The only reason I finally got to try Bocca Osteria was because my friend and I randomly popped in and managed to grab two spots at the bar (which is full service, thankfully). The atmosphere inside feels very chic, posh, and effortlessly upscale in the best way. Everyone dining there looked like they belonged in a Nancy Meyers movie lol. My wife and I visited Bocca Osteria Romana this past Friday and had a mixed experience. We sat at the bar and really enjoyed the meatballs and bread, great flavor and a solid start to the night. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. After ordering our pasta, we waited about 45 minutes with no food. A couple sitting next to us who arrived about 15 minutes after we did ended up receiving their meals before us, around the 55-minute mark. At that point, we decided to ask the bartender to cancel our entrees and just bring the check for our drinks and appetizer. The manager came over and asked us to stay, but we declined. He did insist on having our food prepared to go, which we accepted, and mentioned it would take another 5 minutes. It left us feeling like either the order was never rung in or the ticket was lost in the kitchen. We understand it was a Friday night, but the restaurant didn't appear overly busy, and an hour wait for pasta is simply not acceptable. My wife and I both work in the food industry, so we're not quick to complain, but this was disappointing. As parents of three kids, we don't get many opportunities to go out together, so we really value those moments when we do. Sadly, this experience didn't live up to expectations. On a positive note, we ended up grabbing food down the street at Arvizu's taqueria pop-up, where the service was incredible. Truly one of Ft Worth's hidden gems. Findong Boca was a challenge. Located in the middle of what looked like an alley. It reminded us of our favorite Pizza hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Rome. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is fitting for the area. What is going to bring us back is the FOOD! We shared the salad of the day and seafood spaghetti dish, focaccia flat bread and olive oil with a sprinkling of red pepper flakes. The red sauce was so good that I cleaned my plate. We were a walk in and although we were sat after 20min I absolutely do not recommend doing that. This restaurant is way smaller than I expected and in the winter months too cold to sit outside. This place is a hidden gem in every sense of the phrase. Tucked down a softly lit alleyway, it honestly felt like I was shopping for something at Hogwarts just trying to find it. When we arrived, the place was absolutely packed--and this was a Thursday night. I've rarely seen a restaurant filled to the gills on a Thursday, but we quickly learned why. The hostess let us know there was no indoor seating available, but she could seat us on the patio. We were starving, didn't hesitate for a second, and said yes--cold night or not. Hunger always wins. She was very polite, walked us through the setup, and made us feel welcome right away. Julian--who I believe is the owner or general manager--came over personally to apologize for seating us outside. He had heaters moved closer to our table to make sure we were comfortable. That extra effort went a long way and really set the tone for the night. Above and beyond customer service. Our waiter was just as welcoming and attentive. I asked him what his favorite dish on the menu was, and without hesitation he said the lasagna. Funny enough, the hostess had mentioned it too. After ordering drinks, the entire table went all-in on the lasagna--and I can confidently say we made the right call. They brought out bread first--crispy on the outside, warm and soft on the inside, perfectly paired with oil and garlic. A simple touch, but an excellent preview of what was coming. Then the lasagnas arrived... and wow. These were massive, almost reminiscent of a shepherd's pie. There was a flaky, golden crust on top with cheese and garlic crisped to perfection. Turns out that flaky layer was actually the pasta itself, used as a topping--genius. It came out piping hot, and after the first bite I'm not exaggerating when I say this was the best lasagna I've ever had in my life. It wasn't overly cheesy, the sauce wasn't runny or overly thick--everything was perfectly balanced. Every bite was followed by a genuine moment of "holy shit, this is incredible." And here's the kicker: I'm not even a big lasagna fan. It's not my first, second, or even third choice at an Italian restaurant--but I'm so glad I listened. This felt like a five-star dining experience. If I lived closer, this would be a biweekly stop without question. I can only imagine how good the rest of the menu is, and every time I'm back in Fort Worth, this place will be on my must-visit list. 10 out of 10 across the board--food, service, atmosphere, and hospitality. Boyfriend and I went here for an early Valentine's Day dinner. We had been in the area to try another restaurant and when we walked past this one the smell was amazing, so we added it to our list for date night. Service was friendly and attentive, but not overbearing. The restaurant is pretty small, so I would definitely recommend making a reservation to ensure you get a table. We were definitely pleased with the food. The focaccia bread is a little more spongy than we are used to but was very tasty. The sauce with the meatballs is super yummy, although the texture was a little different. I definitely enjoyed the richness of the ravioli special of the day which was served in a brown butter sauce, and my boyfriend got the lasagna which he said was fantastic although the fact that the top layer is without sauce and is a giant baked noodle was a little odd, and he said the outer edges were slightly bitter. Whether it's date night (sit at the bar for a duo) or a group dinner with friends or family, it's always a crowd-pleaser. The food is consistently incredible--rich, flavorful, and generously portioned. Pro tip: come with a group and order a variety so you can sample as much as possible. I will say, the carbonara is wildly salty... but somehow that doesn't stop me from demolishing it every time. So good. Side note, we haven't sat on the patio-- not that we're against it, but we are waiting for the temps to drop this fall before we give it a whirl. We've had the same waiter a few times--he works hard, and we truly appreciate the hustle. That said, the visible sweat beads do make me a little nervous (just being real). Really wanted to love this place but my expectations were too high. This place didn't hit the mark and we were here for a birthday celebration. 3 stars is more than fair. First off, ambiance is great - love that it's in a little alleyway, the patio was nice which was where we were seated. The problem with that was the table they had reserved for us was outside and it was cold with no heaters until we asked. It was almost like they weren't prepared for us. The manager did serve us which was a very nice touch but service was slow. Water glasses were empty most of the time. We didn't have clean napkins especially after they took our small plates and told us to hang on to our utensils which was awkward because we didn't have have anywhere to place them and felt like something you do at a cheap buffet. This place is not cheap. Most wine glasses are about $20. We were recommended a few that didn't match what we were looking for. After we put in our orders and the appetizer came out, the manager said the focaccia was on the house which tasted amazing. That was excellent. We also got the meatballs which were fine but nothing special and not worth the $18 price tag. My friend said that the table next to us that got the meatballs had 3 extremely big ones whereas ours were small. $4.50 for a tiny meatball is outrageous - we had 4. For entrees, we ordered the lasagna, carbonara, and a couple of other dishes I can't remember the name of. The lasagna was good - a little different than what you would typically expect lasagna to taste like. The rest of the other pasta dishes were ok - again, nothing special. We ordered the tiramisu, 2 came out and one had a candle on it which was nice. Dessert was ok. Check comes out and we're charged for the focaccia that was supposed to be on the house via the manager and there's absolutely nothing they did for a birthday besides a candle. Bocca Osteria Romana is truly a hidden gem - hidden in a small alleyway off Main Street called The Squeeze - around the corner from Emporium Pies. There were so many things on the menu we'd want to try. For our first visit, we chose the focaccia bread to start with, and I chose the lasagne while hubby chose their "famous" Amatriciana (they have an established location in Puerto Rico). Every single thing we ordered was incredible. I didn't think I'd like the Amatriciana, but hubby gave me some and I forgot I had a whole plate of lasagne waiting on me. Their menu is well rounded, and I can't wait to go back to try the Carbonara or the Osso Bucco. I cannot recommend Bocca highly enough. The food, service, and ambiance are all top-notch. I've visited 3 times and it only gets harder to choose what I want every time, since I'm stuck between wanting what I got last time and wanting to try something new. We've started with the Focaccia and Ricotta antipasti and have loved both. Cocktail-wise, I just ordered the Boricua Old-Fashioned (swaps out the whiskey for rum) and it served as a perfect "meanwhile" drink while we enjoyed our antipasti. The Lasagna Al forno has been my wife's go-to dish. I've ordered the Bistecca and Brasato, which were both amazing, especially paired with wine recommendations from servers. To cap the night off, we end with the tiramisu; decadent, sweet, creamy, etc. Nowhere else in Fort Worth have I had such carefully crafted, well-presented, delicious Italian food.
