I've been eating pizza from Mario's for over 10 years, back when I was a student at St. Anthony's! They're always kind, reasonable, and reliable. So, I recently dined here with fellow STEP Team coaches and some current students. We decided to order a cheese pizza, pepperoni pizza, wings, garlic knots, and a chicken primavera. EVERYTHING was absolutely delicious. Not one person complained or left unsatisfied. I can't wait to come here again.

The food was mediocre! The pizza crust is doughy. I ordered veal parm and got spagetti without sauce! Their greak salad is great!

I got Cacio e Pepe and a side of zucchini ribbons with garlic & oil. The pasta was good but bucatini is not my fav because it is hard to eat. It was cooked perfectly, not too soft. The zucchini was really good, I'd go back for that alone! My friend got a Caesar salad and chicken franchise, he finished every bit so im assuming it was good. Surprisingly the back of the menu was sushi! Maybe I will try it next time but I'm not sure if I can stay away from the zucchini! If you are wanting classic Italian, definitely check this place out, they definitely do it right! Sorry, no pics, I'll take them next time!

I usually don't see garlic knots in bread baskets so I definitely had to try one and it was a little dry. The drink menu listed a spicy lychee martini but I prefer a regular one which they were able to do. The menu has so many great options that it took us a while to decide what we wanted to eat. We ordered 3 appetizers: Roasted Cauliflower, Eggplant Stack Alla Cirella's, and Meatballs. The roasted cauliflower was a huge head of cauliflower and flavored with lemon, garlic, breadcrumbs and had tomatoes on the side. The meatballs were big and tasted very good. I don't usually like eggplant so I didn't partake in the Eggplant Stack Alla Cirella's, but my coworkers enjoyed the crispy eggplant layered with fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, tomato, roasted red pepper drizzled with warm balsamic glaze. I got the Capellini Pescatore as my entree. Fresh parmesan was grated and served on top. The dish had pasta with shrimp, scallops, sundried tomato, pancetta, and vodka sauce. First off, the portion was huge! I was imagining sea scallops, but it was bay scallops so smaller scallops. It was delicious and I enjoyed every single bite. I even had leftovers to take home. Diane was our server and she was so friendly. She offered her recommendations and when my coworkers wanted to modify their dish, it was no problem. The restaurant was full around 6:00pm. We had such a wonderful time together and the food was amazing. Looking forward to the next time I go to Cirella's.

Subject: Disappointing Experience at Vespa - Saturday, August 8th…read moreDear Vespa Management Team, I am writing to share my deep disappointment regarding my dinner at Vespa Italian Kitchen & Bar on Saturday, August 8th. I frequently travel 20 miles to dine in Farmingdale specifically for a premium culinary experience, but this visit ensures that Vespa is no longer a destination restaurant for me. For our table, I ordered two orders of your signature "Clams Vespa" appetizer. According to your menu, this dish features baked little neck or top neck clams. Instead, we were served tiny, cockle-sized clams that were severely overcooked. They were so badly burnt that it was entirely impossible to extract any clam meat from the shells because it was stuck completely. When I raised this issue with our waitress, she brought back a single replacement plate. While this second plate of tiny clams was prepared correctly and tasted delicious because they weren't burnt, it only resolved half of the issue. When I brought up the bill discrepancy to my server, she stated she would hand it to the manager. However, after waiting 15 minutes with no resolution, I was forced to get up, approach the manager myself, and state that I wanted to leave. Only then did the manager expedite the bill correction and take one order of clams off my tab. Between dealing with unannounced substitutions, poor kitchen quality control, and a frustratingly slow service recovery process, the evening was highly disappointing. Combined with an aggressive parking citation issued on Main Street during our meal, the entire 40-mile round trip felt like a complete waste of time and money. I expected much higher quality control and efficiency from a restaurant of your reputation. I hope you address these kitchen execution and front-of-house communication issues so that other long-distance diners are not subjected to the same experience.

We ordered meatballs and fried calamari as appetizers. There were four meatballs in a sweet marinara sauce - very tasty. The calamari were very good as well. As an entree, I ordered the tagliatelle Bolognese. The tagliatelle were made on site and the sauce was fresh. For desert my wife and I shared a lava cake with a scoop of chocolate gelato. The desert was excellent, but the rainbow cheesecake my son ordered was phenomenal. There is no parking lot dedicated to the restaurant, however, there is a parking garage nearby and the first three hours are free. We went mid-week, I cannot guarantee that the free, three hour parking extends to the weekend. Price to serving is good, I was hungry and had a difficult time finishing the entire entree. The only downside was the cappuccino was awful. It could be that my cappuccino was decaffeinated because the one ordered by my daughter and wife were just fine. As soon as we sat down they brought over a bread basket with hot & delicious garlic knots along with Tuscan bread & olive oil. I've found that over my many years of dining, that restaurants that serve a great bread basket always follow it up with great food, and this was true with Joanina. The restaurant has a nice selection of wines, and we ordered 2 glasses of a light, crisp and refreshing Gavi from the Piemonte region in Italy. For appetizer, we shared thinly sliced baked eggplant covered with ricotta salata & a sublime pomodoro basil sauce. The dish was absolutely delicious, but unfortunately I couldn't wait to dig my fork into it, and forgot to take a picture. For entrees I ordered a cavatelli bolognese. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, and the meat sauce has the authenticity of any pasta you would taste in Italy. My wife ordered, for her entree, pollo con carciofi. This was tender chicken breast piled high with artichoke hearts, Parma prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, & white wine & lemon francese sauce. The side dish were a bunch of farm fresh vegetables. My wife was blown away as to how delicious this dish was. For dessert we shared a scrumptious and creamy toasted coconut tiramisu. Service throughout our dinner was outstanding, with special accolades to our server Amy ( I hope I got her name correct). She was very knowledgeable, and made a couple of outstanding recommendations. As previous reviews mention, the inside is decorated to look like you're on a patio in Tuscany. It's deceptively large inside, and we sat all the way at the back around the corner. The waitstaff were very efficient and pleasant, giving my boyfriend and I time to look over the menu but coming soon after we'd set them down on the table. After some complimentary bread and very tasty garlic knots, we started with one of their appetizer specials to share, and were very pleased with it. It had fresh grilled Italian sausage served over garlicky cannellini beans and broccolini. Everything was balanced and well prepared. For our dinner we both got pasta; I got the butternut squash agnolotti (de zucca) with butter and sage, and he got the ricotta cavatelli bolognese. The bolognese was delicious, but I felt like the squash agnolotti needed something else to make it a proper dinner. The filling is just squash puree, no cheese, and the melted butter sauce is very very decadent. I would get something a bit more filling next time, but other than that I enjoyed my meal and our experience!

Our server confirmed that they were indeed sister restaurants under the same umbrella. We started with the charred Octopus. It had a unique presentation served with delicious fennel and some citrus fruits. Very well prepared. For entrees we had the sea bass special which was lovely. Also the bone in ribeye was well seasoned and a perfect medium temperature. For dessert, we were thoroughly pleased with the vanilla bean cheesecake and strawberries. I sprinkled some grated Parmesan cheese and fresh ground black pepper on top, and the flavors melded beautifully. I enjoyed a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon with my meal: Primitivo Di Manduria, Carlo Sani 'Oro' Riserva, Puglia.
