Delicious! Thank you, Yelpers, for recommending this place! One of the best chili rellenos I've ever had! What a luxury. I was very tempted to order everything on the menu. I also got a couple chicken enchiladas. So yum. You may think from my reviews that sushi is my favorite food, but gun to my head and put me on a desert island w/ only one restaurant, and it's Mexican food all the way! I never, never get sick of it. Even when it's pretty bad it's pretty good - and La Pasadita Oaxaquena was excellent!

Very nice atmosphere inside, well decorated. The staff was very friendly. Sadly, I ordered cheese enchiladas but received chicken enchiladas, so I feel like I can't accurately say how it was since I only ate the tortillas and sauce. They also forgot to include my chips and salsa, but I noticed that before driving home and was able to go back for them. The beans and rice were good, they were what you should expect at an authentic Mexican restaurant. They do not taste like they are from a can or anything like that, so that's a plus. The tlayuda (which I forgot to take a photo of) was quite good. The chips and salsa though... they are the best chips I have had at a Mexican restaurant. They are thick and crunchy (not hard or stale), and they look like they are made at the restaurant. I would definitely come here for the chips and salsa alone if I am ever craving some.

A tattered GMC truck pulls up with a chihuahua inside and a peace symbol and a heart drawn neatly on his coat...I would worry, but the dog seems happy. The whole experience of Guadalupe feels like that...and this restaurant adds to it. Try the birria tacos and have them dipped for you. We also had fish tacos and the boy had Carme asada nachos, his go to. But I would return for the birria, with succulent slow braised meat. I recommend going to the dunes to eat...an even more odd and beautiful site!

Just look at the pictures... Who serves $h1t like this to a customer?? If I wasn't starving I would be too scared to open it! As you can see from the container, the molé was super greasy, don't get it on anything fabric cause it will never come off. The only thing good about this meal was the tortillas. I don't think they want me to come back from the looks of it. They're supposed to be open til 8pm Saturday night and the girl working the counter at 6pm I had to take it to go cause they were closing 2 hours early...ok thanks for the fkn mess, molé everywhere. I spent more time cleaning than I did eating. Next time the pizza place or Nardo's. Never again.

I got asada nachos. Big portion and great flavor. The service was good and the cashier was very nice. Small place but it is clean and welcoming.

This is a Tlayuda..Portion for two

I loved this place so much. We stopped by from a road trip and decided to ask a local to recommend us to a good Mexican restaurant and he sent us here. The restaurant is super clean and they have 100% authentic Mexican (Oaxaca) food. I ordered their birria quesadillas and they were the best ones I have ever had. My husband ordered a Tlayudas, but they failed to notify him how large the tortillas was and that the filling has spicy chili. I highly recommend this place and will definitely return here again.

Authentic Mexican Experience (might blow a hole in your butt)…read more..... My wife and I went to El Tapatio for lunch in 2023, but hadn't returned until another couple said they'd like to try it. So we went back on a Thursday around noon. Ratings..... - Overall: 5 - Location: 4 - Exterior: 5 - Ambiance: 4 - Menu: 5 - Food Quality: 5 - Food Portion: 5 - Service: 5...unless you're stuck behind a large group - Price and Value: 5 - Parking: 4 - Bathroom: N/A Pros: - Location: Very good for people between Arroyo Grande and Santa Maria. On Highway 1...the main street in the small downtown of Guadalupe. Only 5 minutes from our house in Trilogy at the south end of Nipomo. - Menu: Large. Something for everyone with a bias toward authentic Mexican dishes. - Exterior: Colorful. The bright colors catch your eye from the street. - Ambiance: Casual and colorful. It's fairly small, but comfortable and homey. - Food: Everyone was happy. I and the husband in the other couple had a #44 - Spicy shrimp with rice and beans ($25.50). I like spicy, but it was a notch or 2 higher. My dish gave new meaning to the word "mouthwatering". Maybe I'm more of a "regular guy" these days. Our friend with the same entree literally cleaned his plate. Our server said "I've never seen anyone do that". He probably blew a hole in his butt. My wife had a Chile Relleno ($20) and really enjoyed it. I'm not sure about the order from the wife of the guy with a cast iron stomach. - Service: Great when it was our turn. We arrived a few minutes after a group of 15. Since the only person in the kitchen was the owner, he was naturally just able to make 1 or 2 dishes at a time. It took 45 minutes for the big table to be served...then we got our food during the next 10-15 minutes. The employees we met were friendly and helpful. While we waited, they did keep us well stocked with tortilla chips which were homemade and warm. - Price and Value: Good portions of tasty food at a fair price. - Parking: No problem. On the street either in front or around the corner. - Bathroom: We didn't try it. El Tapatio is a great choice for authentic Mexican food, but remember 2 things. It's only open 11 AM to 4 PM and they'll be a looooong wait for food if lots of people arrive just before you do.

Amazing food. Flavors are excellent. Family owned. Highly recommend for home cooked Mexicanread more
