This cafe is located in the Virginian Hotel, where we finally stayed this week! They offer almost all Starbucks drinks, including hot espresso drinks, iced coffee, cold espresso drinks, drip coffee, etc. I think they have everything except for French press or Frappuccinos. There is a custom egg station set up where omelets and scrambles are made to order. They serve a variety of local bakery items from Father's Bakery. We decided to try the croissant breakfast sandwiches, but everything looked delicious. Other menu highlights were - bagels, oatmeal, biscuits, fruit, cereal, tea, milk, bottled juice. The service is really fast, and the sitting area is bright. It's overlook the street along the front entrance of the hotel. All in all, a great affordable breakfast with mostly a la carte items (good to get exactly what you want!). We will return when staying in the area. read more

It's basically a Starbucks with some wine in the cooler. We were staying in the Virginian for the night, so we stopped down for breakfast the next morning. I ordered a gouda sandwich with turkey sausage, and my mom ordered a buttered bagel. For my drink, I had a Starbucks cold brew, and my mom had a peach tea. We ordered at the counter, received our drinks, then selected a table. A few minutes later, one of the girls working brought the food over. It definitely wasn't anything fancy or outstanding, but it was a good, filling start to the day. The space itself is also nice and welcoming. I spent most of my time there watching cars outside roll through the stop sign, including local cops. So much eye rolling. Safe to say, it's a good spot for some people watching! read more

My friend and I came here for a coffee and snack while we caught up after not seeing each other for a while. There was only one person working, so everything was a bit slow. But we didn't mind too much since we weren't in a hurry. The coffee and wine bar is in the Virginian Hotel and is gorgeously decorated with an art deco feel. We ordered a French Press of coffee to share. I got a chocolate croissant and my friend got a spinach pastry, which he said was delicious. I was glad that both of our pastries were warmed up for us, as eating them warm made them that much better. It's not the type of coffee shop environment I would go to do work, but it's a great spot to meet up with someone! read more

Love coming here! Just a short walk from where I work and I love that you can get Starbucks drinks here! The staff has always been super kind and they make things really quickly (and tasty). Of course, being in The Virginian, the decor is beautiful as well, and it's a very convenient location for hotel guests and those (like me) who work downtown. Decided to try the omelet today since I skipped breakfast and it was delish! They thought they were out of spinach, but they went and found some more for me, even though it was close to the end of breakfast time :) The only negative is that some items are a bit expensive for what you'd normally expect to pay, but it is in a hotel so that's to be expected. I haven't tried any of the pastry or other options, so I can't speak on those at all (but will update if I do) If you're staying at The Virginian or just need a downtown Starbucks fix, then this is a great, convenient option! read more

I wish I could give less than a one star review. This weekend me and my Fiancée stayed at The Virginian and love coffee, so trying Marigold was a no brainer. We go into the cafe, and there is no one waiting yet so we walk up and Denise, is immediately rushing us instead of letting us look over the menu. I get panicky, and say I want an iced coffee(I didn't want that) and my fiancée knowing me better than that, corrects me and says I want creamer and stuff so I go "okay yeah, uhhh can I have an iced latte" well Denise, who clearly is new to customer service, starts screaming at the other employee saying "WAIT WAIT WAIT!" And audibly sighes and goes "what DO you want" with the most attitude I've ever heard. I repeated that I wanted an iced latte and she laughs in my face. I've never been more embarrassed and humiliated in my life. Needless to say, I'll be telling any of my friends and associates about this experience. Do NOT go to Marigold! And the coffee wasn't even that good! read more

Stopped in for coffee and a chat...both were excellent. Awesome place to meetup with a friend and food to bring home for dinner as well. I will be back again to enjoy this place! read more

Stayed at the Virginian a few nights for work travel. Love the hotel, not so impressed with Marigold's breakfast. The omelet I had one of the mornings was great! Egg white substitution and it was loaded and filling. This morning was a different story - ordered some sausage links to go with the egg plate....as you can see, I was served sausage that wasn't even cooked. It was pretty disappointing to be brought that considering you can see them making your meal behind the counter and it was simply just not left on the hot top long enough. read more

I came here for coffee while staying at the Virginian Hotel. Why drive to Starbucks when I can get my fix after a quick elevator ride instead? The coffee was reasonably priced and very good, and the service was great as well. The barista who helped me was incredibly friendly and accommodating. I asked her to leave plenty of room for cream in my to-go cups, and she followed my request to a tee. I went down to the Marigold this evening after dinner to try a brownie. DELISH! The brownie was thick, dense, moist, and fudgy -- all things a brownie should be! I loved every bite. I thought about going back down to get another one, but I ultimately decided against it because it was really rich. I look forward to returning to Marigold. The cafe is beautifully decorated and it boasts floor to ceiling windows throughout, which allows for natural light to pour in, and the interior is immaculate. It really is a beautiful space! read more

Stunning! The service and the decor were both very similar in the sense that is was amazing. My husband and I were treated like royalty by the barista(didn't catch her name) and the manager, Thomas, who went above and beyond to get us 2 slices of the amazing cheesecake that used to be made at Shoemakers. I have never experienced such service like I have here! The barista did a fantastic job creating our lattes that were marvelously made despite being out of caramel! The price we had to pay for a wonderful time! The Virginian hotel is definitely a hidden gem in Lynchburg. We will be back sooner now that we know this is here! read more

Giving one star for the environment and overall ambiance of the shop, it's a beautiful place in a great location. That's being said, I'd go to Starbucks before i go here. The coffee is terrible and the baristas are clearly under trained and lack knowledge. Espresso is bad, milk is always too hot and way too foamy, which reinforces my point that the "baristas" don't know what they're doing enough to even know the difference in milk texture between different espresso based drinks.
