Me and my sister had an amazing meal at Maria's a week ago in Santa Fe. We had never been there before and were not disappointed. I had the cheese enchiladas with green chili on the side. It came with refried beans, rice, and sopapillas. And they serve chips and salsa without it costing extra . The meal was delicious. Probably the best Mexican food I've ever had in Santa Fe. The service was great! Unfortunately, I can't remember our server's name, but she was awesome. The ambiance is very quaint and there's easy access to good parking in their parking lot. It's not on the plaza which makes it convenient.. On my next visit to Santa Fe I will definitely be going to Maria's. I need to also add they have a huge margarita menu. Lots to choose from. After more than 30 years of coming here, I'm done. The decline in service over the past few years is unacceptable. My family and I have been treated with disregard and disrespect, and it's clear that locals are no longer valued. This place prioritizes tourists and their money while giving consistently poor, dismissive service to longtime customers. That is not just disappointing--it's unacceptable. I will not be returning, and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. If you're visiting Santa Fe, take your business somewhere that actually values its customers. I've been coming here for over 20 years but today's experience was just meh compared to those. I'd say the food was the best part, though my chile rellanos were "cool" not as warm as usual. Our wait person was disinterested, and did not ask us "do you want another drink" "did you enjoy your meal" "can I get you another drink" "can I get you anything else", she just did not make eye contact did not connect on a personal basis. Also our favorite drink the La Patrona was less than expected, it was so tart and less alcohol than usual, could not finish drinking it, and usually is a very smooth and premium drink (usually we order 2). Also the window was open and there was a cold draft. So hope this is not a trend, but we were unimpressed, and will be going elsewhere next time. read more

Wonderful dinner excellent service margaritas were strong and delicious complementary chips and salsa spicy salsa, which I loved love the queso and we split the shrimp fajitas and they were delicious. I have been ordering the chile rellenos at Maria's for 30 years. No longer. My local SF friends all stopped going to Maria's--new owner and new chef. Now I know why. They were pre-breaded, pre-fab concoctions--major slide in quality. And that's not all: the house margaritas--once the best and strongest in town--now use a lime mix, not fresh lime, and not enough tequila. (Also, in a restaurant that is very nearly empty, why seat us next to a huge Cambro filled with dirty cleaning water?? Why the change? The bartender at our hotel told us (after the fact) that the owner had recently lost an enormous lawsuit AND lost the liquor license for the restaurant. As a result of the latter, most of the staff left since they weren't making as much money. I hate to say this about a place that was good and that may be just trying to do the best it can during a very challenging time. But. Totally meh. read more

Besides good food, they have a menu with 150 margaritas. Mainly it is by tequila brand but all are a little different. Our servers were a regular who was training a newbie. He is training her well because great service. Big nice space. We had fun talking to other patrons. We had a couple of margs and appetizers like the crispy tacos. I've been to this restaurant twice now. I feel bad, because I recommended this place to my commander. So I feel bad because we gout our chips and salsa. They looked a little different, darker. Found out why, they were over cooked. Yuck. One of the people with us ordered tacos. The tacos were over cooked. I'm guessing the cook didnt really want to be there. I had the taco salad. First I asked for whole beans as usually that is what is something a plant based person can eat. Well, they cook whole beans with bacon. So no on that, the refried beans are made with lard so that screwed that up for me. The gucamole was tasteless and the taco shell was too well done. I was not happy. If you are even vegetarian, you cannot eat the taco salad. Why should I go to a mexican restaurant (supposedly one of the best in town) and have a salad? I will NOT come here again. Drinks now are watered-down--literally; and, they're putting some sweetener in and not the quality liquor. The pretty-much all-new wait staff was running around like they didn't know what to do. This review is painful for me to write. I've been eating at Maria's for nearly 50 years. When i started eating there the whole restaurant was the bar area. What is now paper dosa was a car repair place. The food was generally excellent. It was always consistent. A wonderfiul constant for Maria's was the staff. Manny was a long time bartender. He was the 'young guy, but had been there at least twenty years last year. He stuck through with the business's ups and down's. Covid, etc., along with other very long term staff. I had been concerned about Maria's based on what I read on various apps. I decided to go this afternoon. All of the long term staff is gone. Manny? He was 'let go'. WTF? All the staff was new. Not sure what happened. It took 10 minutes to get my drink at the bar. The chips were pieces and the salsa was jarred. I had already ordered a marg so waited for that. It was a weak sugary mess. We attended their 75th anniversary party yesterday and had an excellent time! The food as always is delicious and the service was amazing especially considering how busy they were with a packed house for the celebration. We have been coming since the mid 1980's and the decor and ambiance remind us of our great times there over those many years. Bravo to the whole staff for making yesterday an amazing experience. Hopefully Maria's will have many more years! Almost forgot to say how delicious the celebration special $7.50 margaritas were. Food is great, the service is to, but the two reason I rarely go here anymore is because I usually went there waiting to pick my sister, number 2 is one time I was sick I was REALLY craving that green chili stew so I put the order for my stew, my mom got a few things to eat also (it was for dinner) . After we got and went home, I was hungry and my throat hurt and I thought the stew would probably reduce pain a bit? We got the bag and I was looking for my stew.
