The burrata, white nectarine, prosciutto, tomato salad was refreshing & flavorful. The crispy artichokes were excellent. The Provençal short ribs were super tender, it came with carrots, roasted tomatoes & potato. The seared cod was flakey & tender, cooked to perfection, it came with carrot purée & brussels sprouts. Our desserts strawberry chantilly & flourless chocolate cake were both delicious. There's indoor & outdoor seating & a parking lot next door for $15. My only complaints were that the chairs were hard and uncomfortable, and there was no AC. It was pretty hot and stuffy inside, so we ended up sitting outside. Stopped in for Happy Hour with coworkers last week and had a good experience. I'll start with parking. Paid lot right next door. I don't remember how much. Paid via QR code. No option for time segments. Keep that in mind if you choose to park there. Service was hit and miss. Hostess who also seemed to be doing double duty as a server, was awesome. However, we sat at the bar thinking we'd have great service ... that's where it was hit and miss. He was busy - so it's understandable that he would focus on the job - except that we didn't have his undivided attention. He started taking our order then walked away. Almost to the point that we felt like he was just popping in, like checking in but then just walking off. This happened a few times. And, normally I'd be a little more irritated but he was busy and he didn't get our orders wrong and when we ordered, we didn't wait long. Food was good. Appetizers. See pics. I had a few glasses of wine - recently, I've been on a red wine kick. Not sure what happened but I'm not complaining. The apps were served quickly decent portion sizes for apps. Again, see pics. I like that there's parking nearby and the bar set up so you can sit indoors and still people watch - those walking by. Such a cute space! It is on Broadway next to other restaurants and shops. I came in with some colleagues after a meeting and the place was quiet for a saturday afternoon. Spacious area with cool seating. We grabbed a table and checked out the menu, which was unique. I had not ate in the morning, so I wanted anything with bacon. I chose the breakfast burrito and a side of fries. The burrito was good but I would have preferred some salsa inside because it was a little dry. The fries were good and the rose was tasty as well. Most of the table got a sandwich with salad and they enjoyed their choice. The waiter was nice but straight to the point when taking our order. If you were still looking at the menu thinking about your option, he would move to the next person. No suggestions no conversation about how to help to decide or upsell something lol. We ordered smoked salmon toast appetizer, mussels, steak & frite, pasta, and flourless chocolate cake for dessert. The stand out's were their mussels, smoked salmon toast, and dessert. The pairing of smoked salmon over a buttery spread, on top of perfectly crunchy toast was so good! Mussels were perfectly seasoned and big in size. And also, their flourless chocolate cake .. WOW. Do save room for their dessert! One more thing to mention is that they have a great selection of non-alcoholic drinks including mimosa, champagne, and mocktails. Date night with the wifey. What an amazing little spot. A menu that pleases everyone (unless you're one of those that needs chicken nuggets everywhere). The kicker, a very reasonably priced spot that makes you feel like you're on a fine dining adventure. My wife got a pasta that was absolutely delicious. I don't remember the name. My review is for the steak frites. Wow! Perfectly cooked medium rare and the skinny fires were delicious and light. There are two sauce options. I got the chimichurri, and I don't think I'll be able to get anything else. It was that good. I can't wait to come back over here. While the service was friendly, I was left with the impression that they care more about looking cool, than being overly attentive. Hence one star do down. read more

He asked if bar seating was okay and I said yes, however I was seated by the POS which is my least favorite seating but even with the constant waiter traffic, it wasn't too bothersome. I ordered the grilled salmon and the flourless chocolate cake. Both were delicious! HOWEVER, the ratatouille was a pile of slimey gooey mush siting on top of the bed of rice, under the salmon. I tried to eat it, but it just was so off putting I couldn't stomach it and pushed it to the side. Now, the real issue was my bar tender / server. After placing my order (I ordered my entree and dessert at the same time, no drinks), he NEVER came back to me. No one asked how I was doing, if everything was okay, etc. I was there long enough for at least one check in. He walked passed twice I believe, but no eye contact lol. I've never experienced that. I had to ask someone else for my check. I asked the person if I could pay via the inKind app, he said yes, gave me my check number and told me how.. but it looks like they still charged my card! So I'm hoping the pending transaction will be dismissed. Either don't sit at the bar here, or just don't come at all. read more

An intimate little French cafe where I enjoyed a nice anniversary dinner. It looks like its part coffee shop, part restaurant, part old-school LA bar, but tonight it was rather hot inside as we're in a bit of a heatwave. That didn't stop us from ordering the steamy provincial short ribs, cooked perfectly and paired with a delicious and crispy potato gratin. These were incredibly tender and savory. The Japanese sweet potato might have been even better though. Not particularly large but packed with flavor. A little yogurt adds even more sweetness. The Brussels sprouts were admittedly not my favorite. A bit too thick for me, which kept them from getting crispy. The pistachio flavor profile isn't really my favorite either. Inside is nice and roomy and service was for the most part good until the end they began to take a bit longer as the people started coming in. This place was a great find while wandering around downtown in the morning. I was actually on my way to another place that id tried recently not too far away, and I noticed the neon sign as I walked past from the opposite side of the street. I crossed the street and walked in, sat down and studied the menu for a few minutes. There was a gentleman enjoying his breakfast when I arrived, it appeared that I might be the second person to walk in that morning because they had opened shortly before I arrived. To make a long story short, good service, really good food and coffee, nothing to complain about. Id definitely come here again, and recommend it to anyone looking for quality food early in the morning, or even an early drink, since they have a full bar and open at 7am. I ordered the Blueberry Pancakes, and they were perfect -- not overly sweet and had a very healthy version of pancakes, wholesome flavor, which I really appreciated. I've recently stopped drinking soda and sugary snacks for my health and have been exercising daily to manage my blood sugar, so it was great to enjoy pancakes that felt light and healthy. My Mom had the Avocado Toast with a Decaf Americano, and I also ordered a Decaf Americano -- it was very good. I went to Zinqué few times now and always have a great time with friends. Their Le Breakfast Bowl is my go-to for lunch because its packed with veggies and just delicious! The bowl includes egg, quinoa, avocado, garbanzo beans, roasted cherry tomatoes, ninja radish, mixed greens, burrata, and is topped with miso-tahini dressing. I've tried their lattes here before as well and can't get enough of their iced Hazelnut Latte. It's perfectly sweet and packs the mid-day caffeine fix for me. A noteworthy fun dish I've had here is their Pork Belly Taco. It's a big-sized taco that is rich and packed with cubes of pork belly, and topped with carrots and cilantro for the perfect bite. We decided to stop in for breakfast before heading over to the flower market. I saw several reviews which mentioned that their bacon and crispy potatoes breakfast burritos was good so I went with it. It would be a great place for a dinner date or to grab some drinks. A place like this with a big bar will likely have some good cocktails. I took off a star because the service could have been better. I'm not sure if they were short staffed that particular saturday morning but it was really slow for only a few patrons being in the restaurant. It looked like they were still setting up and getting the bar ready. Most restaurants and bars take care of a majority of the setup before they open, this place clearly did not so getting there right when they open might not be the best time. Street parking might be difficult at times and the area is a bit seedy but there are paid lots in the area, I always try to look for street parking which was meters in that area. There is cozy seating inside and high top tables outside, which is where I dined. The service was unexpectedly fast, as I got quickly seated within five minutes of speaking with the front of house. I tried the delicious red pepper hummus and cheese dip, which came with delightfully toasted bread. I moved on to the seared cod, which came on a delish carrot based purée and also tried the mushroom pasta (which I added grilled shrimp too). The food came out pretty quickly and tasted phenomenal, each plate with a whirlwind of flavor. I'm very glad everything worked out timing-wise, as dinner did not take long at all before having plenty of time to make it to the comedy show just next door. The place is impressively large with a pleasant modern feel, but it can get filled up, especially later in the day. We'd walked by it the night before and it had looked pretty busy. They offer a lot of (but not overwhelming number) items on their menu. We were glad to see a good amount of vegetarian options. I got a coffee and the smoked salmon toast and the hubby got the breakfast bowl. We were both very impressed with the quality of the food, and thought the friendly, attentive service was great as well. We also thought the prices were reasonable for the quality. They were staying in downtown, so we decided to give Zinque a try seeing as we had never been there for some reason. We had a reservation, so we were seated right away on the patio. Our sever was on top of everything, with recommendations and drinks. So we ordered pretty quickly, as everyone had an idea of what they wanted to eat. How was the food? Well, I personally got the bacon and crispy potatoes burrito. Presentation was kind of lacking, and flavor wise, it just did not stand out in any way. The potatoes could have been crispier, giving it that texture element to contrast the avocado, while the spinach felt a little wet. It came with salsa and was really needed to give it a little more punch of flavor that was lacking. The banana buckwheat pancakes had a nice caramelization on the bananas, but the pancakes themselves did not necessarily stand out. They were decent but they were pancakes that you wouldn't differentiate from other buckwheat pancakes from another establishment. The soft scramble was decent, eggs were cooked well and the herbs and parmesan were a nice touch for flavor. Finally, le breakfast bowl had a lot going on with it but was a nice meal on the healthier side. Overall, left Zinque feeling like it should have been better than it was, While there were some decent dishes like the soft scramble, things like the breakfast burrito were really a let down. And with so many places in DTLA you can go to for brunch, Zinque did not necessarily make me feel I needed to come back nor recommend others try it out. read more

Love the light bulbs on the tables. They had a fixed menu that we paid before, arrived and we were seated right away. Wife ordered a passion fruit martini and I ordered an old fashioned, both were good. The appetizers were a humus and red pepper feta with focaccia that was delicious, deep fried artichokes with a tangy sauce and a salmon tartare with avocado. For the entrees my wife got steak frites with a chimnichurri sauce, she asked medium well but it came medium (my preference), it was tasty but not what she asked.
