I'm a pretty athletic person, mostly running, currently I run on averge about 15 miles a week. And after years of running marathons (5 full and 8 half marathons), one would think that my legs would look solid and amazing. But I have been struggling with cellulite on my thighs for many years now. I've also tried squats and going up and down stairs. I'm fairly thin and for the most part eat healthy. I would always feel bad when friends would comment how surprised they were when the saw the dimpling in my legs, since they all thought I was such a workout freak. I realized that what I was doing was not enough. I had heard about Vela Shape a long time ago but was always afraid of doing it. I found a groupon deal for 3 sessions and decided "why not". It was very easy to make an appointment, the receptionist was really friendly and answered a lot of my questions. On the day of my first session I noticed that the place is very clean and pleasant. I was lucky enough to have Ronnie as my Vela person. She was amazing, she explained everything including how the procedure was performed and what to results to expect. My first session was mildly painful (totally bearable) and I had bruising on my both my thighs. I scheuduled my following sessions one week apart. It wasn't until after my third session that I began to see a difference. Visually there was mild improvement but when I rubbed my thigh there was significant smoothness to them as well as less dimpling. I purchased another 9 sessions. I continued with the weekly sessions and with every week I began to really see and feel the difference. I am on my 10th session now and the difference is amazing to me. My mother and friends have all noticed the smoothness of my thighs and my butt looks a little perkier! I use run with a sweater wrapped around my waist to help cover my butt and thighs, but now I just wear my running short. The confidence this treatment has given me is life changing for me. I still continue to workout and try to eat well, as I realize these treaments are not a substitiute for good health. But I have thank the wonderful staff, especially Ronnie for treating me so well and helping me love my body again. I had a long consult with Melissa about candidacy for the sculpting procedures, as a few were of interest. I wanted to know what therapeutic recommendations are made days and weeks prior to any procedure and post-procedure care, such as use of infrared sauna, arnica, gentle yoga, acupuncture, massage, and so forth to promote circulation and faster recovery. Obviously, these options are at the discretion of the patients. I had visited the website and read every page, looked closely at every picture, and read every testimonial. There is so much room for improvement on the website. But I was more concerned about the people who represent the services, the docs, and the feel and look of the place. I wanted security knowing that I would be cared for by peeps who really knew what they provide, protocols and procedures, and who would offer impeccable care afterwards. I came away impressed by Melissa's professionalism, responses, and her person. She came across as very knowledgeable, seasoned, and professional, without putting out any sales pressure or any hint that she judges or criticizes anyone. The sense of acceptance and encouragement to do what is right for the best interest of the person before her was appreciated. And she knew all the answers about pre-care, procedures, and post-care. My experience with Athenix began pleasant, but ended up disastrous. First, I was given a blood work up form which was filled out incorrectly. There were additional test required which cost me an additional $95 in order to have my procedure done on time. On my second day follow up after the procedure, they did not have the correct garment for me which subsequently caused a large legion on my lower abdomen. On my three month follow up, I was seen by another doctor, that was not my surgeon. After her examination, she commented "At least you would look nice in your clothes". If I could leave negative stars, I would. This is going to be a long review however, if you are considering getting a procedure done with Athenix, PLEASE read this till the end. It could potentially save you months or years worth of disappointment & regret. This all began in May of 2015. I went in for a consultation with Melissa. She said my doctor would be Dr. O. I asked "Is Doctor O board certified?" she stated "YES, she is". She told me Doctor O had done work on her before and she was happy with the results. I was so comfortable with all the information given that I was finally ready to do it! Fast forward to surgery day and post-op. For an anesthetic, they do a -you're awake but not really- and you're not supposed to remember anything. Surgery went okay although, I do personally remember a scary part about when I was awake briefly and able to feel the procedure being done (a burning sensation in my stomach). I was sent home to rest and recover after. During my recovery, I called the office multiple times with concerns which the staff was somewhat helpful with. I noticed that when I spoke to two different employees, I got two different answers to my question. I asked in regards to my Brazilian butt lift, how long could I not put direct pressure on my bottom. One employee told me 4 weeks and the other said 6 weeks. As my abdomen was healing I also called and informed the staff that I saw deep creasing in three areas and that I was worried it would become permanent. Each time I voiced my concerns, I was told not to worry, was somewhat brushed off, and told to continue wearing the garment because I probably still had some swelling and it would get better with time. When it was getting close to the time to remove my drain tubes, I was having some chest pain because I could feel what I thought was one of the tubes all the way up into my breast area. I called and let the nurse know however, she stated it was not possible for it to be up that far and it was probably just scar tissue and of course....not to worry. When I went in to get the tubes removed, I was more than happy as they were very uncomfortable. As the tubes were being removed, I could ACTUALLY FEEL the tube up in my breast area being removed. This confirmed the pain I was experiencing was indeed the tube inside my body pressing against my breast area for nearly a week. I was a little disappointed in how high up the scars were on my pubic area since I was told they would not be seen while wearing underwear or a bikini which is not the case (see photos).Fast forward to my check ups 3, 6, 9 and even 12 months...I STILL have the creasing and uneven stomach but hey...MAYBE I still have some swelling 15 months later. LOL. Dr. O saw my results at my 9 months, and told me I may need revisions around my belly button area but she would give me 3 free Velashapes to help with the creasing and unevenness. I keep telling myself to keep my hopes up but the reality is that the liposuction was most likely done improperly. The creasing and unevenness is here to stay everyone! Anyway I did get 3 free Velashapes and was told by Melissa if I leave a 5 star yelp review, she would give me additional Velashapes for free. Velashape is a TEMPORARY fix to help smooth and tighten the skin. This means I will have to continue getting these procedures to help fix my issues but only temporarily. Now...for the cherry on top.....after further research, I found that my doctor was 100% NOT board certified when she performed surgery on me. Malpractice anyone? I have been lied to and shrugged off when I voice my concerns about my recovery. I am 24 years old and now have a disfigured abdomen & large scars that can be seen while wearing a bikini or underwear. Essentially my abdomen now looks disfigured and will need additional surgery. Of course I contacted the CEO, practice manager as well as the HR department. I appreciate the "offers" but seriously.....what a joke. I was offered a "free" touch up, so that made me feel better for a couple weeks. I went and saw not one, but TWO of their surgeons to get an opinion on how to fix this. One doctor suggested a touch up around my belly as well as a REVERSE TUMMY TUCK. The tummy tuck of course you guessed it...would be at my expense. The other doctor had a different opinion. Goodness. That makes me feel super confident about going under the knife again with Athenix. In the end, I pleaded for a refund to be able to afford surgery elsewhere to which they declined. The funny part is...I've actually been considered and contacted by a casting producer on E! for the TV show BOTCHED. Sent over my photos & story to them last week. lol Once they get your money, you're no longer a priority. Unhappy with your results? Too bad, they don't care. Stay far away from this company. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra $$ for a reputable place. You'll end up spending the same amount due to the fact you will have to get a 2nd surgery to fix the 1st! read more

I love Dr. Begovic! I went to see her originally for breast augmentation after my implant leaked after 14 years. I have RA and wasn't thrilled about putting implants in again. Dr. Begovic suggested I have micro body sculpting of my abdomen and flanks to make my body more proportional to my own natural breasts. I was super nervous and afraid to give up my implants. I had my procedure done back in March and overall my experience was great. Pain is minimal, the only pain in the butt is the compression I had to wear for 6 weeks after, but it was all worth it. I had my flanks and hips done (not too noticeable areas) I went back to work in 3 days after the surgery. I felt the difference in my clothes within 8-12 weeks and Personally, I just wish this procedures weren't so expensive and I would go back for more but I first have to payoff this debt. read more
