So I use to go here as a kid and it seems like nothings really changed since the last 10 years! It's a pretty small place, the decor is not that appealing, just very dull looking. I ordered the chicken parm with pasta. I really wanted spaghetti but the guy said it would take too long and gave me penne pasta instead. I was kinda bummed about that. I got it to go and they packed it in 2 separate containers, which made it annoying to eat it separate like that. The pasta tasted microwaved/reheated. But the chicken parm was actually really good! The guy at the register was really nice aswell. Service was quick probably because they weren't that busy, but beware, this is the goto spot for the high schoolers during the afternoon and after school hours so it can get pretty packed. But in the summer it's not that bad of a crowd. I'll probably eat here once in awhile but it didn't blow me away. read more

Just ordered dinner from this place and was sadly disappointed with the lack of understanding by the chef to what was on the order ticket. Ordered 2 chicken souvlaki platters with grilled chicken. Asked that there be no dressing on the food, but rather on the side, for dietary reasons. Asked for tzatziki sauce on the side, as well. The last order was for a chicken and pasta dish. That was the only thing that was correct. When we opened the dishes the chicken souvalaki platters had oil and vinegar all over it. They only sent one tzatziki sauce instead of one for each platter. Spending almost 50.00 in today's climate is not the problem. I The problem is, that for your money you should get what you asked for. I called and was given double talk by the person who answered, saying the chef must have made a mistake. I was told they could send another sauce and a replacement but then the owner got on the phone defending the order was correct....nothing was offered. Being unable to eat this drenched salad, and could only salvage the chicken from each. It is unfortunate that this business is so unwilling to see an error and try to correct it. The location was only one owner for more than 35 years but now this new ownership is just not doing right by the customers. Sadly, we will not return nor will many others. Thanks read more

Hi. I usually don't come on here to complain but I have to say this. Mario's pizzeria near the high school, on brower. I went there when I was in school and always would grab a bite before class. But I don't know if they are under new management or something but I think I should have went somewhere else. I got a chicken parmesan wrap, my friend got a eggplant parmagianni hero, and my sister got spaghetti with butter. When we got this it was just grease, oil, and I'm sorry but just disgusting. My sister's pasta it was spaghetti, and it was like floating in a sea of butter and oil. My friend's eggplant wasn't even cooked correctly and it was leaking grease. And my wrap was cold and the chicken wasn't all the way cooked and I know I don't know what's going on behind the scenes. But the food wasn't even cooked correct and it didn't even taste good. We only took two bites and after only a few hours, we are all sick. From sweating foreheads to throwing up to very dizzy headaches. I thought I was the only one but I read more comments and people have the same thing to say. I called and told them about my experience and how the food was greasy but they just hung up on me. Take out date: March 22, 2017 My aunt and uncle came over to my mom's house for dinner so after I had gotten to my Baldwin home after my mom watched my son during the work day my mom did her thing, dialed some digits and ordered Mario's for dinner. She got me the antipasto salad and they agreed to take out the salami to make it vegetarian. I loved this Salad. They didn't bulk it up with lettuce as some places do they put a fair amount of other veggies on it and they added a good amount of cheese which is good because cheese, eggs and tofu are my to go protein choices as a vegetarian. I can't talk about the pizza as I'm rarely eating pizza anymore but as far as salads this place is great! read more

I ordered via grubhub and was not disappointed! I ordered a regular pie and a side of fries. I made the request for buffalo sauce on the side which with other pizza places is a 50/50 request. First and last time ordering from this place. I ordered a Buffalo Chicken Pizza, which I've had from other pizzerias before by the slice and whole pie. I've never seen a pizza with such poor presentation and a blatant sign of apathy in preparation. It was a sloppy, dripping, soupy mess of excessive everything. The chicken was saturated and chewy, the cheese and whatever dressing or sauce they use was spilling over the crust. It literally looked like someone vomited on a pizza crust and it tasted very mediocre for the price. Not worth it. Unappetizing. Absolutely lazy, an embarrassment to Italian cuisine and NY pizza. There are a whole bunch of pizza joints in Oceanside. I grew up with Marios over the years, and I know some families who swear by it. I'm a Villa Formia boy (another Oceanside haunt), always have been, and I compare everything to their pizza. The Mario's pizza was a little too greasy for me. Maybe I caught it on a bad day, but there was just a teeeeeenie bit too much for me to really enjoy it. The chicken rolls are pretty fantastic, though I'm not a big fan of ricotta and you can definitely taste it. They're like glorified chicken parm sandwiches, just better and crustier. Worth trying out if you're passing by / in the neighborhood. No great shakes, in my opinion. read more

Its been close to 15 years since I graduated high school and I have not eaten at Marios since then, after my visit yesterday I know why. I went in with Two other friends and we order a calzone, chicken roll, and some pinwheels. The food was really greasy and lacked taste. I figured that was the end of that, boy was I wrong. Myself and both of my friends all got ill within 6 hours of eating there,I called Marios to tell them abut the situation and some guy says hell tell the boss and hangs up. Me and my friends went to Mario's pizza because it is close, but after going in I realized going further is worth it. We went in and I ordered a regular slice and they gave us an old slice from the back. The restaurant was very dirty. My friends said they hated their food, and other kids were sitting in next to us but the manager told them to leave because he needed to clean the tables. This has been the standby for any random take-out dinner night in the area. The pizza is good and the menu is actually pretty varied. One of the best gyros I've ever had came from Mario's. In high school, it was one of the few local restaurants you could get food from and make it back to class. I've stopped in here almost every year in December for the past 10 years. Really good thin crust, crispy pizza. Yes, it's oily. Use a napkin to sop it up. Love their spinach pizza. Big slices. Small place, often frequented by local kids. They used to make baseball sized zeppoles, but it seems they stopped making it this past December. I was never actually that crazy about them anyways. A slight renovation removed the storm door and increased the seating area slightly. I'll give it 5 stars when they renovate the unisex bathroom (It was clean, but it was essentially a broom closet) and if they put zeppoles back on the menu and offer to make them fresh to order. read more

Very bad experience tonight. We ordered a meat lover's deep dish pizza, as we get nearly every week. They delivered a regular pie. We told the delivery man it was wrong and he told us to keep the regular pie and he would bring back the meat lover's pizza we ordered. Got a phone call 15 or 20 minutes later from the pizzeria. The man told tried to tell us we were wrong even though 5 people heard the order repeated twice. Then he said we could get the meat lover's pie but had to return the regular pizza. Not only is that against the department of health code but 3 kids had been told they could have that pie and it was gone. So we paid for something we didn't receive and they tried to take back a pie 20 minutes after they left it at someone's house. Terrible service. As a former employee here, I will obviously have a biased opinion. I do love the food though, and would order from them regularly even when I wasn't working there. Mainly, though, the reason I decided to leave a review here, was because I read some other reviews about their online menu being disgraceful. Truth is, Mario, the owner, never made an online menu. A customer or someone took it upon themselves to make one for Mario's, and the menu is completely inaccurate with the prices and even some of the food currently on the actual menu.
