Papusas so fire, we had to take them home.

Jorge (the owner) was an absolute delight! Made us feel at home and took great care into our experience. We will definitely be back for happy hour Results and bean and cheese papusas were amazing!! Thank you Jorge!! See you soon!

The atmosphere and ambiance is great. Think of it like Kalaveras but not overpriced. The fusion between Mexican and Salvador cuisine is amazing. The drinks had a kick too it and a great presentation overall. This whole in the wall deserves more recognition.

Disappointed and Underwhelmed - Not the "Sabor" I Expected First and foremost, based on the hype and social media presence, I had high expectations walking into Sabor Mexican Restaurant in Van Nuys. Sadly, expectations quickly turned into disappointment. Let's start with the positives: the decor is beautiful. The murals, the black floors and tables, the lighting, the layout of the bar, and the TVs throughout the space all give off a trendy, polished vibe. The physical space had promise -- unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. Now to the real experience -- the service and food: As soon as we walked in, the hostess was more engaged with her phone than with us. No greeting, no warmth, no direction. We ended up seating ourselves. I asked for a high chair for my toddler -- rather than helping, she casually pointed in the direction, expecting us to grab it ourselves. That already set the tone. We weren't offered water. My menu was sticky and greasy. I asked for a "Sabrosita" (the flight of margaritas shown on their own menu and Instagram). The server seemed confused and had no idea what I was talking about. When she brought one tiny margarita, I asked about the rest of the flight, and she claimed that was the whole thing -- for $20! I questioned her because the pricing and presentation clearly didn't add up. A full-sized flavored margarita is $8-$11, so why would one mini cup cost nearly double? The back-and-forth was frustrating. I finally gave up and just asked for a regular-sized drink. Apparently, at Sabor, the customer isn't always right. We ordered guacamole that could have been excellent -- but someone in the kitchen decided to drown it in salt. It was almost inedible. Our entrees? Chicken fajitas and steak & eggs with rice, beans, plantains. Let's break it down: * Rice was undercooked. * Beans were bland and tasted like they were straight from a can. * Meat was dry and lacked flavor or care in preparation. The restaurant was basically empty (just one other table), yet we weren't checked on once during our entire meal. No offer of more napkins, water, or "how's everything going?" - especially important when you have a child dining with you. To make things worse, it took effort just to flag someone down for the bill, and even then, no thank you, no goodbye, no basic decency. Overall Thoughts & Recommendations: Sabor needs to seriously invest in customer service training, better quality control in the kitchen, and more attentive management. Hospitality is just as important as ambiance -- and right now, the soul is missing. Here's what I suggest if this restaurant wants to live up to its name and reputation: * Train staff to greet guests warmly and proactively assist with seating, high chairs, and water -- the bare minimum. * Educate servers on the menu. Don't advertise items you're not prepared to serve or explain. * Re-evaluate pricing and presentation of specialty drinks like the Sabrosita -- and honor what's on your menu. * Taste your food before sending it out. Balance your seasoning and ensure basics like rice and beans are properly prepared. * Improve guest check-ins and table attention, even when the place is slow. Especially when families with young kids are dining. * Clean your menus and create an overall more professional, thoughtful experience. Unfortunately, this visit left a bad taste -- and not from the seasoning. With better leadership and a stronger commitment to hospitality, Sabor could become something special. But until then, I can't recommend it.

The food here was spectacular! I had the Enchiladas de Mole, and the sauce was amazing - chocolatey, rich, and just a little spicy. The guacamole was fresh and creamy. The pupusas were fresh and fluffy. The yuca was some of the best I've ever had at a restaurant. And the Passion Fruit Margarita perfect. The service was also wonderful; our server was super sweet and clued us in to the happy hour specials. The place itself is also beautiful, with fun colorful murals on the wall. I will absolutely be coming back!

Food was really good! service was great. Chips and guac were amazing and margaritas were amazing as well. Will come back here again!

As a runner, that was such a fun and personal touch. From the run to the party, everything was perfect. Thanks to my sister and man for celebrating me like this! Afterward, we headed to Best Ball where we ate, drank, laughed, and spent a couple of hours having a great time. The food was really good, the drinks were flowing, and the atmosphere was fun without feeling overcrowded. There's a full bar and a large restaurant area with plenty of seating, so it was easy for everyone to hang out together. The service here is amazing they took care of us and we had a DJ and a photo booth outside to make it more festive! The babe even brought the cake over the day before and they were so great at keeping it. Whether you're there to golf, celebrate, or just spend time with friends, this place is a great spot. My favorite people, lots of laughs, good food, and a surprise birthday I'll never forget. What more could I ask for? We run here in the dark, daytime and evenings and pass this restaurant all the time we will be coming here more often. Lots of parking out in the front. Highly recommend for birthdays or any excuse to get a group together!

It's says a lot when you walk in and they know exactly what you want. Either I'm here too much or they know their regulars. It's a great way to unwind and just chill after a day of work or whatever. The golfers are all friendly as well. They're all here for the same reason. They use to have trivia night but I'm not sure if that still exists. Regardless, it's alway a great place. The roar that erupted throughout the restaurant was so powerful it literally made everyone jump to their feet. You didn't have a choice--it was pure emotion. It reminded me of the kind of celebration you'd experience if you were sitting courtside when the Knicks clinched a championship. The sound, the excitement, and the unity of everyone chanting "USA! It is a small bar with about 15 or so machines. 80% are from the last 7 or so years and one of the few places you will find Jersey Jack machines. There will also be a few 80s/90s machines and ocasionally one from the 70s/60s. All of the machines are SUPER well maintained and they rotate machines in and out every few weeks. Another bonus is allmost all of the machines are only .50 to play (the Jersey Jack machines though are .75) and give out free games on matches fairly often. The replay by score, though, is often really high (but most likely that is because most that come here are fairly good players). The modern Stern machines are also connected as well if you have your QR code and they post high scores on the TV on the wall. In the front of the resturant is another 10 or so machines as well (but it gets loud there as it is the waiting area for people that will be getting KBBQ). I haven't actually drank or ate here yet. One of these days I will. I also see it says 5PM (maybe that is just when the bar officially oppens) but the room is open when the resturant opens so you can play in the afternoon before the evening rush.

Also, it's somewhat seems to be a thing where you have to ask for the happy hour menus. Anyways, their items are pretty decent for prices. Drinks specials and some of the food items are worth it. We alway get a pitcher of beer for the table to share. Food wise, a couple of the ceviche. Either fish or shrimp and that's served with a tostada chip. For 12.00, it's pretty decent in size and quite tasty. Between the fish or shrimp, I prefer shrimp better. Also, two street tacos for 5.00 with many choices of protein. Lastly, the loaded fried nachos for 12.00. Let's say when they mean loaded, it was loaded. That too comes with your choice of protein which I went with the al pastor. The food was great. Before it would alway be the bean dips and you would have to ask for the salsa. If you want fresh guacamole, they have someone that will prepare it table side to your liking.
