    Costa Grande Style Fish Tacos
    Peter C.

Still the go to fish taco spot around! I alternate between the Baja and Costa Grande style depending on how I'm feeling. Baja has a nice chipotle aioli while the costa grande uses a tarter slaw. The fish is always nicely battered with a solid crunch. It doesn't feel greasy like other spots and the fish is a good size. My wife usually gets their costa grande burrito wet with red sauce. The burrito is massive, easily double the size of a normal burrito. The red sauce has a good kick to it and the asada has good flavor. Another bonus is that they always give you fresh chips with each meal and plenty of salsa. Workers are always super nice and friendly. Truly a gem of a place in the valley.

Casual spot for Mexican food, but the burritos were too salty. I came by because it's close to the Van Nuys bus terminal. It was very convenient to grab a quick meal here before picking someone up at the bus terminal. It wasn't crowded at all on a Monday evening around 7 pm when my friend and I arrived. I ordered a battered fish taco ($4.69) and a Costa Grande burrito with carne asada ($13.69). The fish taco with fried perfectly, but I did find it a bit on the bland side even with the aioli. The burrito was okay, but I found it extremely salty and had trouble eating it because of that. Also, it was a spicier than expected. Portions were big at least, I ate about 2/3 of the burrito and took the remaining 1/3 home. My friend got the veggie burrito ($13.69) and enjoyed it, but he also agreed that it was super salty.

Saw the high reviews and was excited to try, but this place fell short of our expectations. We got several of the shrimp and fish tacos, and the tacos themselves are quite large and unwieldy. I don't think the shrimp or fish tacos were particularly well done relative to other places, the battered fish and shrimp were definitely disappointing to me. We went in about an hour before closing and they said they were takeout only, so we ended up eating in the car which I thought was a bummer.

I'm coming back but it's not a 4star. Why? I'm a chilaquiles snob. They didn't ask how I wanted my egg and they made my egg huevo en torta (not usually a fan). They did ask me green or red sauce.the green sauce that I chose was on the sour side. To sour for that type of egg in my opinion. The tortillas in the chilaquiles were soggy. I like them crispy. BUT. THE INGREDIENTS THEMSELVES ARE GOOD. The red sauce is tasty and a perfect spicy! (On the hotter end), and their beans , rice and table chips on the side are good! AND THE ASADA, omg. their asada is fyeee. The horchata was decent as well. Do you see my dilemma? The things I'm coming back for: THE ASADA AND THE FISH BATTERED TACO CASA GRANDE STYLE. The fish battered WAS PERFECT. the slaw and tortilla that came with it were mid. BUT I AM COMING BACK TO EAT THAT PERFECT BATTERED FISH TACO NO TORTILLA hahaha. The chipotle sauce one was ok. But the texture, fluffy, crispy ratio was heavenly.

I was looking for a Mexican Restaurant that I haven't tried around my job. So I asked a few people and they referred me to this hidden place.

I had been wanting to try this place after reading the reviews. It's not easy to find but I made sure to zero in on my GPS map to find the exact location without getting lost. We ordered a Baja fish taco/grilled shrimp taco combo & a carne asada/chicken taco combo. Both came with rice and refried beans. (I would have preferred black beans but it wasn't an option) They were both good. *The prices need to be updated online since they didn't match when we ordered. *It's off of Sepulveda just south of Sherman Way across from CVS in a strip mall just behind McDonald's. *Free parking in the lot

Absolutely bonkers asada fries if I could just write wow and that be it I would. We ordered our fries to go drooled the whole way home smelling it opened them up and they were still piping hot. These were some of the best asada fries I've had in my entire life. Get the fries the rest of there food looks and smells amazing and if it's near as amazing as the fries go for it I had a mission to accomplish that day to get the best asada fries I could find and I found them.

We wanted to stop by a taco place before hitting LA and found this hidden gem on yelp. I'd totally go back to try more! Food (5/5): If you eat in (also maybe takeout), they give you warm chips and salsa. I got the grilled shrimp taco and it was delicious. I wasn't terribly hungry so one taco was good enough. My boyfriend got three tacos as he was hungry and it filled him up. He agreed that the shrimp taco out of the three he got was the best. Ambiance (4/5): They have two TVs, which were both playing American football and there were many tables, but we were the only ones there so we got the whole restaurant to ourselves. The bathroom was relatively clean. Service (5/5): The staff was friendly and quick. We got our food within 10 minutes of ordering. Parking: Weird lot but plenty of spots as they share the parking lot with a laundromat and a few other businesses.

I love this place. The food is great and the service is excellent. Their fish tacos are huge and delicious! My favorite is the Carne Asada Quesadilla! So much cheese and the meat is well seasoned! 5

Surf and turf California burrito was excellent. Fresh shrimp and asada. Generous with the asada, not too many fries. $19 after tax but it large and came with complimentary chips and salsa. Great flavor. Inside was clean, workers were friendly, got my food super quick

I recently tried out El Cocinero's food at an event that they catered to. As a person who eats meat and is not restricted, I would come here for the good food. The vegan al pastor had chunks of pineapple and it is seasoned and cooked to taste just like the meat version. The texture is just a little bit different but it does resemble a lot like meat. The vegan pastor also tastes just like the meat version, just less "smoky" and the texture is softer. The rice is flavorful and fluffy. The beans are seasoned just enough to have flavor but not compete with the other dishes. The creamy chipotle sauce was perfect topping the rice and beans. I do like vegan food but the only reference I had with Mexican vegan are places that try to add fake cheese and lean heavily on beans and rice. This business shows that you can still have all the flavors and not rely on cheese and meat. They focus on the flavors and not what would make non-vegans feel comfortable. Initially, I was going to give this first time experience a 4 star review so that it encourages me to go check out the restaurant so I can add the service and the ambiance. However, I was lucky enough to bring home leftovers and as I was eating it, the food tastes better. Had to add the extra star!

Despite it being a busy spot, we were seated right away, which is a huge plus when you have little ones in tow! The Drinks & Starters We started with the Horchata and the Pineapple Water (Agua de Piña). Both were refreshing, authentic, and clearly made with care. If you like traditional Mexican drinks, these are a must-try. The Food Everything we ordered was packed with flavor and felt incredibly fresh. A standout for us was the homemade corn tortillas--you can really taste the difference! Our table shared: * Mojarra & Pescado al Mojo de Ajo: Perfectly cooked and seasoned. * Lobster Plate: Succulent and generous. * Surf & Turf Tacos: These were a highlight! Loaded with carne asada and creamy guacamole, then topped with perfectly grilled shrimp. Each plate comes with rice, beans, and a side salad, but they are super flexible--we were able to substitute fries for the rice and beans on some plates, which is great for picky eaters or just a change of pace. Service & Atmosphere The restaurant is tucked away in a shopping center, so parking was easy to find, which takes the stress out of the arrival. Even though the dining room was buzzing and busy, our waitress was incredibly nice and the entire staff was well-attended to our needs. Bottom line: If you're looking for delicious, flavorful seafood in a family-friendly environment, Marisco Corona is the place to go. We will definitely be back!

I made a reservation through Yelp a couple days beforehand and there was plenty of availability. The restaurant is located right off Ventura Blvd and has an attached parking garage in the basement which can be accessed via the parking lot behind the restaurant. There were plenty of spots available Sunday afternoon when I came. It's a bit hidden, but there is an elevator from the garage to the top level where the restaurant is located as well. We had two babies in strollers with us, so I requested a table with plenty of space nearby for the strollers. They seated us outside on their covered patio, and indeed, we had plenty of space. I peeked inside and there's also a nice lounge area with a beautiful flower wall as well as a proper dining area. When we arrived, there was a live DJ spinning tunes. I assume he's there during brunch hours, as he left around 3 pm when brunch ended. I started with a frozen lime margarita ($12). It was okay; it felt like it was only half frozen as the ice wasn't blended that well. For my main, I got the famous Anejo carne asada and shrimp plate for $40. Yes it was pricy, but the portion size was also huge! I was starving and somehow managed to finish the plate, but it'd be a great dish to share for two people with small appetites. I hope that they could make the virtual menu a little easier to look at since i think they might be phasing out their physical menus. While we waited on our order we were given delicious chips and spicy bean dip which were excellent. So delicious. For salsa we were directed to the salsa bar. While I think the bar is cool, the tiny cups to get salsa are too small. I would have liked the bean dip sized bowl to get enough, instead of having to get several tiny cups which are hard to scoop from with the chips. I orderd the #7 which was a cheese enchilada, a crunchy beef taco, and rice and beans. My friends ordered two different taquitos plates, one orderd a fajitas plate, and the youngest got cheese quesedilla. Every single bite was bursting with bright, vibrant flavors that remind me why I love the Valley's food scene so much. As a chile relleno connoisseur I'm glad they didn't ruin my favor didn't dish. We will definitely be back.

We have not, but the gentleman helping us asked if we had any questions on the menu and continued to recommend some items. The Birria Plate compliments well with a side of consomé. Dip all the tacos into this amazing concoction and it's a party in your mouth. I can't recommend this enough! I wish we got the name of the cashier/server. He was great and kept checking in on us. The food came out quickly too. We will definitely be adding this place to our rotation.
