seating as well.
This restaurant tends to get crowded for brunch so try to make reservations if possible. There are so many different things to try so I would suggest sharing with your group. The Spanish and brunch crossovers are one of a kind. If I were to suggest one dish, it would be the French toast. It was one of the best I've had. There is a parking lot but if it gets full, street parking is available.
We tried their new, bigger, space midweek, on a Wednesday at about 10AM, so it wasn't busy. We were seated immediately and within a few minutes placed our order; the waitress was helpful and seemed to know the menu well. When our food arrived, the first thing I noticed was that it was beautiful. The avocado toast was just spectacular (see photos) and the cappucino had a cool design in the foam. The second thing I noticed was that my egg white omelette was bright yellow. Um, really? So the waitress returned it to the kitchen, and brought back my toast to eat while I waited for the new omelette. Really???? I watched as my breakfast partner enjoyed her avocado toast, and as my toast got cold. After my partner had finished her breakfast, my omelette arrived, and I had to request fresh toast. My omelette their "Best Green" was mediocre at best. My partner's avocado toast was good. The coffees were OK. If the waitress had been decent, and had some common sense, I *may* have rated 4 stars. But my experience was 1) mediocre food, 2) less than adequate server, and 3) outrageously expensive breakfast. Will I try Maria's Brunch again? Maybe, just maybe.
Yes! Yes! YES! Highly recommend! The pancakes were literally the best I've ever had! They taste like they're made with cornmeal, and WOW! The Great Breakfast came with everything: eggs, bacon, potatoes, and pancakes. The prices were so reasonable, too. Our waiter, Dayvion, provided great service and had some really good suggestions. I'll definitely be back...probably this week just to get a short stack!
I went to the new location on Central Ave. it is a bigger space than Durham, but I'm not quite sure the staff can handle it yet. No water refills, waiting a super long time for the waiter to come around so we could ask for the check so I had to go to the front to ask someone. The food was okay. Big portions, but nothing we ordered was special. Wish the chicken and waffle used dark meat. Avocado eggsplosion was also just ok. My lavender haze iced matcha drink was probably the best thing. I would probably come back to try some other dishes. Some people around us had a giant dish with chorizo and things that looked good, so I may have to try that.
First time trying this place with a group of 8 and it was really solid. Service was good and we never felt rushed. Really nice variety huge menu. The French toast was absolutely delicious and the tiramisu latte was also great. The burrito mex was ok but it absolutely fell apart and was really hard to eat, I'd try something else as my main next time. Would come back for sure though definitely worth the price
Came here on an early monday morning and was seated right away. I previously came to this place twice where there was a 90 min wait time so I left. Im glad I got to experience the great food. I was a party of 3 and we ordered OJ, coffee, and a hot chocolate. All generic, in a packet but that was ok. We then ordered the big breakfast, mexi churro waffles, and the grilled cheese special. Everything was delicious although the tomato soup wasnt a favorite. I would defiantly come back l. Make sure you come EARLY to beat the rush. I came at 8am.
This is the best brunch I have had in north Jersey...and it isn't even close. Been here several times and have yet to be disappointed. The place is tight so utilize the call ahead seating for smaller parties and reservations for larger ones.
I've reviewed Maria's before and I'm returning to race avoid the Avocroissant dish. Every now and then I come across a dish that I'll be thinking about for some time, this was one of those dishes for me. Everything was super fresh! The croissant was super soft and topped with avocado, cheese, eggs, and bacon. The pesto on the side was amazing. I paired my dish with home fries and a sugar cookie latte. The location is small so there's always a wait (understandably). We were pleasantly surprised when our 45 minute wait time was only about 20. The service was super friendly and efficient. I hope to be able to catch these seasonal offerings again soon!

Ambiance: Came to this cute Brunch spot on a Sunday morning with a group of 4. We made a reservation becuase it get's packed - parking lot is tight and has limited spaces, but luckily we were able to find spots. Food: We had the waffle mix, cheese quesadilla, mozarella sticks, avocado toast, and cold/hot coffees. The food was decent and our group liked it. Service: From being seated to the end of our brunch, our server was super helpful and professional.
Came here on a Friday morning with the Mystery man for breakfast. First let me start off by saying it was packed lol! I already knew it was going to be good just based on there being no parking spaces left in the lot! We walked in after parking on the street. There was a tiny table in the middle left & we were fortunate enough to be seated immediately. Service was fantastic. Our waiter was wonderful & very attentive & answered any questions we had. I enjoyed my huevos rancheros & iced Strawberry matcha latte. My darling husband, opted for a chicken, egg, waffle sandwich which was right up his alley. He enjoyed along with his iced churro latte. The food was incredible & we would certainly come back. It was a nice little cafe ambiance. There was decent seating throughout but imagine it would be very busy on the weekends but they do a great job moving very quickly so I don't think the wait is too long. You get 1.5 hours at a table per the sign at the front. It makes sense. It was very good! Highly recommend!

Went to brunch at Maria's today (Saturday) for the first time. We arrived at 11:45am and was seated immediately. The food arrived relatively quickly and the portions were huge! -The Strawberry CheeseCake Pancake is absolutely delicious! The pancakes are stuffed with delicious cream cheese and topped with whipped cream and strawberry syrup. Highly recommend. - The Cinnamon French Toast was my least favorite but my mom and partner really enjoyed it. For me, it was too tangy and I didn't enjoy the texture. -The Tex-Mex Style Bowl (with waffle fries, eggs with chorizo, guacamole and salsa) was very tasty. We shared these three dishes and still had enough to take home. Our server was very nice and the price point stellar with everything coming up under $40. When we left (around 1pm), there were people waiting to be seated. Not sure timing-wise what is best as I am sure weekends are pretty busy overall but thought I would mention it. We're definitely planning to revisit when our friends and family are in town. read more

This place was cute and small. Being that it was so small, it was very loud. We could hear a lot of the other conversations and so it was not the calmest brunch. For drinks we got the caramel latte which was overly sweet. We also got the iced coffee which had 1 free refill with it. ( I tho that was nice) it was just a simple iced coffee with no sugar or additional flavors. I got the special which was a skillet style. It had potatoes, beans, and chicken (sub. Chicken for the chorizo). Topped with 2 eggs done your way and 3 corn tortillas and side of verde salsa. It was decent. The chicken was grilled and did not have any flavoring on it. The potatoes/ beans mix was really oily and no real flavoring. I had to ask for the salsa verde because the waitress forgot to bring it the first time. The dish looks nice but could do for flavoring. The chicken & waffles were decent. Nothing extra special about this place, just another brunch spot! read more

Great spot for fresh and simple brunch food! They have a wide variety of menu options and the portion sizes are very generous. My only complaint is that the restaurant is very compact. They get extremely busy on the weekends and it is sometimes difficult to hear conversation inside. I would recommend calling ahead to be added to the waitlist if you don't already have a reservation! read more
Maria's: a diner that also just happens to be Latin American. You can get pancakes or a reuben, but you can also get quesadillas, fajitas, breakfast burrito. If you're willing to cross over. Which I was. So when I saw they had a chorizo special I went for it, and my goodness, what a meal! Look at my photo - all this meat, so much food to behold for a single meal. Nice fresh avocado, nothing crummy on top. Cooked nice and thoroughly to a spicy crisp but not overcooked. It took us a little while to get seated but I can tell you that's a good thing - this place is well loved and could use an expansion for the demand it's generating. With cause. This place is worth the demand. Whatever genre of food you seek in the Americas, find it here and enjoy your meal. Signed, a happy foodie. read more

Great meal today at Maria's Brunch! I saw the family on News12NJ a few weeks ago and saved it Yelp as a place to visit. It's really cute and airy with plenty of off street parking. I stopped eating meat a month ago and found plenty of options. I went with the veggie quesadilla and was craving fries so ordered a side. Quesadilla came with salsa and quac. It was loaded with grilled veggies - zucchini, onions, peppers, and eggplant. I think it said 3 Mexican cheeses. It was heft and I could only eat half. Fries were hot and crispy but not greasy at all. Hubby had the breakfast burger which came with a fried egg on top of the burger and was huge! Fries came with his meal. He really enjoyed his meal and you can see the burger was cooked medium as requested. read more

This past weekend was my birthday so I decided to grab some brunch with my partner. I was in the mood for my favorite - steak and eggs. But alas, I've only managed to have good steak and eggs from one diner that I visited so far. I'm proud to say that this number has now gone up to 2. From the get-go, we were greeted with such a pleasant atmosphere and kind staff. In the process of getting to Maria's, we managed to get stuck in traffic but they were very accommodating and we still managed to get a table as soon as we entered. Our waitress was lovely and had such a great energy about her. She made some nice small talk with us as my partner and I made our final decisions with what we were getting. First off, the ferrero rocher mocha latte was phenomenal. I'm always a fan of trying specialty coffees that diners or coffee shops have to offer, by no means did Maria's disappoint. Sometimes when I've had mocha coffees, there isn't harmony between the chocolate and the coffee flavor. It feels like I'm tasting one and then the other. But this latte had such a pleasant blend of the different flavors and it was incredibly smooth. On top of that, there were chopped nuts in there that added a very pleasant texture. This is among one of the best coffees that I've had in the past few years. Then came the food. I feel that home fries are often a hit or a miss, but Maria's did them perfectly. They perfectly captured a crispy exterior while maintaining soft and fluffy insides. As for the steak, it was seasoned perfectly and I had no trouble getting through it. I finished my food so fast in fact that I was wondering if I should order again . The onion rings and mushroom caps were also a nice addition to give you a variety of flavors throughout the experience. I love when you can mix and mash different flavors within a single meal. It was nice to have a little bit of steak, a bit of home fries, back to the steak, and then a mushroom cap, and so on. It definitely contributed to the fact that I nearly done in 5 minutes. Maria's is definitely a place worth visiting in Central NJ. Perhaps, my new preferred brunch recommendation. There's a reason that it has retained a perfect 5 stars up to this point! read more

This is an amazing place to go for breakfast and/or brunch! The menu has so many delicious options: pancakes, french toasts, breakfast classics or Latin dishes. I arrived at 12 pm today (a Sunday) and was luckily to be seated immediately. This place is very popular, and reservations are only for parties of 4 or more, so it's definitely best to get there early! I tried the el pastor tacos which were served with black beans and rice. I was surprised at how large the tacos were and wasn't sure I'd be able to finish them, but I surprised myself! I loved the subtle pineapple flavor of the el pastor tacos and the beans and rice were simply divine! The tacos were served with a verde sauce that had a nice amount of kick. To drink, I tried the creme brulee latte and it was wonderful! I love this cute spot and hope to come back again soon. read more

I love coming here. The food is always so fresh and has amazing flavor!! I love how creative they are with the different dishes they offer. It was my first time trying the brisket quesadilla they had, and it was so yummy. I also had a mocha latte, it had very great flavor and the espresso was delicious! read more

The food was very yummy. Will be coming back, they had a wide variety on the menu and made it a tough choice with everything looking and sounding so good. The Valentines Day specials looked especially yumalicious and I will have to come back soon. The workers were very nice, but did seem slightly sad that we didn't ask for boxes at the end, but it was not a reflection of how we felt on our food. Met with a group of friends who hadn't seen each other in about to two years. We weren't all there at the start of reservation time, yet those who were were seated right away. The spot is cozy, buzzing, and the food always hits! After we placed our orders, our server was patient and accommodating, returning to the table often to make sure we had everything we wanted. I ordered the veggie bomb and a Belgian waffle. The veggie and egg dish was piping hot and delicious.I thought I'd be able to finish it, but only got through half and took the rest home. read more

After reading the reviews and seeing one of my favorite bloggers go here, I've been wanting to give this place a try. I'm always on the lookout for good breakfast. We were immediately seated after checking in. The restaurant is small, about the size of a one-story house. The atmosphere is very homey, with plants set out here and there. Wreaths and potted plants hang from the leftmost wall while hanging plants are placed by the back windows. The walls are a cheerful shade of lime green, with one of the walls being made of white brick. Most of the seats are wooden movable booths, while regular tables sit in the middle and near the front. Daughter ordered the Lox Avocado Toast, which is avocado toast plus smoked salmon on multigrain toast topped with two eggs and served with fresh fruit. She ordered her eggs over easy. Omg, daughter loved it. She loved anything with avocado in it and also thought the fruit was nice and fresh. She'd said that she'd never seen it look so fresh and pretty because other places weren't fresh looking. Hubs ordered the Al Pastor Tacos, which is soft corn tortillas filled with their special pastor pork and pineapple pieces topped with fresh cilantro and onion. It is served with rice, beans and salsa verde. He liked it and thought it wasn't the best. He was happy to see eclectic items on the menu. Lastly, I ordered the MixBerries Cake, which are pancakes filled with fresh blueberries and topped with fresh strawberries and raspberries and whipped cream. I loved it and thought it was nice and fluffy. I also thought the fruit were fresh. Service was friendly and quick. Will definitely return when in the area to try other items on the menu. read more

We were on our way driving through Edison and came across this gem!! The food was absolutely AMAZING!!! we got the Boston Creme French Toast, Chorizo Breakfast bowl, Oreo pancakes, and Cinnamon French Toast!!! Everything was so flavorful!!! The staff was very friendly and inviting, and the atmosphere was cozy and reminded you of home!!! We will DEFINITELY be back to try out everything on the menu, which is so reasonably priced!!! My wife and I visited Marie's Brunch. All the seats were occupied. But it wasn't cramped. The wait staff moved freely about the restaurant. The decor is simple and appropriate. The atmosphere is calming and pleasant. Today, I had a French toast sandwich. It is French toast with ham, mozzarella cheese, and two fried eggs with two hash browns. Yes, the hash browns are something I could have from McDonald's or ShopRite. I'm not complaining. I know others might. The prices are reasonable. Oh. I would recommend reservations. My wife and I waited twenty minutes before being seated. I think it is worth the wait. We are coming back. read more
