Casual spot for Mexican food, but the burritos were too salty. I came by because it's close to the Van Nuys bus terminal. It was very convenient to grab a quick meal here before picking someone up at the bus terminal. It wasn't crowded at all on a Monday evening around 7 pm when my friend and I arrived. I ordered a battered fish taco ($4.69) and a Costa Grande burrito with carne asada ($13.69). The fish taco with fried perfectly, but I did find it a bit on the bland side even with the aioli. The burrito was okay, but I found it extremely salty and had trouble eating it because of that. Also, it was a spicier than expected. Portions were big at least, I ate about 2/3 of the burrito and took the remaining 1/3 home. My friend got the veggie burrito ($13.69) and enjoyed it, but he also agreed that it was super salty.

Saw the high reviews and was excited to try, but this place fell short of our expectations. We got several of the shrimp and fish tacos, and the tacos themselves are quite large and unwieldy. I don't think the shrimp or fish tacos were particularly well done relative to other places, the battered fish and shrimp were definitely disappointing to me. We went in about an hour before closing and they said they were takeout only, so we ended up eating in the car which I thought was a bummer.

This place is legit, I came here with my wife a few years back. It was so memorable that we bookmarked it, and now we're back living nearby again. It's the go to spot for Mexican food and their costa grande style tacos were so delicious! The wet burrito is massive and ended up being a 2nd meal for my wife. Everything was super fresh and portions sre are really good. Not stuffed with a lot of fillers like most places. See you soon Costa Grande!

I'm coming back but it's not a 4star. Why? I'm a chilaquiles snob. They didn't ask how I wanted my egg and they made my egg huevo en torta (not usually a fan). They did ask me green or red sauce.the green sauce that I chose was on the sour side. To sour for that type of egg in my opinion. The tortillas in the chilaquiles were soggy. I like them crispy. BUT. THE INGREDIENTS THEMSELVES ARE GOOD. The red sauce is tasty and a perfect spicy! (On the hotter end), and their beans , rice and table chips on the side are good! AND THE ASADA, omg. their asada is fyeee. The horchata was decent as well. Do you see my dilemma? The things I'm coming back for: THE ASADA AND THE FISH BATTERED TACO CASA GRANDE STYLE. The fish battered WAS PERFECT. the slaw and tortilla that came with it were mid. BUT I AM COMING BACK TO EAT THAT PERFECT BATTERED FISH TACO NO TORTILLA hahaha. The chipotle sauce one was ok. But the texture, fluffy, crispy ratio was heavenly.

I was looking for a Mexican Restaurant that I haven't tried around my job. So I asked a few people and they referred me to this hidden place.

I had been wanting to try this place after reading the reviews. It's not easy to find but I made sure to zero in on my GPS map to find the exact location without getting lost. We ordered a Baja fish taco/grilled shrimp taco combo & a carne asada/chicken taco combo. Both came with rice and refried beans. (I would have preferred black beans but it wasn't an option) They were both good. *The prices need to be updated online since they didn't match when we ordered. *It's off of Sepulveda just south of Sherman Way across from CVS in a strip mall just behind McDonald's. *Free parking in the lot

I love this place. The food is great and the service is excellent. Their fish tacos are huge and delicious! My favorite is the Carne Asada Quesadilla! So much cheese and the meat is well seasoned! 5

Absolutely bonkers asada fries if I could just write wow and that be it I would. We ordered our fries to go drooled the whole way home smelling it opened them up and they were still piping hot. These were some of the best asada fries I've had in my entire life. Get the fries the rest of there food looks and smells amazing and if it's near as amazing as the fries go for it I had a mission to accomplish that day to get the best asada fries I could find and I found them.

We wanted to stop by a taco place before hitting LA and found this hidden gem on yelp. I'd totally go back to try more! Food (5/5): If you eat in (also maybe takeout), they give you warm chips and salsa. I got the grilled shrimp taco and it was delicious. I wasn't terribly hungry so one taco was good enough. My boyfriend got three tacos as he was hungry and it filled him up. He agreed that the shrimp taco out of the three he got was the best. Ambiance (4/5): They have two TVs, which were both playing American football and there were many tables, but we were the only ones there so we got the whole restaurant to ourselves. The bathroom was relatively clean. Service (5/5): The staff was friendly and quick. We got our food within 10 minutes of ordering. Parking: Weird lot but plenty of spots as they share the parking lot with a laundromat and a few other businesses.

Surf and turf California burrito was excellent. Fresh shrimp and asada. Generous with the asada, not too many fries. $19 after tax but it large and came with complimentary chips and salsa. Great flavor. Inside was clean, workers were friendly, got my food super quick

Food tastes delicious. Very large portions. My burrito was more than 1 pound. My only issue was that there was very little meat and few pieces of shrimp. Otherwise it was delicious. Even their sauces were yummy tasting.

Hungry after a 12 hour shift and this place slaps as a late night meal. Got the shrimp and carne super fries, Cali Shrimp Taco and Elote. They have a very generous portion of fries, shrimp in both taco and fries were grilled well and super juicy. Carne was also juicy and not dry at all. Overall, so glad I discovered this hidden gem in the valley last minute. It was sort of hard to find but definitely worth it!!

I recently tried out El Cocinero's food at an event that they catered to. As a person who eats meat and is not restricted, I would come here for the good food. The vegan al pastor had chunks of pineapple and it is seasoned and cooked to taste just like the meat version. The texture is just a little bit different but it does resemble a lot like meat. The vegan pastor also tastes just like the meat version, just less "smoky" and the texture is softer. The rice is flavorful and fluffy. The beans are seasoned just enough to have flavor but not compete with the other dishes. The creamy chipotle sauce was perfect topping the rice and beans. I do like vegan food but the only reference I had with Mexican vegan are places that try to add fake cheese and lean heavily on beans and rice. This business shows that you can still have all the flavors and not rely on cheese and meat. They focus on the flavors and not what would make non-vegans feel comfortable. Initially, I was going to give this first time experience a 4 star review so that it encourages me to go check out the restaurant so I can add the service and the ambiance. However, I was lucky enough to bring home leftovers and as I was eating it, the food tastes better. Had to add the extra star!

This place had everything you'd need and tastes so good for a vegan spot. You would be able to fool me and tell me this is actual meat and I'd believe it. That's how good it was! I got the quesadilla (half asada, half al pastor) omg that was the best thing I have ever had. The cheese melts and pulls just like regular Cheese. The meat was so juicy and good flavor. I'd get it again and again But I'd probably try the tacos next time along with the quesadilla tbh. I also got the flan which was tbh less sweeter than a regular flan. But hey I still loved it, I don't complain about it. It was still delicious. (Funny incident, I ordered the flan at the front and paid for it.i wasn't told anything else by the guy at the register. SoThen went back to the table and Waited and waited and waited for a good 20 minutes, till I asked about it and was told that I can just grab it out of the refrigerator!!!! Smh, as much as I was upset as much as I for some reason just found it funny. So don't do the same mistake I did and just go grab it right after you pay for it.) Overall, I loved everything and all the things about this place. Nice seating areas, nice environment , helpful workers, convenient parking! And most importantly, delicious food. Definitely be visiting this place again!
