This is my all time favorite restaurant in all of Shelbyville! Their food is always hot, fresh, and fast. I swear they must have their own farm because the chicken wings are to die for! Best chicken I've ever tasted, not to sound dramatic! I suggest trying those and the Marimba Steak Fries. Their margaritas are also amazing. I find the Texas Margarita to be the most refreshing and tasty, so definitely give that one a try. Their prices also aren't insane like all the other restaurants around which is a HUGE plus. Now for the service; these people treat you like FAMILY if you treat them respectfully. They will learn your name and your order in a very short amount of time. I go there often and am always greeted with warm smiles and even a few hugs. It feels so safe there and the ambiance is fun and peaceful. Oh, they also have the best outdoor patio around these parts. It's huge, welcoming, and amazing to sit out there and get some sun on nice days. You definitely won't be disappointed going here, enjoy! read more

Late to posting, however at this time after everything in the past, I have visted this food establishment in the past year to find that the food and service is the Best in Shelbyville!! The food here is extremely similar to most Mexican restaurants, the huge difference here is that you will be spending about 1-2 dollars less here than you would elsewhere in town per dish. Beers are 2+ dollars cheaper than everywhere else in town for the large drafts. Service is always solid and the ambiance is great if you can get out in the deck for live music! read more

My family and I have dined here twice and both times have been great experiences! We were seated immediately, our waiter was courteous, prompt, and friendly, our drink orders were taken right away, and brought out to us shortly after, and we were given chips and salsa right after sitting down. Their salsa has a little kick to it, which I love! We have had both their lime and strawberry margarita pitchers (on the rocks), and while I typically like my margaritas a bit stronger, they were very tasty! First time there, I ordered a quesadilla and the second time, a chimichanga. Both were VERY good! My entire family enjoyed their meals as well. We will be returning! read more

I really wanted to up their reviews. DO NOT get me wrong.. their food is amazing, like so so so good!!!! When we pulled in, there was all kinds of cars. The place was packed.. so I am thinking, "This is going to be a fiesta!" They have a huge outside patio.. so of course we chose that, DUH. We sat for over ten minutes before we got drink orders. Things were going smoothly until we waited over 30 minutes for our check.. and we never got beer refills. The table next to us even said, "Oh yeah, it is so good.. but the service sucks!" I used to love this place but it has really gone downhill as a restaurant to choose for lunch. In the past we would eat the lunch buffet. The last two times I went there the food wasn't that great and both of us got sick afterwards. (Fooled me once shame on you, fooled me twice shame on me.) Take this review with a grain of salt, as you do a tequila shot. I don't usually go for this type of tex mess style of restaurant. I enjoy a little grittier or a little more refined if you know what I mean. This was our third choice in shelbyville. First choice was packed with a line due to a street party in downtown. Choice two I drove past because I was shooting the breeze with the gf. We stopped here because they have an awesome raised deck/ patio. The staff is friendly and courteous. The menu has the usual gringo suspects, chimichangas, cheeze sauce covered stuff. They also had a couple selections with the words spicy hot in the description. I don't usually believe this but I will order for lack of any other options. The gf found a spinach quesadilla. It was actually pretty good. Fresh wilted spinach with tomato and ez melt cheez. I ordered a cortadillo (sic). Similar to a chile Colorado with choice of red or green sauce. I opted for green. It was actually quite spicy. A bit hot actually. I wish I had asked for corn tortillas. The menu is dicey. A different selection here or there the review could go south. I saw some tragic looking apps and entrees go by. I was visiting a friend this weekend and we decided to have a girls lunch here, with another friend. It has a kind of beach vibe. Like a Mexican restaurant on the beach. The chips and salsa are really good. The chips were a little greasy, but no big deal. I ordered the chicken ranchero. It took a little bit for us to get our food, but it was worth it. Our food was brought out steaming hot! So it was very fresh. The chicken was very delicious and I would highly recommend it. I'm not sure what my friends ordered, but it looked delicious and they loved it. Our food was so good that we couldn't stop eating, even though we were full. Lol! They offer a buffet, but I didn't take a look at it, or check out the restrooms for cleanliness. So that's the only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5. read more

Well here it is. If you like to wait for service and your food then this is your place! After waiting to be seated and they finally sit you down. There is free interpretation as to who takes your order. Like the host or a non existing server! Wait wait its serve yourself because that's what it is! After they figure it out. You place your order with one person, another brings your drink, another brings your food. So you never know who is really taking care of you. If you ever thought of some free food. Per-se dine and dash. This is your place they would never know. I'm not saying that I would but they don't notice you! I would have like to have had a margarita! If you need a place to eat, come to Marimba's, but this place isn't my favorite.The food that I got wasn't great, and it isn't the cleanest, and it took us an hour to get our food, but overall, a pretty good place. We LOVE this little place!!!! We stopped in on a beautiful Sunday to take advantage of the patio! It was perfect! Buffet was being served and my kiddos LOVED it! Unlimited QUESO and chips!!!! You would have thought it was Christmas morning for them!!! The buffet food was deelish! The Mole sauce was divine!!!!! Normally Mole sauce is NoT my favorite... Great Mexican restaurant. The chicken mole enchiladas are amazing. Great homemade chips and salsa. The restaurant is busy but not crowded, which adds to the atmosphere. The only downfall is the decor. It feels a bit lit a cafeteria. However, the food and service more than make up for the lack of decor. read more

This place is AWESOME. This was the first restaurant we tried here in Shelbyville after moving here from Atlanta. I had a fave hole in the wall place in GA I liked and thought I'd give this place a shot! It's the perfect "comfort" Tex Mex cuisine with a laid back and family friendly atmosphere. I've gone several times to the lunch buffet which is such a good deal. The margaritas have always been perfectly strong and chips and salsa free flowing. There seems to be karaoke, but haven't had a chance to check it out. Prices here are affordable, especially when feeding an entire family which can easily get expensive. I will continue dining at this fun little Mexican joint! (They do allow smoking in a designated smoking area inside which is TERRIBLE, but I've only ran into that being a problem once out of ten times) read more

That's where the good ends Ordered the steak fajitas, the vegetables were fine but the steak was very bland and over cooked. The rice was the highlight of my meal. We went to Marimbas and had a coupon from Restaurant.com. The owner signed up for this service and the gift cards have no experation date. Not only did the owner refuse to take the gift certificate but the next day he called and invalidated the certificate even though it wasn't used. We are currently trying to sell a house and plan a wedding so it's a big deal that we even get to go out. We ended up paying for the whole meal, some of which we wouldn't have gotten but with the gift certificate we had to spend a certain amount to use it, had to deal with a horribly rude owner of the restaurant who then invalidated something we paid for. That's such shady business practices. Just on ethical standards alone I don't think we'll be back to this restaurant. read more
