This small hole in the wall is easy to overlook on the intersection of Sherman Way & Kester. But it has turned out to be one of our favorite go to Mexican joints. All the seafood we have tried has been superb and extremely fresh: Ceviche, Fish Tacos, Aguachiles and Mojarra. I can easily recommend anything off the seafood menu. Secret: everything on the "turf" side of the menu is just as good!! We've had various tacos and tortas, breakfast plates and burritos and they've all been great. I work around the corner and was craving some Mexican Seafood aka Mariscos and discovered this spot. After ordering and sitting down I dived into the complimentary chips & salsa they brought to the table. Fresh Salsa tells you a lot about a restaurant and the freshness to this salsa was pure perfection. Even the guy at the table next to me commented on how fresh the salsa was and no preservatives. Out comes my lunch: Mexican Seafood Cocktail with Shrimp, Octopus & Oysters, definitely hit the spot, was so good that they earned a regular customer to enjoy this amazing food. I had a really nice experience here. The staff was so incredibly friendly. We got the pulpo tostada which was very soft and tender as well as the ceviche and aguachile. That was spicy and refreshing. I highly recommend you give their seafood a try. It was one of the best I've had and for it to be in valley where good mariscos is pretty hard to hard to find is just . Make sure you come in when you can take your time because they had a full house on a Sunday afternoon and everything is made to order. This spot is a hidden gem, and after 5 years of living in my home just down the street, I'm sorry I didn't come to this place sooner! The first time I ordered from here it was delivery. I had read that they're known for their authentic seafood but I opted in getting a classic burrito instead. That alone took me by surprise at how delicious their meats are too. Salsa verde was on point and tasted to me like homemade. I knew I was coming back again. The second time, I opted to pickup my order instead. And after a mishap of running into Soccoro's across the street thinking it was Mariscos Corona (sorry Soccoro's), I finally made it in after finding some ample parking in the small lot. The young lady at the counter was super friendly and inviting, the socially distant way they had setup worked great, and even the chef came out to say hello as he walked past to get back to the grill. With some music and a TV novela playing on the screen, the place seemed lively and there was a steady line of customers coming in at a time. As soon as I got home, I devoured the tacos and aquachiles and was in awe. 10/10 if I can give this place a higher score! The service is horrible. Put my name down to get seated and 30 mins later come inside after they said they'd call me to see they've sat everyone in front of us. Had to keep asking for things flagging the waitresses down and had to finally bring my check up myself because I had already been there for too long. I have been driving by this place for years and wish I had stopped earlier. During COVID they are take-out only, but are very clean, offer a new pen to every person to sign, enforce distance rules while you pick up, etc. As for the food WOW. I have been back a few times in the last month: shrimp tacos are perfect and I am working my way through the different Cevice dishes and have yet to be disappointed. In LA, there's a lot of authentic Mexican food but Mariscos Corona stands out from the rest. It's a family owned restaurant dishing out some of the freshest mariscos I've had. Highly recommend the shrimp cocktail (the shrimp are huge) and ceviche. My friend is a burrito fanatic and the one who told me about this place. She recommended getting the "Tierra y Mar" burrito which is a meat and seafood burrito. Saw a video of it on their Instagram and looked super delicious. I could simply understand they could be very busy on Mother's Day but the service was the worst I've seen in a long long time. I will start with, my party waiting 1 HOUR to be seated, but that's totally understandable because of the holiday... What is NOT, is how they seat people. We had a party waiting behind mine, with the same amount of people (4), with no waitlist, no reservations the waitress sat them before us. After they sat this party we waited at least 20 minutes to be seated. Our waitress, was nice at first and also she was busy. She took our order, and for a period of 1 hour only came to the table because we asked her for extra chips. She let us know 'food was coming' and we waited 10 minutes on top of the 2 hours, only brought my mom's Shrimp Tacos and my Fajitas Mixtas. Not gonna lie, first impression THE FAJITAS MEAT WERE NOT EVEN STEAMING A LITTLE, the 3rd plate wasn't even coming which was the Mojarra. I touched the meat and veggies of my plate and everything it was cold except for the fries. I let her know my concern with my plate, and her answer was 'the cooks just gave me the food, but let me talk to them' I felt she thought I was lying but when you order Fajitas you expect the plate to be sizzling but it wasn't. She went to the kitchen and didn't take my plate at all, I was expecting a manager or at least an apology but didn't happen. When she came back to the table after 5 minutes, she asked me to give her the plate back, and let us know they ran out of 'Mexican Rice' and we needed to wait at least 15 more minutes, my mom at this point was DONE eating, my tortillas were cold and she took my plate back to the kitchen and within 5 minutes they brought the fajitas, they were warm, not even how they needed to be. At the same time she brought the Mojarra which was DELICIOUS btw, but I don't think it was worth it almost a 2 hours and 30 minutes wait. I don't know also if our waitress was embarrassed but since the food was served in the table she never came to check on us, only after we finished eating on different times. Clearly the restaurant was under staff and there were a non-stopping people coming to pick up to go orders. They weren't ready for the demand today. I was super excited because people told me this restaurant was amazing and the food was beyond delicious but after this experience unfortunately I'm not coming back... and after all the feedback we had with the waitress about our experience and not getting at least discount (which is not obligatory) was the saddest part. Drove to pick up an order and it was wrong. The receipt wasn't clear enough to show my order correctly. I called the restaurant to help find a resolution for the mistake to which the woman just tells me what I ordered vs what I got. I explain that I wanted 4, she insists that I wanted two tostadas. As a customer, if I'm telling you what I wanted vs what your heard, why aren't you taking responsibility for your error? Best Mexican hole in the wall in the valley. My daughter suggesting this place. She and her boyfriend go here for good inexpensive food. My palate is quite different, but I decided to give it a go. She did good! The carne asada is actually lean and of decent quality. I hate when the meat has chunks of fat in in. The guacamole was fresh as well. The chili sauce is yummy. I'm excited to have found authentic Mexican food that is also fresh and of quality. However, the service was not super friendly and no chips were offered as I waited. That's ok.
