LOVE THE SANDWICHES HERE! the bread they use is amazingly fresh, it's toasted to its perfection. their two most popular sandwiches are the pastrami (hot) and mortadella (cold). i always get both and it's worth the trip. they're about $10+ each. it comes with little yellow peppers.

We were looking for a lunch spot and originally was going to try Salt N Pepper, but it didn't look that appealing so we came here. The place was cute and had the most patrons. They had a chicken special that day (Tuesday) and the guy convinced me to get it. I ordered a side of fries - total ended up being $20, which was okay. My coworker got the feta wrap. The fries came out first - they were crispy but didn't have a lot of salt. My wrap was flavorful - the chicken was delicious and all the fixings were great. They also had picked radishes and other picked stuff you could add. My coworker loved her feta wrap - said the lavash was excellent. Service was friendly and we enjoyed our meal. Will definitely come back!

Stop searching around for a decent, delicious and authentic sandwich!!! Garo's Deli is definitely the right place to go. Took me a while to find a parking spot in DTLA, not surprised, and finally find this Armenian deli shop located in a small alley in St. Vincent Court. I am super excited!! Walking in the shop, I am truly amazed by how clean and nicely organized of its set-up. There are different kinds of fresh bread, choices of cheese, deli meat and sides that you can build your own sandwiches OR you can go straight from the prepared sandwiches on the menu. All staffs are very friendly and helpful, I am given enough time to ask questions and explore all the goodies. I ordered two hot sandwiches: Chicken Club and Pastrami. Their sandwiches are made to order with fresh ingredients such as tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, provolone cheese and other sandwich dressings. Hot sandwiches are toasted in an oven for around 30-45 seconds with cheese. Before I took the first bite, the cross section view of these sandwiches have already won my heart and every bite is full of different textures and layers of flavors!! The only thing to mention will be the chicken, it's a little dry to my standard and I hope it could be more moist and tender next time. As mentioned earlier, the parking can be a challenge if you are not from local. You can also park in nearby lot with minimal fee and walk here for pick-up. There are about 5-6 indoor seating and 6-7 outdoor seating for small gatherings. Garo's Deli is not only a sandwich shop but also a small market where you can buy varieties of sauces and cheese which is very convenient. This amazing shop is firstly opened in late 2020 during the pandemic. Thank you Garo for serving great quality food and excellent customer service.

Get the hot sandwiches!! They're packed with flavor and the crunch from the baguette is chef's kiss. The bread part of the baguette was carved out so the sandwich wasn't as heavy. I was really able to appreciate the flavors of the filling. I got the iconic pastrami sandwich which they generously filled with meat. If you want something refreshing, I would order this since this one had both lettuce and tomatoes. If you want something different, I'd highly recommend the soujouk sandwich. It has thin slices of spiced sausage that gives the sandwich so much flavor. If you're indecisive like me, I'm making the choice for you. This sandwich is a must-try because it's not something you can get at a typical deli.

It is located at the Historic St. Vincente Court. What a surprise to see many shops in this alley. I love to support small business!! Entrance near the 7th and Hill Street. They have outdoor seating area. Perfect place for a quick bite. The Service: Laura was helping me at the counter. She is so lovely & efficient. Great customer service! I also met with the owner, DiKran, who is such a charming gentleman! His gorgeous smile definitely brightens my day~ If you see him at the store, don't forget to say hi! The Food: I love their sandwiches. They use fresh baguette. They are freshly prepared & made to order. I got them to-go. When I was driving home, the smell of the soujouk sandwich in my car.... OMG!! It made me so hungry~ Love it when they toast the baguette, the bread is a little bit crispy outside & soft inside. Fresh ingredient is the #1 key here!

This Armenian deli is a hidden gem located in St. Vincent Court, downtown LA. They offer pastries, soups, snacks, and sandwiches. If you're not from the local area, parking is a bit difficult, I paid $5 for 15 min parking at the lot close by for a quick dash n go. Otherwise, I would have someone drop you off for a pick up. The sandwiches at Garo's Deli are so delicious. They are nicely toasted and packed with a nice ratio of meat and veggies. The portions are great and the sandwiches are perfectly cut. This was my first time trying Soujouk (Armenian sausage), it was tasty and similar to salami! I recommend if you like to try something different from the usual. The Pastrami sandwich was also really good, I liked the additions of all the veggies and cheese.

You would never guess, that smack dab in the middle of downtown LA, you'd find a little area called St. Vincent Court. Though it's more like an alley, you'll feel yourself transported out of the hustle and bustle of the city, and in a quaint little area with fun architecture and little shops. Among these little shops you'll find Garo's Deli. A lovely sandwich shop that also sells some treats and snacks! They are most popular for the Chicken Garlic subway sandwiches and the Pastrami. When the sandwiches came out, the smell was very good and I was super excited to dig in. The bread was super crunchy! Love how crispy and perfectly toasted the sandwiches were. I shared a pastrami and a chicken sub just so I could try both. The chicken tasted really good, and by the time I got to my second half, I was already a bit full, but because the pastrami was so delicious, I kept eating. Great spot for some delicious sandwiches and some cool views!

[Review #653] 2021 Yelp 100 Challenge (75/100) It's my husband's birthday today & we headed to hidden gem Garo's Deli to celebrate! I mean this figuratively & literally... I had trouble finding the deli shop that's located in the center of DTLA's jewelry district; they're located between main streets: Hill St. & Broadway in the alley on St. Vincent Ct., which houses numerous delis. The security guard by the parking garage nicknamed this "deli alley." With our sitter out of commission, we had the LOs with us on our lunch date. It was best to locate parking closest to the deli & found a garage around the corner off Broadway & 7th St., & it exits right into the alley... yay! On weekends, there's a flat rate ($10 on Saturdays & $8 on Sundays). Yikes! I did notice you could park in the alleyway (if you're lucky) for free, but there's limited spots; I'm going to try my luck next time. We ordered 3 sandwiches: GARLIC MORTADELLA (provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, mustard, mayo) for me, TUNA (lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, mustard) for the birthday man, & TURKEY (provolone, lettuce) for the kiddos to share. Service is fast & friendly, & we got served quick! Mortadella is one of my fav Italian deli meats but I never tried a garlic version. I can taste the garlic without it being overwhelming, & I love their pickles! They're not like the typical dill flavored sandwich pickle, still acidic but on the sweeter side, & complements the saltiness of the mortadella. I noticed their shelves were holding these yummy pickles; I planned to buy a jar or two before leaving, but a quick distraction by my kids & forgot due to momesia. :-| I've had toasted sandwiches before, but their's had an extra crunch factor that I really enjoyed. This is one of the best deli sandwiches I ever had, & I've had plenty! =D My husband really liked his tuna sandwich, & his was also toasted with a crunchy texture. I took a bite (actually I took a few) & we ended switching halves so we can have the best of both! ;-) I kept the kiddos' sandwich on the plainer side, just turkey, cheese, & lettuce since they're not a fan of pickles (what I should have done was added their pickles to my sandwich) & condiments (they can be fickled with mayo but definitely no mustard). My daughter & son loved the crunch French baguette though he couldn't really bite it; I forgot about his loose tooth so I separated the filling to cut the baguette into bite-size pieces (like a crouton) so he could enjoy his deconstructed sandwich. Ahhh... the things I do for these kids. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ After they were done, I went back in to pick-up a couple mini containers of Mediterranean ice cream (chocolate & blackberry) to cool off on this warm day. H & M got inventive after a couple of bites & split-shared so they both enjoyed a chocolate-blackberry ice cream cup. It was pretty good! =D We dined outside & people-watched while we ate. We even enjoyed a rap by the guy who was cruising the streets, stating this is his 'hood. If anyone bothers us, he will take care of them. :-O Not sure exactly what he meant by "take care of" but he was a character. His rap was pretty dope about how kids should be taken care of by their 'rents & they're our future... really positive lyrics. :-) Garo's Deli seems to be a regular hangout for some, & we're down with the family-friendly chill vibes. Prices are moderate, & portions are proportionate, though we may be a bit hungrier than norm (we went on a morning hike) & needed a bit more to be filled, though my kids were technically stuffed on 1/2 a sandwich but made room for ice cream. O_o If we weren't making additional stops, I wanted to get a couple to-go for dinner. I wanted to try Jack's Spicy Soujouk & Basturma Sandwiches, & that Foul by Bowl sounds interesting too but it's only available weekdays. And I have no idea how I missed the Cheese Flat Bread! Next time, definitely next time... because I need to come back for them pickles! Recommended: Garlic Mortadella Sandwich (a must!), Tuna Sandwich, Turkey Sandwich, & if you still have room, try the Sweet Dreams (aka Ashta) Ice Cream.

Came for the armenian coffee! I was even able to bring my doodle in with me. Lovely place and I can't wait to try a sandwich next time! Thank you!

Garo's Deli is located in the St. Vincent Court alley way within the jewelry district of Downtown LA. Garo's is not only a deli shop but a little market as well. I arrived at 2pm and was surprised to see the shop still in "lunch mode" with walk in customers and phone orders. I ordered the Cold Garlic Mortadella ($11.50) & Hot Pastrami ($12) which were provided within reasonable time considering the business. Both sandwiches were made similarly with mayo, mustard, shredded lettuce, tomato, and the same bread; only difference was the meats inside. The garlic mortadella is sliced fresh and I was shocked to see how much they put in the sandwich! You definitely get a fair amount of meat to fill you up. I'm huge on carbs and I loved the bread here which is made fresh every morning. It looks like they carve out some of the inners of the bread to make as much room to stuff their sandwiches! Indoor and outdoor seating available.

Garo's Deli is a long standing amazing Deli/Grocery/Cafe off beaten path down the famous St. Vincent Court Alley among several shops and eateries, but none quite like Garo's. This DTLA favorite has a lot of authentic international influences and cuisine mixed with modern flare. An Armenian owned business with lots of history and charm. Garo's has a pretty solid falafel plate I'm a fan of as well as new menu item Foul by Bowl that sells out daily. The falafel is light, crisp and flavorful though the pita is very distinct, thin and well made and the sauces to accompany it. The description for the falafel on their sight is mixed up with the ingredients for the red lentil soup, but Garo's has tons of options including vegetarian and a growing vegan menu, I'm a fan of. Maybe they'll add an non-dairy cheese sandwich to the mix one day though an avocado w/o is doable as they aim to please your feasting needs. Garo's also has loads of delicious prepackaged eats and sips for purchase such as nuts, pickled veggies, canned goods, savory snacks, desserts and bottle beverages of all types. This cafe deli does a little of it all including a variety of soups, salads, special's and sides. Definitely known for their unique combinations of bread filled or topped wonders (yes they do flat bread) and willingness to accommodate their customers however they can. G.D's has a very fair amount of outdoor and indoor seating overlooking Downtown's St Vincent's international assortments of shops and restaurants. There is an inexpensive parking area close by or two, but also reasonably close to Pershing Square Station and several modes of transit. Taking a turn down this slice of life is a must! Amazing service from start to finish. The staff here is very kind and personable and provide counter as well as table service. They do have rushes of customers, but provide you with quality and quality that will keep you coming back for more!

This place is a hidden GEM! Located in the heart of the Jewlery district. It's located in a really cute between buildings area and they have outdoor seating and relaxing music that really sets a vibe for a deli. There is an $8 parking lot on Olive and 6th street which is a pretty good deal. I tried 2 of their cold sandwiches: Ham and Garlic Mortadella. I'm usually not a big fan of cold sandwhiches but wow these were really tasty! There is a lot of flavor in these and the pickes are really unique. I've never had a pickle like theirs before. I also tried their cheese flatbread and it's a lot fancier than it sounds. There is SO much flavor in the cheese flatbread AND the cheese they use is super unique and not regular cheese. Super happy I got to try this place out. I had a very good time. Eating here made me feel like I was a tourist in DTLA trying something new. The staff here is also super friendly and they care about the food they make. So much flavor in everything they make here with super unique and fresh deli ingredients!

The first thing that stood out was the location. It's definitely not the polished, picture-perfect side of LA that many visitors expect. Walking from the parking lot, you're met with a mix of body odor, urine, and sewer smells. If you can get past that short walk, you're in for a much better experience once you step inside. We were told to expect a long wait, but fortunately there was no line when we arrived and we were seated right away. The restaurant itself has a classic, vintage deli feel that's part of its charm. It was clean, busy, and surprisingly well organized. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and able to answer all of our questions about the menu. We ordered the famous #19 pastrami with coleslaw and the #44 grilled pastrami with sauerkraut. There were four of us dining, and the group was split right down the middle--two preferred the #19, while my friend and I thought the #44 was the winner. Either way, it's safe to say the sandwiches are excellent and there's likely an option that will appeal to everyone. The prices were also more reasonable than I expected. The pastrami was perfectly seasoned, cooked just right, and sliced generously. Every bite lived up to the reputation. Overall, Langer's is a very solid deli and absolutely worth trying for the food alone. My only real drawback is the surrounding area. I didn't feel particularly comfortable outside the restaurant, although that may simply be because I'm not used to that part of LA. Once inside, however, the experience was enjoyable and the food definitely delivered on the hype.

I've always questioned "nippy cheese". What is it? What makes it "nippy"?…read more Langer's is known for their best-in-the-west sublime-tasting pastrami, but on a whim we got their grilled Nippy cheese. We got the grilled nippy cheese on sourdough -- the bread is our only deviation from what a standard grill cheese sandwich is supposed to be: kraft singles on white-as-hayull bread, grilled to a golden brown, in butter, on a scorching-hot, flat cooking surface. The grilled nippy cheese here is the platonic ideal of what a grilled cheese sandwich should be. 1) The sandwich had the perfect golden-hued grilled color. 2) The cheese inside was the perfect ooey-gooey consistency. 3) The ration of bread to cheese was perfect. What was most surprising was the fact that this "nippy cheese" is from Kraft. Apparently, Nippy Cheese is what American cheese was called in the 1900s. This sandwich was so good I had to ask about the cheese. I expected the cheese to be some special-ass processed cheese-food from some specialty niche vintage supplier in Wisconsin. Nope! When a cashier asked, the cook said it was Kraft (Kraft singles is the only cheese appropriate for a standard grilled cheese sandwich, FYI) What this means is this sandwich was prepared perfectly. Whoever made this sandwich knows their stuff. I highly recommend Langer's grilled nippy cheese if pastrami ain't your thing.

These days when I cruise into Lincoln Heights, I'd be forgiven for my one-track horse-blinded…read moremind-a-wanderin, still hazed out over the swanked-out Airliner remodel...ah the memories... So it's quite the coup that I finally made it on over to the Heights DABS! A slice of that 18 inch pie is on the brain today as I skip up the mini-staircase into the joint. Having just come from another not-to-be-named Pizza spot in the DTLA to NELA corridor, my hangdog face belies my energetic hoppin-pep-in-the-step into Heights, shaking off a droopy and disappointingly dry slice amidst the brain-bleeding profanity laced hate-punk screaming over that joint's speakers as I sized up the Margherita I always use as an avatar to benchmark how we dooooin' in the pizza quality and taste department no matter where I go. I confess I've been captured and SPOILED by love affairs with Greek Pizza in Boston, Deep Dish in Chicago, NYC greezy gooey goodness at 3am, and of course the ultimate seduction of sublime simplicity of the Neapolitan Pizzas of Napoli. Yes, I am a sucker for the traditional brick oven Margheritas and Bufalinas of Italia, just that simple barometer of OG greatness, minimalistic bliss. Less than 5 bucks and 10 min later, I'm ambling down said teeny stairs with a large warm white cardboard box that seems far too large for a mere SLICE. Have they made a packaging error? I was expecting a small thin wilty Dixie plate! These days, we don't wanna waste cardboard, do we? Driving off, I contemplate a spot to pull over along the Arroyo Seco to enjoy my dining behind the wheel. I just can't hold in my wondering, patience is definitely NOT a virtue when curiosity is just killing this Jazz Cat. A quick stop at a red light later, I can't hold it in any longer. FLIP. UP. THAT. LID! Daaaaaaammmnnnn! That is one MONSTROUS slice, as I slyly smile in astonishment! But my sly smile slowly segues to sadness, then semi-panicked confusion, disorientation, even! For THIS is not the Margherita one familiarly recognizes as the artistic minimalistic masterpiece a proper Neapolitan Margherita MUST BE! I am starting to get anxious, angsty, and now a bit ANGRY! what a fool I was! Instead I am misled into chow down mode to consume a Godzilla-sized molten mess of mossy dry basil haphazardly strewn about to and fro across the pie, resembling katsuo bonito flakes dancing around in the disarray of their differential dehydration! Inexplicably, jagged rows of somewhat square Roma tomatoes are lined up in lazy formations like a disorganized military company. What's more, the gooey globs of mozzarella are NOT expertly anchored down to the bed of cheese below, supposed to cling to the pie while providing just enough protruding relief like an old globe map with a mountain range rising above the horizon. Nope, they are instead here and there and almost everywhere, seemingly untethered to the matrix of cheese below, chaotically floating around like slightly rectangular glops of pale possible goodness?!!? JT, hold it together, you must attack this mess while it's still hot. Beep Beep! THE LIGHT HAS TURNED GREEN MANY SECONDS AGO! Get thee to the Arroyo! Minutes later, I'm at my perch. I bite into the unruly beast. I am pleasantly greeted by a most satisfying CRUNCH! Then a chewy tug-tremendous! Then the mass of basil flakiness flying through my mouth and down the hatch, chased by those deeeelish misshapen untethered white cubes o' cheesiness charging down my throat aside tons of tumbling tomatoes! It's an absolute avalanche of WOW! It's like there's a party in my mouth, and the most unlikely heroes showed up and showed out! Let's add the Unconventional Neapolitanical Pizzas of Lincoln Heights to the Lovefest List! Heights DABS, you've made my day. On to meet up with long lost friends converging in HP from nearby points dearly loved, I'm feelin' GRRRREEEEAT! DONE.

Service was nice & fast, unfortunately I did not think the sandwich I tried was all that. I'm not…read moresure why everyone advertises they use Boars Head... I think there are better deli meats. Sandwich was massive, however, it was mostly lettuce. Didn't notice from the pictures that the sandwiches aren't very balanced between meats and veggies. It's my personal preference for some more balance or flavor in a sandwich, peppers/onions/seasonings. Honestly, Jersey Mike's seasons their veggies better. I will say the bread at this deli was a notch above Jersey Mike's which is definitely a plus as good bread can make or break a sandwich. Mozzarella sticks were great, although they were normal sticks nothing out of the ordinary but I've definitely had worse sticks (looking at you Prince St Pizza...) so I'd recommend them if fried cheese is your jam! Service counter young lady was nice, she was quick and helpful with her suggestions. Small store, kind of looks like a convenience store and then the deli counter is on the right of the entrance and cashier is in the back. Easy ordering process. Parking is in the back, limited spaces. No inside seating available from what I saw, just counter to order and that's it. Grab and go type of spot for sure. Place was OK - if I lived closer, I would think it's an ok spot to come more often but I would not go out of my way to come.
