Four tacos, one mission - steak, chicken, carnitas, shrimp... executed left to right with zero hesitation. Finger-licking good. #BUENO

If you're heading into L.A. Live for a game or event, Sol Agave has kind of become one of those "default starting line" spots for me... and honestly, it's been a bit of a rollercoaster relationship over the years. First off, the space itself is legit. Big, open, modern Mexican vibe with high ceilings, warm lighting, and a mix of rustic wood + polished finishes. There's a long bar that feels like it's always ready for pre-game action, TVs scattered throughout (CLUTCH for keeping an eye on sports), and some nice design touches, think agave-themed accents, textured walls, and a slightly upscale lounge feel without being stuffy. It looks like a place where you want to post up, grab a marg, and ease into the night. Now... here's where things got a little sideways. We rolled in at 5:30 before a Los Angeles Kings game, and were told we couldn't sit until our full party arrived. Mind you... the place was maybe half full at best. That's a tough one. You're basically telling a ready-to-spend group they can't order drinks yet. That's an easy extra round (or two) left on the table. #ANNOYING That said... once we got past the front door situation, the night rebounded nicely. Shoutout to server, 'Zagid C' and the rest of the staff, they were on point. Attentive, friendly, and kept things moving, which is key when you've got a game clock looming. Big difference-maker. They even brought out a fun little birthday firework moment at the table, nice touch. Happy B-Day, Dan. Food-wise, it delivered. My wife is OBSESSED with the warm beans that come with the complimentary chips, like, borderline fighting-over-the-last-scoop status. YUM. I'm a creature of habit here and went with the 4-street taco combo (steak, chicken, carnitas, shrimp). Solid across the board, good flavor, hits the spot every time. Big portion of food. And yes... I absolutely appreciate the TVs. There's something comforting about being able to track pre-game coverage while you're knocking back tacos and a cocktail. Priorities. Net-net: Sol Agave worked its way back into my good graces on this visit. Strong service, good food, great pre-event energy. But that "entire party must be present" seating rule? BOOOOOOOOO.

The place's decor looked a bit more casual than I expected but the food was the best in the Mexican category that I've tasted in LA since moving here in August. The margarita flight had actual fruit garnish (which goes a long way with me). The octopus was perfectly cooked. Even the chips tasted great, with or without the accompanied dips. I'll be back for sure.

It was a Saturday evening... We were about to go to a concert at the Crypto Arena... And Dinner & Drinks were TOP of Mind. So as we were walking from our Hotel towards L.A. Live.... Something. Caught. My. Eye. The Something: SOL-AGAVE taste mexico! My wife and I looked at each other, did the nod of approval and both said, "sounds good to me." Yeah when it comes to Mexican, I'm down for tacos ANY DAY of the week and you know I'm a sucker for a good margarita. Being that it was a Saturday evening in DTLA and it was a concert night at Crypto, you know the surrounding area was packed, but we took a chance and I'm so glad we did! We waked in, said we were a party of two and despite being very busy, we're offered a table right away at one of their bar table tops. Yasssss!!! Hey, closer to the Bartender.... Let's Goooo!!! As we were in a bit of a time crunch: Not only did we have a concert to get to (don't worry, it was only a minute, two tops on foot from Sol Agave) but more importantly, we wanted to get in the Merch lines to get our Sleep Token Swag. So we wasted no time at looking at the menu, so we could decide on our drinks and food so we were ready to order once our server came by. Tacos & a Marg for me Taquitos Al Gusto & a Marg for the Mrs. And we were Happy Campers!!! We weren't super hungry as we had a late lunch, and we knew if we wanted something later, we could get something at the concert, so we ordered everything off of the Botana's section of the menu (appetizers), but the next time I come here.... I am DEFINITELY going BIG and NOT HOME and I'm gonna order from the Big Kid Menu!! (Aka the Chef's Specials section). Service was good. Food was tasty. And the drinks helped the buzz keep goin'. So the next time you have a concert or a Basketball/Hockey Game at the Crypto Arena... Come have yourself a Taste of Mexico at Sol Agave!

Right next to LA Live and JW Marriott. Service was lackluster but the carnitas were tasty! I liked that the beans and rice were served on the side so there was plenty of space on the plate. I was sad they don't serve horchata.

Decided to try this place before heading to the Lakers game. Make sure to book a reservation as it was clearly busy during peak eating hours. The restaurant had a nice energy, definitely Vera Cruz vibes. Service was a bit slow throughout, I know they were busy but we felt a bit ignored and not rounded on. I'm not one to wanna be checked on every second but we definitely could've been checked on more as we were constantly flagging people for assistance. The food was pretty good with the entire meal being having great items and okay items. We personally felt the ceviche and pork belly bites were really good while the pulpo and guacamole was okay. Our drinks had the same feel where the grilled Pima was too but the tamarindo margarita was meh. We actually never got asked if we wanted another drink. All in all it was an okay experience, not terrible not nothing memorable.

A cute Mexican restaurant at LA Live with excellent cocktails and ceviche! It's a bit overpriced on many things but the bar is top notch. We ordered just appetizer portions and drinks and our bill was $150. The ceviche mixto to was great, fresh, a hint of spice, and plenty of seafood. The octopus was on the smaller side but cooked well and not chewy at all. We also got the pork belly bites which had plenty of crisp and lots of yum! The margaritas are so good, especially after an LA Kings victory! Service is good, no one is going out of their way here and they left us alone after we got our food so we ended up not ordering another round because they took too long.

Food was good, but not a ton of gluten free or vegetarian options. Service was so-so. Convenient spot to grab dinner before a show at Crypto.

They served me frozen butter cake, when when I called to let them know about it, I had them hang up on me 10 times as soon as it sounded like I wanted food, when someone finally answered the phone long enough to hear my problem, he said "I'm sorry to hear that, you should go online and leave a review about it". I was a bit shocked at the response. I didn't call them to leave a bad review; I just wanted to swap it out for a warm butter cake. I then asked him if he can just replace the butter cake, he said it's late and they are almost closing, this was 40 mins before closing and half their tables had customers still. As a last ditch effort, I said okay can I have a refund then? And he said no because you took the butter cake. I'm like... it's a to go order, of course I took it... and he hung up, and he kept hanging up on me over and over, he accidentally answered the phone one time and I overheard him telling the staff "don't answer the phone when he calls; he just wants a F** butter cake, I want to go home, just don't answer the phone and if we don't get more orders we can leave early. I am in shock over the whole experience, I feel like employees like this will definitely cause your business to close down. If anyone in management is reading this, record your phone calls. Your business hangs in the balance on the quality of people you choose to hire.

This review has been long overdue. I came here for Super Bowl Sunday this year. That's how long ago it was. But my experience was amazing and I had to leave a review for it. Surprising the place was not crowded. The food was amazing. Steak tacos. shrimp tacos and my first time having a flight of drinks. The restaurant had the game playing all over the restaurant and even turned up the music when kendrick came out the halftime show. I will be back. Great service great drinks and great food

Was craving Ceviche , & it didn't disappoint! Ordered : Shrimp Ceviche & it's 10/10 Guacamole : 4/10 very mid Sugarcane filet : 8/10 (10 if cooked medium like I ordered) Butter cake: 10/10 The sugar cane filet app that has a wonderful taste. The only issues we had was we ordered medium and it was a lil under cooked. Then they remade it for us and was lil too done. But the taste was delicious! Wish it was cooked perfect medium. But service was great, they was nice & would definitely come back !

I'm tempted to move to California permanently just to eat here again. Even the free chips they serve are different and interesting, going with a quite spicy salsa (for a Nee Englander) and refried beans. They kindly warned about the pork in the beans (not an issue for me but I know it would be for some so appreciated the notice). The margarita flight packed a punch and a great variety of flavors. Hard to pick a favorite though the tamarind and cucumber offerings were a nice balance to a spicy meal. The mole, would eat the sauce with a spoon. Lovely chocolate flavor with a hint of complex spices. Portion size enough for two meals. Even the rice was moist and flavorful, not dry. Sat myself at the bar and service was friendly if a little slow, there is a Lakers game in the area today so it is busy.

    Cucumber Cilantro Margarita

I was staying at a hotel in the area on a recent trip to LA and was craving Mexican food. I walked past this place and had to check Yelp to see what people were saying about it and I was immediately intrigued by the tantalizing photos and positive reviews. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a smile and shown to a table inside. It did take a while for the server to come by to take our order, but after that, the service was really great. I ordered the cucumber cilantro margarita and I think it might just be the best margarita I've ever had. I loved the flavour combo - it was so light and refreshing, especially on such a hot day. We weren't too hungry so we had the tacos and the ceviche - both were fantastic and quite filling. I wish I'd been able to try more items on the menu, though. The ceviche was one of the best I've tried, although 1-2 more tortillas would've been perfect. The tacos were filled nicely and I loved that you get to try four different kinds in one order. It was tough to choose which one I liked most as they all tasted great. I also liked that it comes with a couple of sauces but would have preferred if they were separated instead of being in the same container. It wasn't too busy so the noise level was fine for carrying on a conversation. I bet it gets pretty lively when there are events happening at the Crypto arena down the street. Bottom line: if you like Mexican food, give this place a try. Highly recommended.

An evening here feels, at first, like an invitation into something refined--dim lighting, polished interiors, and a menu that promises indulgence. The mole poblano delivered beautifully: rich, layered, and deeply satisfying. The ahi tuna ceviche followed with freshness and elegance, showcasing the kitchen's true capability. However, not every detail carried that same intention. The guacamole lacked depth and seasoning--unexpected for a restaurant at this level. But the most defining part of the experience happens before you even sit down. With valet as the only real parking option (approximately $35), guests are required to wait outside in a crowded, unpredictable environment. During my visit, the atmosphere felt chaotic and, at times, unsafe. What stood out most was the absence of a consistent, visible security presence at the entrance. For a restaurant of this caliber, a dedicated security guard stationed at the entrance should be standard--not optional. Managing the valet flow, maintaining order, and most importantly ensuring guests feel safe and comfortable should be part of the experience. Javier's delivers moments of excellence on the plate--but true luxury is holistic. It's not just what you serve, it's how you protect, welcome, and elevate your guests from the very first step.

I also travel and love to eat wherever I go so for the first 15 years or so after my diagnosis, my food can only be described as cardboard or parakeet food. However, since being gluten intolerant has become extremely prevalent, it is much easier now to find great food and growing up in Venice, California Mexican food was and still is one of my favorite cuisine. I was going to go to an event for Yelp at the Regent where I knew I would find snack type food that would be inedible for me so after partaking in the wonder of Dia de los Muertos, I walked past Bar Ama and was captivated by the cool interior. I wasn't planning on eating much but in keeping with the Halloween Calaveras theme, I sat at the bar and had a wonderful talk with the bartender/server and some fellow diners who are also eating at the bar. Whenever there are specials, I try to order them, and in this case, this was no exception as I started off with my first Pumpkin Margarita - pumpkin, cinnamon, tequila, combier, lime, agave. Nice taste without an overpowering pumpkin flavor. Since I'm a lightweight and cheap date, I had to have some hardy food and I tried their super nachos with shredded chichen picidilia. Calling something super could mean big and/or delicious. This was both. I powered through most of it and then the devious server made me look at their muy especial desserts. That's a lie but while I'm gluten intolerant I'm not glutton intolerant so I gave in to try a dessert presented in the spirit of the holiday- Pistachio Cheesecake Brûlée- kataif, buttermilk créme fraiche, saffron honey cherry blossom salt. I don't even know exactly how you take my favorite dessert in which I am a self proclaimed expert, Creme brûlée (which was the only dessert I could safely eat for years) and pair it with my second favorite, cheesecake. Are you kidding me? Ama tell you this was epic in the presentation that was almost too nice to eat. That's BS I dug right in after taking a few snaps for y'all and so I could salivate looking at the pics later. Delicioso friends. Needless to say I waddled content over to the Regent and ate nothing so as not to break the vibe of the meal. Gracias Bar Ama.
