A Action Review A…read moreAction is competent and punctual, but they tend to mislead about costs and overcharge compared to others in the area. We first used them for an issue with our AC because they are 5 minutes from our house. The tech was pretty straight-forward about diagnosing and repairing the broken motor. The only weird thing was the dude went around our house when we weren't looking putting their A Action stickers on several of our appliances, as if they were the ones that installed all of them. I had to go peel all of the ugly stickers off of things like our washing and drying machines and plumbing fixtures. The first experience was fine, so when the AC was on the fritz a year later we called them again for a repair. The tech comes out and says the motor capacitor is broken. He quotes us $500 to replace it with a "high-performance" capacitor. Then when the work is done, bills us for $900. "Well, the $500 was just for the parts. The final bill includes diagnosis and labor." For a 45-minute visit. I checked online after and we could have had the same generic part delivered to our house 3 days later from a local supplier for $55. I get that there is a premium for having the part on the truck to fix it right then and there, but a 1,000% markup for a stock part that I can replace myself is over the top. We called them again for an estimate on a new plumbing installation. We get told estimates are free. The tech shows up and looks over the work that needs done. Then he says we owe him $100 before he leaves. "I thought the estimate was free?" "It's for the diagnosis, not the estimate." Then they never even got back to us with a quote for the project. We'll look elsewhere from now on. We've worked with other licensed techs in this area for less money that are just as professional and responsive and don't change prices on you after the fact.

I was charged $$ thousands of dollars in additional costs beyond what the warranty company covered. After consulting with other HVAC professionals and comparing pricing with other contractors, I believe many of the charges were excessive and significantly above comparable market rates. Despite repeated requests, I was not provided with sufficient invoice detail to fully understand or evaluate all of the charges assessed. The lack of transparency regarding pricing, combined with delays in communication and scheduling, resulted in unnecessary stress and prolonged the completion of the project. As a customer making a substantial financial investment, I expected clear documentation, prompt communication, and greater accountability throughout the process. unit was an older unit, they provided no alternative solutions other than replace both systems. No other test performed other than gauge test for low pressure to identify leak. No repair option. If you have another contractor choice, use anyone else. They did not value my time, my money or my needs.

At the time, I had a service contract with another AC company, but they said the unit was not repairable and made no effort to contact Amana although it was only four years old and under warranty. I called Amana to determine what they could do. They confirmed the warranty was still valid and referred me to Comfort Zone. When I called the company, the service manager, Sean, dispatched two technicians to assess the situation, and then personally came out to confirm their findings. He concluded that the unit needed to be replaced. He contacted Amana, worked out all the details, and followed through to obtain a new unit which is now fully operational. Very impressive!
