1 Star -- Extremely Disappointing Experience I rarely take the time to write a negative review, but this experience was disappointing enough that I feel other customers should know what to expect. From the moment I walked in, I felt uncomfortable. There was an energy in the restaurant that felt noticeably tense and unwelcoming. I understand that every restaurant has a busy night and that not every interaction is going to be perfect, but this went beyond simply having an off night. As a customer, I should be able to sit down, enjoy my meal, and feel comfortable in the environment. I did not feel that way here. The service was the biggest issue. The overall experience felt inattentive and unwelcoming, and there was a lack of genuine hospitality that I would expect when spending money at a restaurant. Good service doesn't necessarily mean everything has to be perfect--it means the customer should feel acknowledged, respected, and valued. Unfortunately, I didn't get that impression. The food itself was average at best. Nothing I had was memorable enough to justify the experience or the price. It wasn't terrible, but it certainly wasn't impressive, and when the food is only mediocre, the service and atmosphere become even more important. What bothered me most was the overall feeling of the restaurant. I left feeling uncomfortable rather than welcomed. I don't expect employees to act like my best friends, but I do expect a basic level of professionalism and hospitality. The atmosphere felt hostile enough that I found myself wanting to leave rather than relax and enjoy my meal. That's ultimately what makes this experience so disappointing: the food was average, the service was poor, and the atmosphere made me uncomfortable. When all three of those things miss the mark, there isn't much reason for me to return. I hope management takes this feedback seriously because there is a significant difference between a restaurant having an imperfect night and a customer leaving feeling like they weren't wanted there. The staff and owner of this restaurant are absolutely disgusting and completely unprofessional. My experience here was beyond unacceptable. If you have an issue with your food -- whether it's incorrect, undercooked, or even RAW -- apparently you are not allowed to send it back without being treated like a problem. Instead of simply correcting the issue, the staff became hostile, gave me attitude, threatened to call the police, and ultimately kicked me out of the restaurant. All because I had an issue with the food I was served. And on top of everything else, I experienced behavior that I found to be racist and completely unacceptable. This is NOT how you treat paying customers. The way this situation was handled was disgraceful, unprofessional, and honestly shocking. A business that treats its customers this way does not deserve their money. DO NOT waste your money here. There are plenty of other restaurants that will actually respect their customers and take responsibility when they serve them food that is wrong or unsafe. read more

Mario's is a really good restaurant! A much needed addition to Edgefield, SC. The food was top notch (Italian food made from generational recipes but while innovated with local cultural tastes). The service was helpful and cheerful. The live music by Tim Barnett was fantastic. Halfway through, the owner even joined us at the table and we were able to get to know more about him and his family. And the ambience of the place was fantastic! Overall we spent about three hours there and had a very pleasant time. We will definitely be going back! read more

And when I opened the food, the wings were soft with white, fleshy skin- no fried appearance and why was the skin white and appearance of uncooked chicken? The owner wanted to see the wings- I told the truth, I gave all 24 wings to the dog and the fries bc that chicken had touched them. I asked to either refund my money or redo my order correctly. The explanation was as follows- " Our wings are not battered and then fried, they are fried plain and then sauced.. with them being to go and steaming in a box for 20 mins they are going to be softer"... Real fried wings are going to be real fried wings- even if a customer gets them 20 minutes later PERIOD!!!! I am so upset because local support and loyalty mean nothing to some folks! There are several restaurants in the Edgefield area that consistently deliver quality food and service. When I dine at places like the Pool Room or Mount Vintage, I know what to expect every time. Consistency and quality matter, especially in the restaurant industry. Unfortunately, on multiple visits to this restaurant, the food quality did not meet that same standard. I expressed this not to be disrespectful, but to offer honest customer feedback. My concern was simply that continued inconsistency in food quality can negatively impact any business long-term. I truly believe this restaurant may have been excellent in the past, and I also believe it has the potential to improve. Many diners-style restaurants serve outstanding food, and there's no reason this one couldn't as well with the right focus on quality and execution. The conversation was taken differently than I intended, which is unfortunate. Constructive criticism is part of running any business--especially in an industry where customer experience is everything. My intention was never to offend, only to offer feedback that could help the business grow.
