Absolutely love this place. Great food, atmosphere and staff. The Roast Beef, Cheddar and Bacon is my all-time favorite sandwich. Not just from Park Row, but anywhere. My #2 here is the Angus Roast Beef and Provolone. I usually hate potato salad. Their potato salad, however, is awesome! I get it every time! If the soup of the day sounds appealing, I'll get it as well. It's always been good, too. I have had their breakfast as well, and it was amazing! Great start to the day! My wife loves the Turkey & Pepper Jack Panini with the pasta salad. Her #2 is the Grown Up Grilled Cheese. Jody and his crew are awesome and greet me by name every time I come in. Park Row is absolutely a great choice for a great meal! **Edit: I just read through all the negative reviews... I have to call malarky on them. Yes, every restaurant can have a bad day, but I know Park Row would make anything right that goes wrong. I have been going there frequently for over 2 years and have never had a bad experience. Only thing I would say is sometimes they get a big to-go order from someone or something like that and that can slow them down some. But, hey, small town diner. Stuff happens. This place may be a small and quaint joint but the food is nothing less then great! Along with the country atmosphere, the sweet tea and lemonade are right up to par. I thoroughly enjoyed all the food I got. But my favorite was the Mac attack wrap! It offers a little bit of spice and the chicken is tender. Packed with flavor and full of chicken(not skimpy at all) I would order again. The turkey wrap was also delicious, it was the special of the day so I figured I'd try something new. As far as the potato and pasta salad, I preferred the potato salad. Just my preference but both were good. Another great quality of this place is the staff are very friendly. As well as the owner. They make sure to make you laugh and throughly enjoy your visit. If I had to say something that needed changing... I really couldn't pick something. Stopped in after picking up some peaches and vegetables at a nearby roadside market. What a great place for a sandwich! I am guessing it was a hardware or general store at some point based on the décor. I had the Rueben and it was one of the best I have ever had and I have had quite a few in my time. My wife had half turkey and half roast beef. The menu stated that it came on a pretzel roll. She asked for it on sourdough and they were happy to oblige. The owner came over to our table several times to make sure everything was OK. Next time were are in the area we will defiantly stop by again. read more

This was my first time visiting this restaurant even though I have visited this area ever summer as a child. The owner and staff were very friendly and I got to snag their last chicken salad sandwich right before closing. Which was amazing! It had the right amount of sugar added to it and all the ingredients were fresh including the bread. ( some companies miss the importance of fresh bread). The sandwich came with lettuce and tomato's on the side, which I've always been hesitant to try but I did this time and it really pulled the sandwich together perfectly. It also include chips and a pickle. I was walking back to our house, which was a 30 min walk and the sandwich still maintained it's freshness. I've experienced other companies who's meals may get a little soggy after letting it sit for a few but this did not what so ever. I got home ate half, waited about 20 mins and ate the remaining and it was still fresh and delicious. I would definitely recommend this spot and would most definitely go back! read more

It's hard to count the number of times we've had lunch at Park Row, but it's easy to count the less than satisfactory visits: the number is zero. They have a BBQ sandwich that comes with a side and never-ending iced tea, simply amazing! Other sandwiches are good but I keep coming back to their BBQ sandwich. If you visit on a day that Jody made a batch of gumbo, get a cup or a bowl! Service is always quick, efficient and friendly. It's hard to catch one of the servers idle. If you're like me you enjoy the opportunity to buy lunch for a member of South Carolina National Guard, local policeman, county sheriff or a state trooper. This is where they all come to lunch. But you have to be quick; there are always other patrons trying to pick up their tab. It's hard not to have a good experience at Park Row Market Number 1. read more

About a year ago we visited Park Row Market No. 1 in Edgefield (is there a No. 2?) and they were off their game...they couldn't even find the menus since they had had a party the night before. But was ok we just had the waitress tell us what sandwiches were popular and picked one and rolled with it. This week we were in Edgefield and decided to stop in again since it was convenient and they had tables available. We had the slowest young lady in the South waiting on our table... I point this out because it was as if she was giving us a free mime show as if she was if she was walking in a pool of Jell-O or drunk we couldn't decide which. She got for us some waters and a glass of HOT Tea with ice that quickly melted in my styrofoam cup. (Unnecessary note inserted here only for this restaurant management) note: Iced tea should be cold when severed in the summer in the South - most folks know this. We ordered our lunch (so we thought) and in our conversation did mentioned the time of day about how long till something was to start back home... I say this because we actually know when we ordered. Meanwhile back to the comedy show the young waitress was putting on: a couple set down at an open table and she decided (or did they ask) that the table needed to be cleaned. She proceed to get an dirty rag and an aerosol can and stepped back away from the table and sprayed into the air toward the rag the result was spraying the lady behind her... the lady gasp and was shocked that she was treated to a free unexpected Lysol shower that she was not aware that she needed. After a few coughs and gasp for air from the lady who had put down her book and looked around for help... the young lady seemed to never turn to her nor address what she had done. The lady quickly paid and left with her book - I assume leaving her lunch half eaten that had been delivered just a few minutes before. She had just settled in for a lunch with her book so I don't think she left as a happy customer either. Meanwhile back at my table we began to watch lunch orders come from the kitchen- as we watched plastic baskets come from the back one by one it was not our sandwich baskets. How long does it take to put chicken salad on bread and potato salad in a cup and send out a lunch. We waited 35 minutes before deciding that we were never going to get lunch and wondered if had the Mime even placed the order with the kitchen. Another couple saw us looking around and offered up that they too were about to give up. We debated and decided that they must have never placed our order and the restaurant also closes in a few minutes. Most of downtown closes at 2PM in Edgefield. I at that time when to the desk where you pay and said that I would like to pay for the tea (hot iced tea), and was TRYING to say that we were leaving when they Lady at the desk interrupted to say that our order would right out. I again tried to speak and she raised her voice at me. She offered that they had a big table earlier and gestured at an empty table. These people had eaten and left. So.... The kitchen should have recovered from the BIG table. This table could not have seated more than 8 people. I looked around the restaurant and thought everyone was looking at me. WOW this lady had just raised her voice at a grown person and I felt basically told me to go set down, wait and hush. I went back to the table and left 2.00 to cover my hot iced tea (no refill) drink. I would think that a customer could be heard out even if they complained about something like being showered with Lysol, a dirty table, slow service, their Styrofoam cup being empty this whole time, or being treated with ZERO hospitality and something more like contempt that you dare to approach the manager and suggest that you're simply leaving their restaurant due to NO food. What could have happened? Having working at a waiter and managing a restaurant I would say if the kitchen is really backed up have the staff or maybe a manger visit the tables, offer a little hospitality, and maybe what you can offer them of their order. Hey our kitchen is slammed and can I go ahead and offer you your sides, a bag of chips, or something while you wait for your lunch. I hope the get better staff, learn to ice the tea & discover that they are in the hospitality industry or that they are not cut our for the stress and pace of a small cafe and try another line of work. read more

We stopped by Park Row Market for a late lunch today. Menu was extensive with some nice choices for sandwiches. I opted for the Rueben with homemade dressing. It was very good. Neat decorations around the shop and the owner was extremely nice. Service was some of the best I've had in a long time. The owner and his wife both checked in on us to see if we needed anything amd how our food came out. Y'know, every place can have an off day. But this is the 2nd time I've had a marginal experience here. --Was told it would be 5 or 6 minutes to get my egg salad sandwich and scoop of chicken salad to go. It was 23 minutes between completing my order and when I was driving away. (Similar experience the first time.) --that 23 minutes *did* include me bringing the sandwich back into the restaurant (fortunately I took a look at it when I got to my car). I wish I had taken a photo of the sad little sandwich with the whisper of egg salad between the bread, and without the lettuce and tomato I had ordered. I'd estimate each half had about 1 tablespoon of egg salad on it. (Similar experience to first time -- which is why I checked the order when I got to my car). --the proprietor, to his credit, when I showed him the sandwich and asked, "does this look like a $6.50 sandwich to you?", immediately whisked it away to fix. He offered to remake the sandwich from scratch, but i had already spent an inordinate amount of time waiting, so I told him to just add some more egg salad, and the lettuce and tomato it was supposed to come with. --also to his credit, he gave me a business card with a $5 credit on it for next time. (If there is a next time, which I am wondering about.) --the re-made sandwich had an acceptable amount of egg salad on it (I still would not describe it as generous, however). --chicken salad was all right (obviously not home made, but it was ok) but the lettuce was colder than the chicken salad when I ate it, about 20 minutes later. Things I am wondering-- --Should I have ordered it to eat in, then immediately asked for it to go? Seems the eat-in folks who arrived after me, were getting their food while I waited. --Also hoping there is some weird temperature inversion / heat transfer to explain the lettuce being colder than the chicken salad. If their refrigerator is running warm, obviously that raises food safety questions. I really want to like this place. But they are making it difficult ! read more

Another good lunch at the Park Row Market. Had a wrap and a gussied up ham and cheese sandwich. Both really good. They came with tater salad. It was good as well. Most folks were called by name when they left. How nice to see so many friendly regulars. A lot of folks got the bbq sandwich. It looked good. I'm not from Edgefield, but I'm currently working in the area. This has become one of my favorite spots to grab lunch, and the other people in my office really like it too. I highly recommend the Nat sandwich, or the Mack attack wrap. Their interior is also very uniquely decorated, which makes for a great dining environment. Found this place while passing through town this week. Atmosphere was very homey, but fun with antiques and other retro decorations throughout. The menu had quite the variety for a sandwich shop! There were six people in our party and we all had something different: a Reuben, a chicken salad sandwich, a bbq panini, a "grown up" grilled cheese, a grilled chicken sandwich, and the special for that day (which was Black Forest ham on a pretzel roll). And everything was delicious! Service was phenomenal and the owner was incredibly welcoming and hospitable. Will definitely stop here again next time we are in the area! read more
