I love Maria's. They have the best chicken vegetable soup when you're feeling under the weather. They are also known for the chicken flautas. It's a simple little place in a small strip mall in Pedro. The place is clean and there is a few parking spots outside, but it's a lil treacherous in that parking lot. The staff is always nice and helpful. And they do deliver locally, which is awesome. I'll keep that in mind for next time I'm sick and need that soup! We got a large order the other day and had burritos and tacos and tacos plates, and been and cheese, and one of their specialty plates. Everyone loved their food. No frills but consistent. At Maria's I tried the French Toast combo breakfast (no extra charge for ordering breakfast after 11 am, unlike Monarca's, which adds $2.00 for this honor). Maria's menudo tripe hominy soup with added oregano, cilantro, onions, three slices of squeezed limes, and a cup of steaming freshly made (as with everything else) salsa verde green sauce is a thick stew that makes for a fine meal with corn tortillas hot off the griddle. Benjie my friend had fish and chips with a small extra charge for salad, too, but he was very happy with the generous avocado pieces. And he always loves his fish and fries, including today. I always didn't balk at Maria's competitively South Bay prices for Mexican food because I know they apply precepts of the Slow Food Movement with their quality recipes and ingredients, especially with the slow cooked beans which to me are like red Mexican caviar or pate, (not kidding) and the care with which these foods are prepared farm to table. So I know in LA where my mind's time warp might be stuck in the early 2000's I would think, "A good burrito can set you back 8$" and then at Maria's it's with tax 17$ perhaps. But it tastes so good. And it's so fulfilling. The portions are generous for breakfast, lunch or dinner specials. If you want to bulk up on protein a meal here is the way to go. If you figure that for an adult it will be, for non fast food, 15$ to 20$ a meal, you won't leave hungry. A different reviewer was telling the story that he got into a car accident and the people of this restaurant helped him by giving him food and telling him to wait for help inside their store. So that is also all kinds of awesome. I've been going to Maria's for about five years and the food and service just gets better with time. My first time here, and I really enjoyed it! My friend lives locally, and has been suggesting this place, and I'm so glad we went! Sweet, patient service with a lovely woman named Sylvia, who really took the time to help out the older guests in our party, so they could decide on just the right meal. All the meals we ordered were fabulous! And the green salsa, which is served warm, was unbelievable! I wish I had brought some home. Large portions, fresh, delicious. I will be back! Omg. I had Chile verde dinner, hubby had chicken enchiladas for dinner. Rice was good, beans on the dry side, lunch combo for dinner includes soda. Chile verde was the authentic very moist and simmered in its sauce, a little on the thick side but it was okay. Hubby's chicken enchiladas were very generous servings the red sauce on it was a different flavor I never had but it was really tasty and the green on the other enchilada was the very sauce. Meatball soup o hell yea!!!! The waitress took my order that's the bowl of chips with delicious homemade salsa. While I waited for my food to come I looked around the restaurant it was clean it smelled good they were people smiling customers are coming in and out leaving with smiles on their face. The soup came and it was delicious fresh ingredients and the broth tasted like something my grandma made when I was a little kid. Everything smelled authentic everything tasted authentic and I felt like if I was at home. I couldn't believe that this delicious soup was a side order. I added some of the homemade salsa which was delicious and spicy and I cleared my sinuses in a good way. If this soup with this good I couldn't wait to have the main course. The tortillas were delicious the meat was seasoned everything was warm. Little pinch of cilantro a little pinch of onions and I was in heaven this meal was delicious I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. I look forward to bringing my family here. I've had good experiences coming here but the experience I had this morning left me with a better Taste of my mouth This experience is based solely on customer service not the food which is still good As I was driving home this morning after picking up some menudo that I placed an order for pickup I'm thinking of my head wow did I really just pay $18 for One Bowl one serving of menudo I know prices are going up everywhere but damn so when I got home I took out the bag and there's a receipt attached to it the original one when the order was finished and it said 16$ I took out the receipt from my purchase that I used my credit card with and it said $17 which on top of it I left a two-dollar tip making it $20 for my menudo as I was hungover I didn't really care at the moment that I was eating it but a dollar is a dollar if the original price that I was quoted over the phone was $14 and then with tax it comes out to 16 that's what I expect to pay not a dollar more or less that's why I leave a tip In the future cuz I will give them another chance I will bring this up and I will be more careful at looking at both receipts when I'm picking up my order maybe it was a mistake read more

Had lunch there today for business, and the staff was nice enough. Nice enough to skim my credit card and then buy $278 worth of online groceries from a Ralph's in Compton. I don't ever let my card out of my possession, except for this one time. It's been so long since I've eaten inside a restaurant that I just used the receipt tray without thinking. I went today for brunch. Let me tell you this place needs a full inspection in the kitchen. There were flies in the eating area. The girl in the front told us to sit back their cuz it was fresher. We got chips and salsa which was not good. Salsa had no taste. I ordered a green smoothie when I got it and looked at it there was a fly on it! Then, my pozole was not even hot. It had lots of greease on the sides I had to take out. The meat looked ugly had black striped on it and fat. My bf ordered the eggs with chorizo he liked them. But, I had to send my plate back they had to reheat it. They know they have a fly problem because of the water bag they hung above the tables and a fly trap outside the door.
