We saw a yummy post about this place on Instagram and thought we'd check it out when passing through Guadalupe. So glad we did! Sparkling clean and full of light, we were greeted by a friendly smile and digital menu boards with photos of the food. Order at the counter with plenty of indoor seating (low tops and high tops). We had the #7 Mole plate (a large chicken leg and a thigh), $18.99, served with creamy refried beans, fluffy rice, and beautiful fresh corn tortillas. The mole sauce was earthy and very dark, not sweet at all -- which was a new version for me. This looks to be proper for the Oaxaca region, where chocolate and raisin are used sparingly for bitterness and savory depth, so I was glad to try a new region's mole. Tortillas were perfect, fresh and light. Beans and rice were excellent. We also ordered the #6 Quesabirria tacos plate ($14.59), with a bowl of dipping consomé big enough to have some left to eat with your spoon. Heaven. Crispy, cheese between the consume-soaked and grilled soft corn tortillas, and fall-off-tender beef with a sprinkling of onion and chopped cilantro. No notes! Dreamy. A half-liter bottle of Mexican (real cane sugar) Coke was a worthwhile splurge at $4.50. Fresh chilled salsas at the counter, you also got a basket of perfectly crisp miga chips (more dense and substantial than average tortilla chips - I usually see them with Chilaquiles) and house salsa roja free at the table. Several flavors of Aqua Fresca were on display as well as a dessert case (empty on the Monday afternoon we visited except for the "Chocoflan" in the refrigerator case), plus a counterside fridge with a big assortment of Mexican soft drinks. We bought a couple of chocoflans ($5 each) to go; they were more like cake than custardy flan but also excellent. Cannot wait to return! read more

I wanted mexican food today so I went and ordered 4 tacos and a drink for $28.. in my opinion that was pretty pricy for mid asada tacos. Also, I kept having to wait for one specific lady and things just felt like a mess. Nothing was horrific but just not sure if id want to grab food from here again as a first choice. read more

This place is good. I honestly wish I lived closer to be able to have it more. We got the wet burrito. The salsa had great flavor and the Asada in the burrito with seasoned just right I had the Machaca plate which is also really good. The place was clean and the staff was very nice. Very nice atmosphere inside, well decorated. The staff was very friendly. Sadly, I ordered cheese enchiladas but received chicken enchiladas, so I feel like I can't accurately say how it was since I only ate the tortillas and sauce. They also forgot to include my chips and salsa, but I noticed that before driving home and was able to go back for them. The beans and rice were good, they were what you should expect at an authentic Mexican restaurant. They do not taste like they are from a can or anything like that, so that's a plus. The tlayuda (which I forgot to take a photo of) was quite good. The chips and salsa though... they are the best chips I have had at a Mexican restaurant. They are thick and crunchy (not hard or stale), and they look like they are made at the restaurant. I would definitely come here for the chips and salsa alone if I am ever craving some. read more

A tattered GMC truck pulls up with a chihuahua inside and a peace symbol and a heart drawn neatly on his coat...I would worry, but the dog seems happy. The whole experience of Guadalupe feels like that...and this restaurant adds to it. Try the birria tacos and have them dipped for you. We also had fish tacos and the boy had Carme asada nachos, his go to. But I would return for the birria, with succulent slow braised meat. I recommend going to the dunes to eat...an even more odd and beautiful site! read more

Just look at the pictures... Who serves $h1t like this to a customer?? If I wasn't starving I would be too scared to open it! As you can see from the container, the molé was super greasy, don't get it on anything fabric cause it will never come off. The only thing good about this meal was the tortillas. I don't think they want me to come back from the looks of it. They're supposed to be open til 8pm Saturday night and the girl working the counter at 6pm I had to take it to go cause they were closing 2 hours early...ok thanks for the fkn mess, molé everywhere. I loved this place so much. We stopped by from a road trip and decided to ask a local to recommend us to a good Mexican restaurant and he sent us here. The restaurant is super clean and they have 100% authentic Mexican (Oaxaca) food. I ordered their birria quesadillas and they were the best ones I have ever had. My husband ordered a Tlayudas, but they failed to notify him how large the tortillas was and that the filling has spicy chili. This is still one of my favorite place for burritos in town BUT the last few times I've came, they've messed up my order. The last time I ordered a breakfast burrito and I was charged for potatoes ($1) and my burrito didn't have any. Also when you order on the phone, sometimes they mess up your order or it's not even ready when you get there after the time they quoted. I've sat there an additional 20 mins after calling 20 mins before. I watched people getting their orders before me and they were just walking. I'm not expecting perfection every time but lately I've felt like they haven't been delivering. The prices have gone up, I paid almost $10 for a breakfast burrito and it was missing ingredients. The reviews of this place were too good to pass up! Working in Guad, you will probably eat at every restaurant at least once. Well today was my day for La Pasadita, and they did not disappoint!!! Friday is the burrito special, so I decided on carnitas for mine and my coworker got asada. It's amazing how a simple burrito with meat, beans, rice, cilantro, onions and salsa could be so good!!! The tortillas were perfectly crisp but soft, the meat was succulent and seasoned deliciously, and the salsa was just spicy enough to enjoy a little heat. Clean, neat, modern restaurant - in contrast to the other old-school cramped ancient Mexican restaurants in this small town. (Most have good food though) Food here seems authentic - somewhat spicier than most American-style Mexican food. Generous portions. Great place to grab lunch or dinner in Guadalupe. My favorite is their chile relleno or tacos!

I ordered the tlayuda with carne asada and added chorizo. When they brought it out my eyes popped in awe at the size. Definitely at least a 2 person meal, maybe 3. The tortilla was crisp all around the edges with graded softness as I made my way into the center. The carne asada was very thin like a cecina and very soft as I was able to easily tear it with my fingers. Perfectly seasoned. The chorizo was mouth watering. The salsa was exceptional - they brought out another red (different from the one they gave with the chips and salsa) and a green salsa. Both were extremely flavorful and I kept switching back and forth because I couldn't make up my mind. To summarize - the tlayuda was BOMB. The service was good. I come for the food first, but it's always great to see people smile and be grateful for your business. As a son of immigrants I'm biased to say this place is full of heart - a direct reflection of those who provide the much needed labor to pick and deliver the surrounding agriculture to market and who make up the community. The place itself is nice. It appears like they recently opened or remodeled. The walls are painted with bright colors. A steady stream of customers made their way in to eat there or take out. I will be back to Guadalupe just to come and eat here again and enjoy a piece of Oaxaca. If you're on the 101 passing through, get off in Santa Maria or Nipomo and make your way to Guadalupe to eat here. read more
