This review is for my interaction with Toni at the Dublin Benjamin Moore paint store. We were midway through painting the exterior of our house with Benjamin Moore's Duxbury Grey with Simply White trim, when I went in seeking advice for colors for the covered deck on the back of our house. After looking at photos, Toni explained which colors she thought we should use where and why. After speaking with several other color consultants, Teri was the first one who had a clear color philosophy. Lightbulbs went off as she explained her thoughts on what would look and feel best in our space. I walked out of the store feeling 100% confident in the direction we chose. Thanks to Toni for the consultation for our kitchen cabinet redo - it looks amazing! We worked with Toni via MB Jessee Painting. We were at a loss of what to do with a complicated countertop and an unusual green backsplash. She was so incredibly easy to work with - friendly, patient... We did a remote walk-through instead of in-person, and she able to direct me so that she could get a sense of what was going on in the room. She walked us through her thought process - why she was recommending A versus B. I was surprised that she picked colors remotely but when we got the samples it was clear that she was correct. We have contracted with Toni for several color consultations over the past five years for interior rooms and our home exterior. We are very pleased with the results. Toni stays up to date with what is trending from the top paint manufactures in color, textures, and finishes. From accent colors to coordinating color flow from room to room she was an excellent resource. She also integrated our current art works into the new color scheme. Our most recent consultation was for lighting ideas for a library, office and master bedroom. Toni has helped me with several decorating projects over the years. Most recently, I had been mulling over the idea of getting some window coverings for my living room & bedroom. My living room has two windows w/ custom cornice boards on either side of the fireplace. I told Toni that because we live in the suburbs, I wanted something opaque for privacy, yet something that would still allow light to come through. She worked with me tirelessly to achieve this look. Also, my bedroom windows needed some "oomph". I love the Eastern Accent draperies that Toni helped me choose. I have never tired of them. But the bedroom windows needed "something more." So after Toni pulled out her HD samples (and both of us on the floor of her office!), she helped me decide on which product would be best. We chose Applause by Hunter Douglas. They were installed within 2-3 weeks and I LOVE them! Toni went out of her way, above & beyond to achieve the look that I wanted. Toni's service is unparalleled. Every time I had a question, she had an answer at the ready. Very timely & efficient. She will go the extra mile to ensure that you are completely satisfied with the end result. Things started out great. Toni came to our home twice in Nov. and helped us select paint colors. (Which we are very happy with). We spent over 6 hrs. with Toni. She comped 1 hr. due to being late to the initial appointment, which she didn't have to do, and we appreciated the gesture. We signed her Letter of Agreement for hourly services (since she said she didn't think we'd need her enough hours to choose the retainer option). We paid her in full before she left after each appointment, as she requested. During those 6 hrs., we also talked about the scope of the project. We had some construction going on for a room addition, and we gave her the timeline of when painters were scheduled, carpet installation timeline, etc. She said she is available to come back and look at carpet samples and help with selection. She also said she's available to come back to help with furniture selection and placement, picture placement, pillows, window coverings, etc. - basically help tie everything together based on new paint color and carpet. We paid her for every moment of her time as we discussed her vision for the project, strategy, etc. We were excited to have found who we believed to be a professional interior designer that understood what we wanted and could help us with our project. We relied on her expressed availability. This is where the big disappointment comes in. We contacted Toni mid-Jan. to coordinate a time for her to come and look at carpet samples since the paint project was finishing. She replied and simply said she is sorry to say she is booked solid until March due to several large "retained" projects and is unable to serve us, and added that she wasn't sure we would want to wait that long for her. I emailed back essentially expressing our disappointment and confusion since we were relying on her following through as discussed. We asked if she could at least come help with carpet selection. We reiterated that, while we understand she's busy with new and bigger projects, that she's leaving us hanging mid-project. Well, it's been over a week, and she still hasn't responded. (Normally she responds right away). SUMMARY: Can't help feeling - especially due to her lack of response - she doesn't really care. She now has bigger, more lucrative projects than the scope of ours. What prompted me to write this review is that, from our perspective, it doesn't matter how "busy" someone is - as a professional in any service industry, it is possible to find the time to follow through. In addition, the lack of response to us as a paying client expressing confusion and disappointment, shows a complete lack of care. My husband and I have several businesses, and we feel it's important to treat people well and communicate and work with people when challenges arise, as they often do - whether in a business relationship or otherwise. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. I hope this review is helpful to others considering Toni's services. read more
