We tore through this before I could take a pic! This place is the best mariscos place I've ever had!!! The filets relleno was the best thing I've ever tried!!!

On our way to a concert we were looking for some mariscos to eat and we found this place Mariscos El Governador The service is great and our server was really attentive The ambience is just like any other marisco place, music that is not for me but it has its niche Food is great and delicious I would definitely going back to try more of their menu

Good food and overall experience, would recommend. I found out about Mariscos El Governador through Instagram and the food looked both tasty and fresh. My family came on a weeknight and were quickly seated. The waitress who assisted was also helpful and gave thoughtful recommendations as we asked about the menu. We ordered the empanadas de camaron, the tostada embarazada, shrimp cocktail, tacos, and some drinks. All of the food had good flavor and well presented. The tostada embarazada was packed with crab, shrimp, and octopus. The shrimp empanadas also had good flavor, only negative was that with the filling two of the empanadas were a little soggy. I've heard good things about the aguachiles and plan on trying that next. We also got a michelada and margaritas, all of the drinks were good. I especially liked the like margarita, but do want to note their margaritas are served over ice and are not blended. There's a good amount of seating and parking was easy. I would definitely come back if I'm in the area.

If you looking for a great Mexican meal...this is the place. Man their food is a 10/10. This place is Californias hidden gem for sure. Food is so fresh and delicious. I'll definitely will be coming back. Even if you want just a snack come here for a great meal. Made me smile for sure. Beautiful and very clean spot for sure.

La comida estuve excelente. Mi esposa pidió un cóctel de camarón que estaba delicioso. Yo pido el filete zarandeado también delicioso. Las tortillas echas a mano. Definitivamente volvería a este lugar.

Cute restaurant; basically a hole in the wall. Clean, waitress was very friendly and spoke Spanish of course. The area can be kind of sketchy once it's dark but parking is right in front of the restaurant so you should be ok. The food tasted authentic and was not overly priced!

Molcajete was a bit disappointing, the ceviche was good!

This could have easily been a 5 star, but they WILL NOT ACCEPT the 20% off Yelp check-in coupon. The michelada wasn't very good and the molcajete was disappointing. The ceviche however, was extremely good! Customer service is good also, they check in on you every 5-7 minutes to make sure everything is good. The place is trendy, the cooks music is louder than the music playing out in the dining area. Overall 4.5 stars.

This place has so much potential. We came here and it was empty except for one other table. I order the tostada de mixto, the tostada de pescado, the shrimp empanadas, tostada de embararzada. Tostada mixto- was a mix of shrimp, octopus, cucumbers, tomatoes , onions all bathed in lime juice salt and pepper. They were a bit skimp in the seafood and heavy on the veggies. 3 1/2 stars*** tostada de embararzada is A mix of octopus, Imitation crab, shrimp, red onions, cucumber, Avocado, and mayonnaise. Again a little skimp on the seafood 3 1/2 stars***. Tostada de pescado- Fish fillet mix with cucumber, cilantro, onion, tomato, avocado they we're definitely skimp on the seafood. 3 1/2 stars*** Shrimp empanadas aka Empanadas de Camaron were probably the best item I've had they were crispy on the outside and nicely filled on the inside and greatly seasoned. 4 1/2 stars**** Service was ok. Nothing special we were offered any refills on drinks nor were we checked on after our items came out. Parking is available in front in the plaza and is fist come first serve. Would I come back? Hmmm if I was in the area, can't say I would go out of my way to get food here... we'll maybe for the shrimp empanadas.

Muy delicious!! Good service the food is very good and they give you enough food for the price. I recommend to try it!

Before leaving, we grabbed desserts: bread pudding with dulce de leche, a dulce de leche cannoli, and alfajores--all really good. Only downside: I later noticed the receipt showed two chocolate volcano desserts instead of the alfajores I actually got. Not sure if it was a mistake or mix-up, but worth double-checking your receipt. Overall, great food, great vibes, and I'd definitely come back.

We had some of their beef empanadas $3.90 each, and a gnocchi de la casa (House gnocchi) with chicken $17. The beef empanada was filled with beef, eggs, and olives and had a nice sweet and savory balance. The gnocchi was good although the chicken was a bit tough. We also ordered a side of their French bread, which was warm and soft. I dunked the bread into the creamy tomato sauce in the gnocchi dish. The restaurant offers inside and patio seating, and it has a casual yet cozy ambience. I would come back to try their other empanadas and maybe their pizza. They also have beef and chicken milanesa, breakfast items, salads, sandwiches, pasta, and even a case of pastries and dessert! I need to come back and try their baked goods and fruit tarts. The market is easy to spot with a big street sign out front. There are only two parking spots in front, one is a handicapped space. There's plenty of parking around the back though. When you walk in, you will see the main market with lots of items and brands I've never seen before. Slightly to the right is their deli counter with lots of meats, cheeses, and other miscellaneous items. To the right of the entrance is a dining area, and another counter where you can order sandwiches, empanadas, pizza, French fries, and drinks. I was laser focused on getting the chimichurri and leaving since I was short on time. It is in plastic bottles in plain view on on top of the deli counter. I purchased the regular variety, but they also have a spicy version. I could already tell this was going to be way better than the other two sauces I tried. I've had it on a steak, and on my breakfast scrambled eggs, and it's in a whole different league from the grocery versions I tried. It looks just like a restaurant chimichurri, oil based with lots of herbs and spices. I just had a nice filet mignon with chimichurri at a good Argentinan restaurant last week, and this chimichurri is about 90% as good. I moved it from the plastic bottle it comes in to a glass jar which will hopefully help preserve it longer, and store it in the refrigerator. I now have no reason to look elsewhere for chimichurri. My friend visits here periodically and says the sandwiches are excellent. I'll have to return again to try one, get more chimichurri, and explore the market and deli to see what other goodies they have.

Worth the Drive from the South Bay…read more Another Eat the World LA find -- and one of my favorite discoveries for Argentinian food! I will literally drive all the way from the South Bay to Santa Ana for the empanadas at Puerto Madero Argentinian Market & Bakery. As someone who is half Argentinian, I'm pretty particular about Argentinian food, and especially empanadas and chimichurri. I criticize almost every chimichurri I try at restaurants that serve it. These empanadas are baked, not fried, generously stuffed, flavorful, and incredibly well-priced for the quality and portion. They don't skimp on the filling -- the empanadas are thick and packed with protein, which makes them feel like an actual meal rather than mostly pastry. And the chimichurri is one of the most authentic I've found. That alone is worth talking about! I've picked up empanadas to bring to all kinds of people, and they consistently get the same reaction. My mom, who is Argentinian-born, loves them. My best friend's family, who is fully Argentinian, praises them. Even my Mexican grandmother has declared them some of the best empanadas she's had. That's a pretty impressive range of approval. I've walked in and ordered a dozen on the spot, placed orders for dozens ahead of time, and also tried other items like the Choripán and beef Milanesa sandwich. Everything has been consistently delicious. Whether I'm grabbing a few for myself, ordering a dozen for family, or bringing a big batch to share, Puerto Madero never disappoints. For me, this is absolutely one of those places where the drive from the South Bay to Santa Ana is completely worth it. If you love Argentine food -- especially empanadas -- put this place on your list.

The OBRA Chicken Ball is a more of a cone shape and has shredded chicken, aji amarillo sauce, and cheese surrounded by mashed potato and deep fried. Both were tasty!
