I call on a Thursday trying to get an appointment for the next week, she squeezes me in on Sunday afternoon. For me, there are two things that define a good facial. 1) Thorough extractions with no scarring, and 2) the therapist doesn't leave the room for extended periods of time while you steam or have a mask. The first time I went in, Anna probably spent 30-40 minutes doing extractions after a thorough steam. Plus, she massaged my hands and shoulders while I was steaming or letting my mask dry. My face looked great. I have since been back for another facial and a microdermabrasion. The microderm did not cut my skin, and was glowing for days afterwards. If you missed the groupon, there's a pretty good chance she'll let you come in for your first appointment at the groupon price. The facility: is essentially in an office building, so don't expect a full spa with locker room and tea. If you want a lazy spa, spoilation day, this isn't your spot. If what you really want is your skin to be taken care of, then come see Anna. She can be a talker, so if you want silence during your treatment, make sure to let her know ahead of time.

I didn't hear back from her until late January, at which time she had sent a BCCed email to what may have been numerous people rambling on and on about some sob story of hiring an intern who was not capable of checking spam mail. Not that I care why you aren't competent enough to check email, but I felt her offer of a "free trial" was compelling enough to give her a second chance. After swapping a few messages back and forth (during which time Adriana told me she was only available for trials on Tuesdays and Sundays), we decided upon a date of Sunday the 19th at 10:00 AM. I confirmed and provided my address. Once the day of my trial arrived I anxiously awaited Adriana's arrival; unfortunately, she never showed. After about 10 minutes of waiting, still hoping that maybe she was on her way, I sent a simple email asking if she had been running behind and if she could provide an ETA. NO RESPONSE. After waiting 30 minutes, I called and left a voicemail. NO RESPONSE. Still to today, I've never heard from Adriana. Genuinely, I expected a "OH MY GOSH! I am so sorry, something came up....I completely forgot...my calendar crashed." Some sort of excuse or something. Instead it was simple no call, no show for a potential client. To me, this is the most disgusting and disrespectful act of any "business woman." It really makes me think that the majority of reviews here (look at the filtered ones and always be leery of those "all 5 stars" from Yelpers with no picture and minimal reviews!) are fabricated or done by friends or acquaintances. It truly is a shame, as I sincerely was willing to give her my business had she just shown up and performed a job well done. Who knows, maybe in another three months I'll receive another mass BCCed email about this 'intern' who forgot to put the appointment on her calendar and an offer for a free trial??? UPDATE 2/24/11: I received an email from Adriana the day after I wrote my original review, with a long story about illness and offering to still do the trial for free. In my mind, I was done and no longer interested in employing Adriana's service with a resonating feeling that if something would happen on one of the biggest days of my life, she may not show--so naturally I did not respond to her email. I do not think after the interactions we've had, that feeling is out of line. However, after not responding, two days later I get another email from Adriana after she read my Yelp review. In a nutshell, she wasn't happy and asked me to remove my review as it didn't reflect any services she provided. To the contrary, I think it's incredibly relative to anyone who may be CONSIDERING her services. I politely declined, told her I would not be removing the review all together, and furthermore wished her all the best with both her personal health and business moving forward. The emails didn't stop there though, I received a near immediate response begging me to remove the review as it would impact her family financially. Her last line of the email stated she would stop bothering me, but hoped I would reconsider (IE, requiring no response). At this point, I'd intended to come back whenever I had a moment to adjust the review (again, exactly what you see above) to reflect the most recent developments, that indeed, she did eventually follow back up. Less than 24 hours later, not even giving me time to update the review, the response from Adriana is posted below. I mean, seriously? I'm starting to get the feeling the crazy train is powering full steam ahead here. Perhaps she didn't realize posting a reply like that is completely public for everyone to scrutinize? I'm not sure, but either way it doesn't exactly paint her business and the response in the best light. There are a million better ways she could have handled this situation, this would way would definitely not rank in the top 10, or even top 20. Yelpers alike can agree that good, bad, ugly...every interaction with a business can be posted to Yelp. That's the true beauty behind the site; it helps consumers make educated spending decisions based on others experiences. While others had a great experience, I wasn't so fortunate and it's all accurately accounted for here--no 'purposeful sabotage.' Make your own judgment call!

First, the environment was not very welcoming or friendly, I felt entirely out of place. Didn't feel like I was greeted warmly, very impersonal. Jamie didn't engage in any small talk/pleasantries. The minimal conversation with me was forced. Didn't even call me by my name when she came from the back to get me when it was time for my appointment. Somewhat pretentious environment. Felt out of place and uncomfortable. As to the services, I was super proud of myself, It had been four or five months since I had last had my eyebrows done, so I had a lot to work with (or so I thought). I showed Jamie pictures from her Instagram page of how I wanted my eyebrows. She didn't really seem too enthusiastic to want to give me a nice arch and/or make my eyebrows pretty. Instead, she asked me if I ever had my eyebrows waxed. I was extremely offended by that question, I am 52 years old, of course I have had my eyebrows waxed before. In fact, not only have I had my eyebrows waxed before, I have had them tweezed, threaded, trimmed, tinted, laminated, the whole nine yards. I have used every eyebrow growth serum known to man. I felt like I was pegged as this "dowdy," "matronly" person who for my entire life either never had my eyebrows done, or if I did, that it was at Walmart for the $5.00 bargain basement eyebrow threading special. When I said I wanted my eyebrows to be nicely arched Jamie again didn't seem too enthusiastic and said that she will "clean them up" and put a little henna on them. Okay great, clean them up, fine, of course, but cleaning up and arching are too different things. Anyone can "clean up" eyebrows, I don't need to go to a salon to remove the stray hairs underneath the body of the eyebrows themselves, I can do that at home, it's the arching that is what is the important part. Also discussed lamination. I have had lamination once or twice before and I think they left it on too long because my eyebrows were brittle. Jamie has pictures of "buttery" laminated eyebrows on her Instagram page. I asked her about lamination/her thoughts if I could get the pretty laminated brows like the pics on her Instagram page and she really didn't respond or further discuss this with me. Again, I felt like I was pegged as this dowdy, matronly person who wasn't worthy of having pretty eyebrows, that anything would be good enough for me. So after twenty minutes and $60.00 later, (not to mention the $15.00 cash tip), my eyebrows Iook no different than when I walked in there, actually they look worse. The hairs underneath the body of the eyebrows were removed, and henna was thrown on there, and that was about it. No sculpting, barely any clipping, I have eyebrow hairs on top/within the body of the eyebrows that are sticking straight up they are so long, they weren't even touched, no brushing up of these eyebrows, no trimming. Likewise, there was no brushing down/trimming of the super long eyebrow hairs on the bottom eyebrow area, there are some eyebrow hairs that are almost an inch long that should have been groomed/trimmed. Also the same is true for the extreme ends/tail areas of my eyebrows. No trimming/no removal of extremely long hairs at the extreme ends/tail area. Eyebrow hairs that should have been removed weren't, eyebrow hairs that shouldn't have been removed were removed. Basically waxed off the outgrowth underneath the body of the brow, threw some henna on, and good enough. In retrospect, I should have just gone to Walmart for the $5.00 special, I would have $55.00 more in my pocket. Not a good experience at all. Even if I was asked to come back in for Jamie to spruce them up on a "gratis" basis I would decline. Very disappointed, to say the least. On a scale of one to ten, ten being excellent, the best ever, one being the worst experience, two through nine being in the middle, this experience is definitely a solid one.

It had been a minute since my last waxing service, but I did not think much of it. The aesthetician began waxing me and while doing so, a few remarks indicating that people with Groupons make her work so much harder and all of that jazz were made. She began my wax and everything seemed to be going fine. I knew it was going to be a tad bit painful, but nothing out of the ordinary. The wax was a nice temperature and the process was swift. She did not go back in and tweeze any strays or anything. Fast forward to me getting home: I noticed that I had a lot of skin missing down there which turned into scabs a day later. I have never had that happen to me ever. I am not too pleased and I won't be returning. I am also experiencing breakouts which hurt and are unsightly. I had NEVER experienced anything such as this with any wax I've gotten and I didn't have any issues before this.
