Sunday specials
Kellie C.

We tried this great place for the first time last Sunday early afternoon (Mother's Day). Had a booth, super cozy, very cute and colorful ambience. Admired the "Best of Northern Santa Barbara County" awards from several recent years while we perused the menu. An oyster cocktail (a dozen raw, shucked oysters in yummy gazpacho-like tomato and lime, cucumber and onion) $23.99. Fantastic! Also the Camarones Ensenada (house special bacon-wrapped shrimp)- plate, served with tasty refried beans and fluffy, spicy rice $24.99. The bacon wrapped shrimp were very fresh and wrapped so perfectly in an origami-like crispy bacon shell. I loved, loved those. On Sundays they make fresh corn tortillas right there in the dining room. The photo won't do them justice - they were heaven. A tasty fish taco ($6.99) to cleanse the palette, plus a great horchata ($3.99). We lingered and were so impressed by the warm and wonderful service. We saw one of their cocktails made with mint and need to go back soon to try it! The owner was at the register and he is so nice. The parking lot is a bit hectic but not agro. This restaurant is killing it! Will be back!

Combination 1 Crispy chicken taco and Cheese Enchiladas
Ron Y.

Excellent customer service, presentation of food is visually delicious. I ordered combination plate of Cheese Enchiladas, crispy chicken taco with bean and spanish rice. I had a little of the beef that was ordered but it was a little chewy, chicken from taco was a little chewy and the cheese Enchiladas was a little bland. Rice and beans Excellent, the tortilla chips were a little dry but salsa Excellent. Prices a little pricey.

Pinaple shrimp

The food was very good. The staff was very kind. I would go back here anytime I am looking for a combination of authentic and seafood with a kind welcoming atmosphere. The Pinaple shrimp was a delicious combo of sweet with a bit of spice. The Diablo shrimp, not pictured here, has food spent ce which increases as the meal continues. The homemade guac was smooth and adding lemon was a great addition. Large portions. 5March

+Food was amazing. +Waitress was very attentive. +Great atmosphere. I ordered Camaron Mazatlan with pineapple, it had to have been the best shrimp I've ever had at ANY restaurant! My sister ordered the fajitas mixtas and that thing was massive! She had the hot skillet piled with steak, chicken, and shrimp it also came with a side of beans rice and some lettuce. Definitely recommend this place

Very deliciosa food!!! ;)

Woody's Butcher Block absolutely lived up to the hype. I ordered the single-patty burger, pulled…read morepork taco, brisket taco, coleslaw, and potato salad, and every single item was outstanding. The burger was juicy and flavorful, the tacos were packed with delicious smoked meat, and the sides were fresh and complemented the meal perfectly. The tri tip was very flavorful! probably the best tri tip I had ever had. TH=here was some good smoke flavor in that meat. Sliced very thin, it was so easy to eat. No fighting the meat. Bread was buttered. BBQ on the side was Sweet Baby Ray's. I found that the BBQ sauce took away from the sammich, so I did very little dipping. If I come again, which I hope I do, I will order that sammich, but prepared in the same manner in which they prepare the roast beef sandwich. We took some chile verde sausages home to try, and those have a strong and memorable chile taste. For people who do not like spicy, beware. For the rest of us it is a satisfying burn. It is a pork sausage. Wife denied the purchase of the blackberry habanero sausage, so I will be left wondering about those. We also grabbed their pesto mayo. We will be trying that this week. I think I would have liked it on my tri tip sammich. I love pesto on anything. Place ain't cheap, but what is?

WOW. I was in town visiting family today and stopped here for lunch. I grew up in Orcutt, so I've…read moreknown the Swiss for years, but today's meal reminded me exactly why it's such a local institution. The oak grilled open faced rib-eye sandwich was absolutely incredible. I'm not exaggerating when I say it had more flavor than Wolfgang Puck's CUT. The rib-eye was perfectly cooked to the medium temperature I requested, tender enough to bite through without a knife, and seasoned exactly the way Santa Maria style beef should be. So many places are too conservative with the seasoning these days, but they got it just right. Even the bread underneath the steak was perfect. It didn't even need salsa, but of course I tried it both ways. Honestly? I couldn't decide which I liked better because the sandwich was outstanding on its own. We also ordered the linguiça appetizer with garlic bread. The linguiça had that slight char from the grill that gives it so much flavor, and the mustard served alongside it was the perfect pairing. My mom ordered the prime rib sandwich with grilled onions and chose the 50/50 fries and grilled onions. The only minor criticism I have is that it wasn't quite a true 50/50 and could have used a few more grilled onions. Other than that, it was delicious. The pinquito beans have a little kick, so if you're sensitive to spice, keep that in mind. Personally, I wouldn't change a thing. The whole meal took me right back to growing up in the Santa Maria Valley cruising Broadway on Saturday while the entire town smelled like oak fired Santa Maria barbecue. We cook a lot at home, and we're pretty serious about our beef, so eating steak at restaurants is usually disappointing because very few places compare. That's why I was so impressed today. This wasn't just a good sandwich.. it was one of the best rib-eye sandwiches I've ever had. To whoever was running the grill today: outstanding job. You absolutely nailed it. I'll be thinking about that sandwich for a long time.

We each ordered a filet mignon with a side plate. I ordered the chicken noodle soup for starters. It was delicious. I was off to a good start. However, my companions all ordered salads with blue cheese dressing. They each reported the salad was wilted and the dressing was terrible. Then the main course came with our sides, a little pot of salsa and a little pot of beans. The filets were very tender, it not well seasoned. Baked potatoes were fine, but the mixed veggies were tasteless. There may have been some kind of bread, but I don't remember. Service was fine. But waitress really made out. She didn't mention that the tip was already included in the bill. She readily accepted a substantial tip in addition to what was already on the bill. Bad food. Rip off spot!
