I was too hungry to take a picture, but honestly this place is not even worth it. I'm surprised this place has good ratings because this place was not it. I got the sabor tecleño and the pupusa was just dripping in oil from the inside, could be the cheese, but they were not the best. The pastelito filling was not good, no flavor whatsoever. The only good thing on the plate was the tamal frito and the platanos frito. Oh also the horchata was good so I'll give them that. Also service is slow, they weren't even busy and it took them a while to bring out the drinks and food and on top I had to wait for the waiter to bring out utensils. Definitely not a place I would come back there's better places out there. read more

Every pupusa I've tried from here has been incredible. Shout out to Jalapeño and cheese, and ofc Revuelta. Their curtido is fantastic as well. Ask for the coconut horchata, it's crazy good. Sometimes it can be a solid wait, but well worth it if you don't have somewhere to be. read more

I love this spot! It's one of the best Salvadorean places I've been to. I am Peruvian but love pupusas and soup! I've tried every single version of their pupusas and they are so fresh and tasty! I would recommend placing your order early if you're picking it up, everything is fresh so it isn't fast food. Every single time I have gone, the server is on his toes, really great attitude and very helpful. If you choose to dine inside it can get crowded. Called my order in ahead of time. On the phone they said the order would be ready in 15 minutes. They lost the order, so they only started making it when I got there and they tracked down the sheet of paper where the order was written down. I showed up 10 minutes after the call, and it then took them another 35 minutes, so they both lost the phone order and their time estimate was way off. Probably related, the employees seemed more interested in watching the soccer game on the TV around the corner and stopping to chat with their friends. The prices are good. This has been our go to place for some time now, I'm just finally taking the time to give them a review. We normally place a phone order and bring it home, this place is a little too loud for us. Today I ordered pupusas revueltas (chicharrón and cheese) combo. It's 3 pupusas with a side of rice and beans. The pupusas have the perfect amount of masa and cheese. The beans and rice are so much better if you mix them together, the rice is a little bland. My husband had the same combo but his pupusas were with harina de arroz. Great food and service. They are currently offering to go or outside dining. They blocked off a section in front with about 8 tables distanced away from each I ordered 2 papusas, bean and cheese. They were delicious. Not greasy, the beans have great flavor and the salsa was very good. Curtido needed a little oregano, but that is just my taste. My husband ordered soap de frijoles. I like to come to this place when I want comfort food. Like home made food. When I want some good soup or when you sick and you need to orden a good soup this is the place that's you need to think about it. Either meat or chicken soup highly recommend. This place looks very modest both outside and inside but wow does the food quality deliver. A Salvadorian friend of mine told me about this place. The Sopa de Pata had an amazing amount of flavor. My experience has always been to-go with plenty of notice. I know pupusas take awhile and a lot of grill space, so it's best to get your order in if it is a large order and suggest a pick up time. I always call in a hour or more ahead of time, tell them the name of the person, the type of pupusas they want, and come pick up time, it's always labeled properly and easy to pass out to my co-workers. They also always give bag of the cabbage slaw and hot sauce for each order as well to make things easy for everyone. I found out about this place from my brother friend who works at Genetech. They said they always take people here when they are from out of town, which I thought was a bit odd. I mean I live close by, it's in a strip mall, and let's be honest, isn't as nice as some of the restaurants you would find in downtown area. I can easily overlook that though if the food is good. Great staff and good pupusas. If that's what your looking for, come to Maria's. Don't go in excepting fast service if you got a large pupsas order since it takes a lot of space on the flat top. I'm so full! I ordered for 7 people and it was only 90 bucks! The portions for the plates are generous and the pupusas are perfect, light and fluffy maza, cheesy inside. I tried the revueltos and the chicken and cheese and they were both fantastic. Ordered the sabor salvadoreno ( If you like fried things, this is your plate). pasteles empeñadas. If you don't like mushy things you might not like this. Sticky sweet firm outside, soft custard like center. I was definitely a fan. And the most important part: Customer service, is 10 stars. All of the girls have ranted about this place in the office after being new to this location and where to eat for lunch. So I tried them out to see what the buzz was all about..... can't say I was blown away or that they were right on the money. Dont get me wrong the service is great and food is alright but def not the best and I;ve had better papusas from different restaurants. What I may have to do is try the other dishes out to see if maybe they are known or something else ight be better in taste. In my opinion, it's a bit on the plain jane side, I need more flavor and rich taste with my food. But def nice for a quick bit to eat lunch or grab food with great prices. You know it's good if Salvadoran's eat here. I tried the pork and cheese papusa which complimented nicely with the slaw and sauce that it comes with. The Salvadoran Tamale had a well seasoned masa but there was barely any meat. The customer service was great. I've been coming here off and on for over ten years. I love Salvadorian food and there is something laid back and inviting about this place that keeps me coming back. It's not fancy, just a taqueria style environment with table service and good prices. Yes, the food is great! Almost does not matter what you order, they cook it to perfection and give you plenty of food, so you won't leave hungry. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. The service is great, too. You can eat inside again, although I did notice the round tables in the front patio area in case you wish to go that route. What a nice, friendly, family-run restaurant! At Maria's, you'll find Salvadorian & Mexican dishes on the menu, but to cut to the chase, the pupusas are the thing worth coming for! These thick, griddled corn cakes were stuffed with a choice of filling (I got queso con loroco, an edible flower), and served with salsa roja (a thin tomato soup) and curtido (a cabbage and onion slaw). The gooey layer of cheese added a nice unctuousness to the pupusa, which was pleasantly thick, chewy, and soft! Another great thing about Maria's is that they offer a number of combo plates, so you can try lots of different things at once. I got my pupusa on the Sabor Tecleño plate, which also came with fried plantains, a pastelito, a tamal frito, and an empanada. What was all of this deep-fried goodness, you ask? The pastelito was made of an orange-colored corn dough containing a filling of sautéed beef and vegetables. The tamal was a fried dough made of coarse corn meal, and unlike other tamales I've had, this tasted and felt just like cornbread! And finally, the empanada was made of a mashed banana dough stuffed with a sweet, light, milky cream. All of the components of the plate were delicious and went nicely with the sour cream I got on the side for dipping! In addition to this plate of "Antojos" (literally meaning "cravings"), I also tried the Bisteak Encebollado, a plate of thin steak grilled with onions and served with salad, rice, and super creamy beans! This dish was plated surprisingly beautifully with its many colorful components, and it was served with two thick corn tortillas on the side. We ordered 2 pupusas (queso con lorroco and chicharrón con queso) wasn't impress honestly. The queso they use is to tuff and chewy. I like my pupusas gooey when I tear them apart or cut through them. These were not, plus the cheese was too greasy that my chicharron con queso separated from my tortilla. My husband ordered the carne guisada. Now i gotta give them props for that one. It was delicious and good portion of food. We ordered horchata they were okay i was expecting it to be made with water not milk. We ordered the sampler of antojitos salvadoreños and well the empanada was too deep fried that the plátano was tough and the filling was too thick and over cooked. (Nothing special) The yuca con chicharrón was good also, crispy! The pastel was okay the flavors weren't really there but i was glad to see that it had enough filling and ingredients were showing not just mush. Service is a bit slow so prepare to wait. Filling is meaty and cheesy but not greasy, and the combo comes with rice and beans. Let me tell you something about this rice. This is some of the best Hispanic rice I've ever had.
