It's been about a week when Mariners Pest Control completed the job. We decided not to tent the house, but to fumigate infected areas and repair damaged areas caused by termite infestation areas. Douglas, inspector, that provided estimate, checked infested areas, measurements, etc., is honest and upfront. The office called to schedule date (3 days) and followed up. Jeremiah, Alfonso, and Josh were the three sent to do the work. EXCELLENT employees of Mariners. They were courteous, respectful, and were always on time. On the third day and work was completed, Jeremiah walked me around and showed me where/what were done. They did more than expected. first of all they were late not even a call and the owner rinse the chemical in my planter and left goopy crap all over my hose and nozzle. It was all over his close, eyeglasses and face. he then asked me to use some rubbing alcohol to clean his glasses and use the whole bottle. It was full. It was like a clown act. I also told him I have special need dogs and not to spray anything ground level, only to find after he left that he left the lid to the can with chemicals all over it in the back that my dogs found. Nathan is a fair guy, and he is honest. I would highly recommend asking every termite company how much gas they plan to use on your house. Reason being there is no industry standard so they may only use enough gas to treat half your home, charge you regular price. I learned this from Nathan. Example 1 of why I appreciated working with Nathan. You need to read the contract, before you sign with any company. As you can see from previous reviews, things can get broken. I had an experience where something was broken. Based on contract, Nathan could have told me to take a hike. In the end, he was a decent guy and treated me the way that I would like to think I would act in the same situation, with fairness. Example 2 of why I appreciated working with Nathan. In the end, he treated me with honesty in all accounts, and he was fair. He was also the best priced, but the price is not what got him 5 stars. read more

At the exact time of my scheduled appointment, the field representative, Shawn, rang my bell. I was very impressed with his evaluation of my attic -- a tight space that he inspected and reported to be in good shape. His entire evaluation was thorough and his assessment did not add unnecessary costs. Very disappointed with this service. I called yesterday to have someone come out for a rodent inspection. They told me they'd have someone come out at 9am as my boyfriend needed to leave for work at 10am. They assured me this would be no problem. My boyfriend stayed home from work this morning, waiting for the inspector. He waited until 10:30am without anyone showing up. This totally wasted his time. We haven't gotten a call back since I let the woman know the inspector didn't show. We're super easygoing people & I've never written a bad review but this rubbed me the wrong way. Andy came to my house and provided a detailed estimate. He was flexible and provided answers to my concerns about the fumigation active ingredient Vikane. He was thorough and provided educational links and materials for me to review before we schedule the fumigation. His team needed 2 weeks notice to schedule the fumigation and his team will work will the gas company to turn off your gas too. Also make sure you have enough bags to store your food and medicines. We double bagged our food and medicines. On the day of the fumigation his team arrived at about 9 AM and was ready with extra bags for us and was already on the roof putting the tarp around the house. Please note that you will need to call your satellite TV company after the fumigation in order to realign your satellite dish. Andy's team was helpful and had the tarps ready to go within a few hours. When the fumigation was finished, his team had the tarp off and had my house aired out by the time I got home early the afternoon on the 3rd day. The entire process took three days and two nights. I do not write many reviews and I am not long-winded. I called, set up an appointment; we had someone stop by. He educated me on what they look for, what they do, how they do, and what was there. We found traces of termites, we got them spot treated (got rid of them) and got me all set up for a 2 year warranty (with them coming back each year) and then a renewal, so they can continue to check the house to make sure we keep it termite free throughout the years to come. I signed up, as per my nextdoor neighbor's recommendation, with Mariners Pest Control, 4 years ago. I am very pleased with this choice. They pick up the phone quickly, and always do exactly what they say they will. They also come by every year, for an annual inspection, as per part of the contract agreement. Three out of the four year visits, a gentleman named James Denton, came out, and when he did, I was always pleased with how incredibly precise he is, in searching my home, for evidence of Termite Damage or droppings. And when he finds either one, he fumigates very professionally. I recommend this company very highly. read more

Came for inspection. Price quoted for treatment, which is their minimum for any termite treatment and even with application of the coupon, was almost double of others. Showed a picture of supposed damage in attic on painted beams, which do not appear to be from my attic. Later inspections by others and myself did not find painted beams or such damage. Update 1: Literally within a few minutes of posting my review, they called and left me a message offering to do another inspection in order to demonstrate that the attic damage was in fact from my attic. Although I could appreciate how responsive that was and that they tried to make it right, I did not give another star because it felt really creepy to be tracked down instantly (matching my name, number, and address) and contacted without asking to be (perhaps they could have just responded here instead). Update 2: A few minutes after Update 1, received another call but no message, from a mobile number in the same area. If this is Mariners, please respond to my review here. I do not appreciate the calls as it is making me very concerned. Also, if the intent is to clear up something wrong with my opinion, it would likely be better done here in front of the community. I contacted several Termite companies in order to schedule termite inspections for a property I have in escrow, and Nate was quick to respond and go out to the property the next day. In addition to being accommodating in terms of turn around time, he was upfront and honest abut the condition of the home. I will definitely be using Mariners again in the future. It had been a number of years since we last had our house tented. Shawn came out and walked me through all the many issues found on the house. He discussed in detail all my options and talked me through how each of the options would be handled. He answered all my questions and was always available to answer all the rest of my questions as I thought of them. Once I chose the option that best suited our needs Shawn assembled a great team. At that point Shawn brought out Nefi and Saul. What a team! Nefi and Saul went to work and didn't stop throughout the day. They took a massive job and made things look like new. It's frustrating when you initially are really excited about a service, based on how attentive they were with describing exactly what their game plan was, and giving you an exact price breakdown. They seemed like they had their stuff together. After we spoke over the phone, we scheduled our appointment for a Saturday to have them come out and inspect and service our home. Instructions were simple, to be available at the time we agreed upon and to empty everything in the kitchen cupboards in order to service the kitchen with the roach problem we've been having. I followed the instructions, waited at home for them to show, and no one came. I was frustrated, yes, because I waited around half the day for no one to come, but mainly because I unloaded and subsequently reloaded my kitchen cupboards for absolutely no reason. I realize mistakes happen, so I gave them another opportunity. We rescheduled again, for another Saturday (about a month out because they weren't doing Los Angeles runs until then...strange, but whatever). The next scheduled Saturday rolls around, and the Thursday before I called Crystal (the person who I've been communicating with) to confirm my Saturday appointment. I wanted to make sure to do my due diligence so nothing falls to the wayside. She tells me "Yes, absolutely. I've made sure that you will get serviced on Saturday!" So my mind it at ease. I remove everything from the cupboards (again) for Saturday morning, and wait around for them to show. WHAT A SURPRISE! No one showed. Again. The crappier part is that when you try to call on a weekend, only an operator picks up, and all they can do is take your phone number for them to call back. NO ONE EVER CALLED ME BACK ON BOTH OCCASIONS. Crystal apologizes profusely again. Tells me that the office manager to the tech/service people that I had cancelled my appointment due to that Saturday being a Saturday before a holiday weekend. I NEVER made any such call. Overall, this was a completely frustrating experience. They clearly do not have their lines of communication in order, and left me doing more work than the ZERO amount of work they did for me. Unorganized and unprofessional. Had an inspection scheduled for Tuesday 11/7/2018 for 9 am. Drove one hour to the location and made sure I was puntual and respectful of this company's time. Unfortunately they didn't have the same attitude. Never showed up. No call no show. Called them two times. They told me they would call me back. Never called be back. Sat there for 4 hours waiting for them and then just decided to leave. Guess I'll hire someone else. DO NOT hire this company. Believe the reviews. They do not show up. The original time a lot was 10AM. They never showed up, then they gave us a second window of time, again did not show up. We thought, okay, third time's a charm. It is now an hour after the end of the third time slot and it is dark outside. No one she's showed up. To make matters worse, when we got someone on the phone there were no apologies for not showing up, just a comment that he can still charge us- FOR NO SERVICE and not showing up. 1.5 HOURS FOR COMPLEX V.S. 4 HOURS MY UNIT PROBLEM I had problems with another termite company not standing up to their treatment. They said they would be there from 1000 - 1300 hours, and we need to be away for those hours. However, I had a problem and left for an hour, and I have to say I came back around 1.5 hours later, and thy were gone. PLAN On the flip side, MARINERS PEST CONTROL sent out Douglas, as an inspector. He spent "1hour" doing the inspection, looking at every nook and cranky for problems asserted by me. I did inform him throughly about my situation and possible threats of termites. I went for the foaming and spraying of the attic. This including fixing of the wood which was damaged. In my area alone (not the whole complex) was done in 5 plus hours. Not only did they spray, treat, foam, they also patch the places where the termite had cause damage. All I wanted was to get the WORK DONE RIGHT and that the TERMITES WILL NOT RETURN. There's also a pretty good warrenty on the contract. CONCLUSION How did the other company fix my problem in such a short period of time and was my problem really fixed? For now my problem seems to be in good hands, I will continue with the updates in the future. Of course, renew the warrenty because termites do come back! read more

He even handled the Gas company and most of all, unlike bids over 600 hundred higher, his crew handle the outside modifications for rain and yard drains when all the others wanted me to do all the physical work in prepping the exterior of the house. I wasn't planning on writing a negative review but when I saw the owner being nasty online in a community forum I knew the name rang a bell. I showed my husband just now and sure enough, it was the same rude and unprofessional owner we had to deal with years ago. We had them out for an estimate when we were thinking about selling our home in Irvine. They came almost three hours late (no call, no apology) and rushed us through a rough estimate/investigation (maybe 15-20 minutes) pushing an annual plan even when my husband told them we were likely selling the house. Ended up not going with them and then a month later we received a bill for an escrow inspection? When my husband called the office they insisted that the bill was a mistake. They said no problem and then two weeks later another bill arrives. Long story short, we worked it out but the owner was unprofessional and rude, even threatening at times. Very disappointed in Mariners Pest Control. Went on yelp and found that this company was highly reviewed, so I picked this company last year, to service some termite issues I was having in my house. Despite the reviews, unfortunately, I have not had a positive experience with this company. Please read if you want to consider using them. I picked this company because yelp had suggested it had 4/5 stars with good reviews. This company sent a termite inspector to my house and he sprayed many areas in/around my kitchen that had termites. I spent around 4,500 dollars for that service, which included a 2 year warranty that allows for free inspection of treated areas, once a year. This year (I.e., about 3 weeks ago) , I called them to come and inspect our kitchen area again because I suspected some termite activity. They completely missed the first appointment, without even informing me. I had to call them to ask what happened. They then sent someone after. This should've been the first indicator that this company was not what I had read and hoped for when I picked them on yelp. When the inspector finally came to my house, he was in a confused and overall bad mood. He kept ignoring our findings and wanted me and my family to prove to him that we had termites. The issue was that we cleaned our house and that day we could not find any specific bugs to show them. We kept asking them to inspect all the areas that they serviced last year, but the inspector was not willing to do that. He admitted he didn't know what areas his company had serviced at my house the year before. Isn't that standard information you should be equipping your inspector with before sending him to a house for an annual warranty inspection? On top of this lack of preparedness, he was shouting in my house, and overall was not cooperating with my ask to investigate the areas that were serviced last year. He instead left the house and called his manager, by the name of Ashley. I spoke to Ashley and she confirmed she would send over another inspector soon after, but unfortunately I never heard back from her. It's been 3 weeks since that incident and I'm extremely disappointed because I was unable to utilize the warranty perks I was promised. I'm very upset with the overall lack of professionalism by this company. My suggestion would be to use word of mouth in addition to yelp reviews. This is not a company that is ever recommend using. Mariners was the first company to come out to my property out of the 3 I called for inspections. Well it turned out that not only were they the most thorough inspection, with their inspector explaining my different options in a way that made sense, he gave me a price that was better than the bigger name companies that came after him. The price was good but Mariners warranty is what put them over the top. They warranty the entire property for 2 years not just the areas they treat. Other companies were only going to warranty the spots they treated for 1 year. Big difference. I've recommended them to two people since, one got a fumigation from them and the other went with a local treatment. read more

We hired Douglas from Mariners Pest Control to treat our home and repair damaged wood, facia boards along the roofline and side of our home from termites. I was very nervous about this kind of repair as I have Stucco eaves right up to the facia boards and the boards are under concrete roof tiles, the gutters needed to be taken down and it was not an easy job. Let me tell you that they showed up when they said they would, they were very nice men, they were thorough and finished in 1 day! They treated all the wood areas in all of our attics (we have 4) and exterior wood. We got several bids and this is the only company we felt told us really what was happening and they had the best price! I am attaching some pictures of the work they did. They did a GREAT JOB! I ordered two termite inspections with this company online and the scheduling part was pretty easy. The agent did a quick inspection and said he will send me a report afterwards. A week later, there is nothing. I called the company twice and both times they said the agent will contact me and there is nothing. I felt extreme in professionalism as they showed up 3 hours and 1 hour early to my appointments. Very disappointed and I need to take time off and order inspections from different company. We thought that we might have termites because we started seeing small flying insects in our garage. I was concerned about it because we were getting a new puppy and if there had to be any treatment done I wanted it before our puppy arrived. Mariners moved some of their appointments to accommodate us.A technician came to assess our home and thankfully we did not have termites. He went ahead and did a free inspection anyway. The technician that came to the home was kind, knowledgeable and honest. It turned out that it was a bug from the dog food that we store in our garage. I had suspected that but wasn't sure. This review is for Mariners Pest Control Inc. Out of Lake Forest, CA I just found my invoice but felt I owed them a review for the great job they did by removing my termite issue in my attic. First by sprayed the attic. Then by drilling and filling a door jam. Next Douglas went around the house with a poker to find broads with dry rot. 8 broads had to be replace. The workmen got all for this done in a couple of hours. They were fast and cleanly and they did not leave a mess behind. I called a handful of places there quote came in the middle. I never go with the highest bid nor do i go with the lowest. I feel that's got my money's worth. I would recommend them to friends and family members because they seemed very honest. Also they did a good job of making the repairs look flawless to the older broads. read more

I believed I had some type of rodent issue in my attic and contacted Mariners in hopes that based on their high star rating, and prior yelp reviews, I too would be a satisfied customer. I scheduled an appointment between the hours of 8-9 on a Wednesday morning and did not hear anything from HQ or the technician by 930. I understand that jobs run long, early morning traffic, breakdowns are all apart of normal unavoidable circumstances, and waited till 1130 to contact Mariners to see where my technician was and if he was still scheduled for the job at my residence. Only then was I notified that his truck had broke down and he had to rearrange his schedule for the day. I was frustrated, and somewhat understood that accidents happen, but was more upset that no one bothered to tell me that my schedule would be adjusted. I spoke with Ashley over the phone who apologized for the lack of communication and who stated my technician, James, would be at my house between the hours of 3pm-5pm. This time frame was inconvenient for me, but figured I could make it work if my girlfriend came home from work early. Come 430pm, still no update from James, so again I called and spoke to Ashley. Ashley said she would hear from James within moments, and would update us with his ETA to my house. I provided Ashley with a secondary phone number for my girl friend. As you might have guess based on how my previous complaints have read, no phone call from James, no phone call from Ashley, no technician at my house to take care of my rodent problem. I awoke this morning and spoke with Ashley, hoping for an explanation as to why I was made to feel so unimportant. I was met with a sorry apology, but still no offer for resolution. We received an estimate from a few termite companies and mariners was the lowest price. They were also able to finish the project the same week as the inspection, as we needed to get the project done quickly. The technician and his team showed up on time and finished in just a few hours. They did not stop at any point whiling working on our home. They worked all the way through until the project was completed. We were told exactly what was done right after they finished. We haven't seen any issues since they completed (We've checked!). Mariners came out to our home to look over areas of interest in our garage and the eaves of our house. We came to the conclusion that the garage had pockets of possible infestation. Since we might be selling our home in the next 2 years, we are hesitant to tent and/or treat now as we will have to do it again at the time of sale. We will wait until Autumn and revisit the possibility of local treatments. The Mariners rep was very open to our present situation and would gladly come back. The first visit was free and Rick was very understanding and accommodating. We will definitely use Mariners soon as they are professional and have great customer service. read more

They don't value your time. I was scheduled to have an inspection this morning at 9am. No call and no show. When 9:40 comes around, try giving them a call. After being assured the driver is on his way, I wait, and wait, and wait until 10:30. Nobody ever showed up. My morning was taken away from work and clients with complete disregard. As a lawyer, I always try to show respect and value others time as much I can. I know how valuable time is. The reckless disregard for my time today is a clear indication the values this company holds and the lack of respect it has for it's clients and/or protective clients. I'm a new home owner in the are and was looking for a reputable rodent/termite company to do business with. It's unfortunate my time was wasted by this company. Don't let them waste yours. read more
