After eating at several Argentinian restaurants recently, I've been on a chimichurri kick. I have tried chimichurri sauces from Whole Foods and Trader Joe's but they aren't really very authentic. A friend recommended seeing what El Gaucho might have, so I visited the next day. The market is easy to spot with a big street sign out front. There are only two parking spots in front, one is a handicapped space. There's plenty of parking around the back though. When you walk in, you will see the main market with lots of items and brands I've never seen before. Slightly to the right is their deli counter with lots of meats, cheeses, and other miscellaneous items. To the right of the entrance is a dining area, and another counter where you can order sandwiches, empanadas, pizza, French fries, and drinks. I was laser focused on getting the chimichurri and leaving since I was short on time. It is in plastic bottles in plain view on on top of the deli counter. I purchased the regular variety, but they also have a spicy version. I could already tell this was going to be way better than the other two sauces I tried. I've had it on a steak, and on my breakfast scrambled eggs, and it's in a whole different league from the grocery versions I tried. It looks just like a restaurant chimichurri, oil based with lots of herbs and spices. I just had a nice filet mignon with chimichurri at a good Argentinan restaurant last week, and this chimichurri is about 90% as good. I moved it from the plastic bottle it comes in to a glass jar which will hopefully help preserve it longer, and store it in the refrigerator. I now have no reason to look elsewhere for chimichurri. My friend visits here periodically and says the sandwiches are excellent. I'll have to return again to try one, get more chimichurri, and explore the market and deli to see what other goodies they have. read more

This is your friendly neighborhood South American bodega. The market stocks plenty of items from the south american countries, mainly Argentina, Uruguay, and others. There is also a small diner where you can enjoy the delicious foods or some wine and beer while you sit and discuss who is the most legendary footballer (soccer). Always saw this place and wanted to try their empanadas. Preferred the beef one over the chicken and loved the sauce that comes with it. Never had a Milanese sandwich, so no idea what to expect. To me the sandwich lacked a little flavor so used the sauce from the empanada on it. The crisp on the beef was spot on and the lettuce was really fresh. Very unassuming place but the staff were so nice. Not sure i would go out of my way to eat here but if I crave empanadas I would get the beef again. read more

Beef and spinach was alright as they were dry asf. Ham and cheese was the worst one of all. Overall every empanada had potential however, they were all so dang dry!! Upon entry we were greeted. The menu is clear large print with explained items. I ordered the skirt steak sandwich. Entraña ( I think that's the name) The bread was nice crunch, the lettuce and tomato fresh. The steak was good however tough to eat. I will order something different next time. We also ordered the chivito (no goat at all just the name) ham, mayo, steak (lomo) cheese and olives This was delicious. Meat was tender the green olives were so good. Great sandwich. Not to mention the chimichurri was excellent so flavorful. The service was quick. Small dining area with a great TV size. The market is super cool with so many imported items. They also had many ready to go sandwiches, pastry, fresh traditional desserts and Mexican style bread. They also sell their chimichurri sauce. Also in the back is a mini deli meat market! This place has all the necessities need to make you feel like home if they're not available near you. This place is definitely a hidden gem a that has everything you need in one stop shop. They also have empanadas that are so good homemade. They have many flavors to choose from I got the chicken and beef 1/2doz 14.99 full doz 25 they are great size and full of flavor. My first Yelp review leading with emojis lol. EGMM is located on state college, just south of Tacos Los Cholos, you can miss the spot if you aren't paying attention. I have driven by this place forever and a buddy brought me over here for lunch. Here is what I loved: Mom and Pop vibe. Very welcoming, and they explained their food to me ( Argentina food) Reasonable prices and a great selection of different food. You can also buy meat by the pound as well. I ended up getting the entrana ( beef shoulder ) sandwich which just amazing. Cooked perfectly with a side French fries, it was the perfect lunch. So I've been a member of The Bruery's beer club for a few years, which means every so often, I'm out this direction, picking up beer there. Ages ago, I discovered one nearby empanada place that we usually get empanadas from (Patagonia Empanadas), but our last visit there, I decided to check if there was anywhere else we should try... and ended up trying another, different empanada place. Admittedly, the main draw was that I saw the empanadas here were like half the price of the ones at Patagonia... which turns out, as I suppose makes sense, is because they're also about half the *size*, which also makes them a somewhat worse dough-to-filling ratio. They weren't bad - I'd totally eat them if they were offered to me, but we're going back to Patagonia next time, I think. Not nearly as many flavors, either - the beef was pretty decent; the chicken was super bland. The "ham and cheese" just tasted like a ham-and-cheese-flavored empanada without much actual filling. Overall, the empanadas were nothing special. We did also get a $12 sandwich, though (shared 3 empanadas and the sandwich, was a solid amount of food for two people for lunch). The steak sandwich was great - took a while, since it was clearly made fresh to order, but solid, with plenty of meat, and great quality beef, super tender and beef-y. I wouldn't really come back for the empanadas specifically, but I would definitely consider trying more of their sandwiches. Definitely the sort of place you'd mainly pick up food to-go at - but again, The Bruery isn't too far, so that's why we'd be here, anyway, picking up food to take there. (They do also have a decent selection of interesting imported grocery/packaged food items, though that isn't why we were there.) read more

I love this place. They have the best Argentinian sandwiches, café con Leche, and it's a great place to watch soccer.

I got the breaded chicken sandwich, and the spinach and spicy chicken empanadas - so good. I love simple sandwiches and these are great! The staff was kind and helpful. I went during weekday lunch hours and I didn't wait for more than 10 minutes. They do have small seating area inside the market. Tip: order food in the back and you'll pay at the front counter/register. So I suggest shop, order your food, then pay! It's a small market (or maybe order first if there's a long line) read more

Wonderful market and kitchen. Their butcher is one of the few places around where I can get a good cut of vacio. Lots of wonderful baked goods and desserts - you can also place special orders for custom sizes. I love the Choripan sandwiches they serve from their kitchen. read more

They have facturas (Argentine pastries)! They also have a freezer with Argentine tapas and other hard-to-find items. Their choripan and chivito sandwiches are tasty, and the pizzas are outstanding. Saw this store on IG and had to go check it out. Didn't realize they are also in business with another location in Santa Ana, Puerto Madera. It's located near Santa Ana College. Same great food except this spot sells wine and beer on site. You can drink while watching futbol on TV. The market has many different products imported from South America and also has a meat deli. We really came for the delicious empanadas that run for about $2 each. Great deal. Your best bet is to get a dozen to take home. Comes with chimichuri dressing with is great. This place used to be a nice decent place to have a traditional Argentine sandwich, but unfortunately, the food quality has been getting worse and worse. Today, I had my worst experience ever with my take-out order. I ordered 3 of their sandwiches and some empanadas. When I got my order, the person refused to give me the chimichurri sauce to accompany the sandwiches, which they always provide with each sandwich, but this time, you don't get it unless you pay for it separately, which is ridiculous, like buying tacos and not getting salsa. Not only was this a bad experience, but the meat on their sandwiches was nothing but elastic meat, the worst quality you can find; in other words, the food was terrible. I'm writing this review to share my honest experience. On December 31, 2024, at around 5:15 PM, I was very hungry and decided to stop at this restaurant after noticing its nice platform and decorations from the outside. I parked my car, walked in, and was seated at the bar since I was dining alone. The hostess greeted me politely, and the bartender was very kind and professional. While checking the menu, I ordered a grilled Seabass with vegetables, which was estimated to take about 35-40 minutes. Unfortunately, when the dish arrived, it was incredibly disappointing. The fish was dry, tasteless, and had an unpleasant smell. Honestly, even my dog wouldn't eat it. Despite my frustration, I remained polite and tried one piece out of the four but couldn't eat any more. I brought the issue to the bartender's attention and explained that the fish didn't taste fresh and was poorly prepared. However, I still paid the $47 bill and left the restaurant, deeply disappointed. I will never return to this establishment again and cannot recommend it based on this experience. read more

One of my favorite stops in Anaheim. We stopped on the way to the Angels game. We enjoyed a milanesa sandwich and three empanadas of beef, spinach and chicken. Though I'm a devote carnivore my favorite was the spinach. Make sure to grab a small bowl of their house made chimichurri sauce to take each bite to the next level. Their chimichurri sauce has inspired me to make my own sauce at home. Be aware the chimichurri will give you dragon breath but in a good way! The service was quick and cordial with a clean bathroom. I don't understand how everytime I come to this place the meat on my sandwich has more fat than actual beef.... It's disappointing.
