The reviews here were mediocre but I liked the menu. So I tried to chance it. I ordered a Blue Moon on draft (they didn't have oranges which was fine but later I overheard they didn't have limes either.) I ordered a one meat plate with sliced brisket, okra, and corn on the cob. The brisket was cold and extremely tough. I'm not sure I've ever had brisket I wouldn't eat again. I combined the fire bbq sauce and traditional sauce to get a fairly good flavor but the meat was almost too tough to chew. Even the toast was cold and pretty crunchy. read more

The locals recommended this place so I gave it a try. Parking is ample off the service road. Interior is no pretense with a small bar as you enter. I sat along the windows which actually was a cozy spot. The wait staff was friendly and give good recommendations. I had a two meat platter with brisket and Turkey breast, green beans along with Mac and cheese and an adult beverage. Overall food quality good, but not great. The Turkey was actually more moist and flavorful than the brisket. I did try the sauces, the house blend was very good, the others were just OK. The green beans had two little stalks so not so great but the Mac and cheese was very good. I also had blueberry cobbler with ice cream, and that was just great. My own rule is if the desert is the best part of the meal, than the meal was not so great. I'd say they do a good job for what they are offering and for that need for BBQ and causal environment this establishment does just fine, but I would not go out of my way to get there. read more

Quick lunch stop on our drive through town. $5.99 kids meal with a foot long corn dog, side, drink & large ice cream was a great deal. Plenty of food for our 2.5 year old and probably plenty for a 10 year old. Memrie was our server and she was great! She was attentive, kind, friendly and made sure all our needs were met. The only issue I had was some items on the menu seemed to be overpriced while others were spot on what I would expect at other places. I've travelled to Mcalester several times for business. Options for food are limited. The Rib Crib can best be described as typical for a small town franchise of a chain. The food is fairly consistent, servers less so. The Bbq chopped beef is a bit bland, dry ( which I like - you can always augment with BBQ sauce), and yet at the same time a greasy film can be detected. Cole slaw is a bit over mayonnaised for my tastes, but fine. Same can be said of the potato salad. French fries are the "spicy" type which I simply can't eat. The cheeseburger consists of two thin patties, over-seasoned, with a melted cheddar like product on top. I sent both of these back, making sure to let my server know it was not her fault when she tried to apologize. My first visit, the server wasn't impressive, but got the job done. Second visit, the server put up with my idiosyncrasies ("I have a hard time seeing in this booth, mind if I take that seat near the window?") with grace. Very pleasant and I appreciated it. There are several hotels nearby, so the crowd is a mix of locals and transients. The latter mostly sitting at the bar area, the former at big tables with their families, laughing, wrangling babies, and generally enjoying one another's company (fellowshipping, as those from my Baptist upbringing might call it). read more

Every Tuesday my elderly mother and I have supper out. Rib Crib is a favorite destination of hers. This evening we arrived around 7pm. I was surprised to see the restaurant almost empty on All-You-Can-Eat rib night. After being seated and perusing the menu we waited about 10 minutes before I had to wave down an employee. We had not been greeted and told we would be helped shortly; we did not have our drink order taken. The woman I asked about our server said someone would be with us right away. Meanwhile, a couple had been seated and a party of 5 or six had been seated. Finally, five minutes later here comes a server...to take the drink orders of the tables who sat down after us. Looooooove Rib Crib! I've never had it until we moved here and I'm going to miss it now that we're moving again. I love their club salad, they give you a ton of meat and their BBQ ranch is to die for. I wasn't super impressed with the loaded potato I got to-go, but they were slammed and had people packed and waiting to be seated so it was understandable. Wait staff is always very nice and usually visibly presentable. My kids have always got polite attention when we go in. The waitresses are especially helpful when you don't know what to order, they're quick to tell you their favorite or something everyone else frequently orders.
