First time trying this place after searching for a quick bite for breakfast. There are many corporate breakfast options in the area, but these smaller, hole-in-the-wall mom and pop spots are always worth trying over any of those. And I am so very glad I did. I was able to quickly order my food, pay a reasonable price, and enjoy a delicious breakfast sandwich. I got the egg and cheese on the French baguette and it was perfect. AMAZING!!! Our office is at the Bloc and today I was craving for a good 'ol everything BLT bagel or maybe a banh mi. I couldn't decide to get Uber eats or just see what's around. I decided to yelp this place and just went for it because they have sandwiches. To my surprise, their menu is extensive! Right off the bat, I had to order my craving of good 'ol bagel BLTA. Saw they also had the banh mi so I can't pass that up. Phil was very nice and the service was quick! In and out, and got my goods in less than 10mins. The food is just BOMB. Sorry didn't get to snap any pictures because I was so hungry. The veggies in the BLTA were fresh. The bagel was chewy and at the right temperature. They did not skim on the ingredients. It was a VERY good bagel sandwich. The banh mi was LEGIT! I'm from the Bay Area and haven't had a good banh mi in awhile. I got the pork belly banh mi. The ingredients were full, the pork belly was so tasty, the veggies were pickled perfect and the bread was toasted with that right crunch with the perfectly soft inside. I can go on and on.... I don't know why it's taken me so long to write a review about this Marie's Coffee, because I've been coming here consistently for the last three years. This is truly a hidden gem in DTLA and it's a perfect snapshot of a genuine family business that never skips a beat in terms of quality and efficiency. The owners, Marie and Phil, know me by name and everything about my life. They know my coworkers' orders by heart, and ask about all of us even when we're not there in person to pick up an order. I've had pretty much everything on the menu from breakfast, to smoothies, to lunch. Standouts are all of their breakfast bagels, but most including the veggie bagel breakfast, all of their salads (my favorite being the arugula or chicken salad, and all sandwiches are solid. But I will say without a doubt that their Banh Mi's are some of the best that I've had in LA, and they offer them with chicken or pork. They are simple and stuffed to the brim with flavor, and the bread is the perfect texture between soft and flakey. Phil and Marie being Vietnamese bring true authenticity to this classic, and man oh man... both versions are absolute fire!!
